  1. Shaw also has a tangible backstory for why he underperformed years 1 and 2 - he supposedly got close to 400 lbs and just this past year reigned it back in. There may be more physical progress Becton can help him tap into in addition to getting more reps and technique coaching.
  2. I mean, Branch has more production than AD Mitchell or Golden did, all as Sophomores...
  3. Why tf do we have to get the Cowboys and Texans meaningless games of backups on TV instead of Falcons or Bucs? so annoying
  4. NFL owners are often dumb but I have a hard time believing Sark could get a HC job now even if he's interested. Maybe interviews, but not likely hired. College coaches have not done well in the NFL and his NFL OC stint was not good. No idea how a GM/owner could justify that hire (although I would've said the same when Kliff was hired). Also he might not even be interested of course.
  5. It's been alluded to in other sports that CDC likes coaches who have had success at multiple programs including a P4 one or at least had sustained high level success. Guys like Schloss, Sark is debatable but had UW, USC, Bama on his resume, the new swim coach, etc. With that in mind, I would think Otzelberger from ISU would be realistic call #1. Nate Oats if he's interested. Bruce Pearl if he didn't have the baggage. Rick Barnes if he hadn't been fired here lol. That said, the up-and-comer route does have potential. A bit riskier though so doesn't seem to be CDC's MO.
  6. Um yeah where is this lack of NIL concept coming from? On paper, RT landed a great class this offseason that couldn't have been cheap - Mark, Pope, and Kaluma were all averaging like 15/game in the P4. Everyone wanted Tre Johnson. Larry and Kent were very solid for a tournament team. There's no way that group was cheap.
  7. Interesting color on him. Got way overweight and finally got fit this year. Gotta like the potential if he can continue take the coaching/fitness seriously
  8. Wears hotel robe = soft. Do not want. /s
  9. I mean, without knowing the cost it sounds to me like both Branch bros would be solid additions with our needs. Obviously depends on the $ but at least neither part of the package deal is a total waste here. He'd probably get better without that garbage USC defensive coaching too
  10. What's the scouting report on Zion Branch? We could actually use some more safety depth especially if Taaffe leaves but idk if Zion is good or not
  11. Yeah I'd take the UT money if it's a guaranteed 6 digits or UDFA/late round. The NFL will still be there next year.

    Bert!

    Warning: may be triggering
  13. I believe @RGBIII said Moore is highly likely returning as of a few weeks ago
  14. Marvin Jones is a head scratcher considering how quiet we've been in the portal. That's pretty much the last position of need imo outside of QB
  15. Gunner Stockton has one throwing speed and it's very entertaining to watch

    Bert!

Saban was perennially plagued by poor kicking until Will Reichard cam along so I'm not sure I'd take his approach as wisdom on this particular subject
  17. Per ESPN, Bert is 124th in the country in FG% this year at 64%. There are a lot of good kickers with eligibility to go tamper with, many from small programs. The top 20 are all around 90% or better. Fwiw, last year's 83% would be around 40th in the country. Solid but still not irreplaceable.
  18. Seriously. Seems like a good kid but could use a lesson in phone usage. He's already had several cringy social media moments this year (middle fingers, commenting on his own highlights as if he were on a burner, now this)

    Bert!

What's the deal with Will Stone? Seems like he was pretty highly regarded out of HS and must have more leg strength if he's doing kickoffs
  20. I would like to see Banks go outside the box: 1. Find a shitty MLS player to kick FGs, Brandon Aubrey style 2. Find a 7-footer who does nothing but intimidate and block FGs
  21. Can we get a portal kicker from Austin FC? Seems like that strategy worked out pretty well for Brandon Aubrey and the Cowboys
  22. Good TE coach, time to take away special teams. Beat by another fake punt, extended a drive with a running into the punter penalty. On field coach limits are gone next year right? Go hire a standalone ST Coordinator
  23. I doubt 6 mil but I would not be surprised at all if Quinn can make more in college next year than NFL. A Day 2 pick earns between 5-10M over 4 years. Assuming Quinn is late 2nd or 3rd, that's only like $1.5m per year and probably not a ton of endorsements either. Meanwhile $3-4mil in college wouldn't shock me. But transferring could risk his future NFL status big time. And on a personal level, probably not too appealing to move to a new school, new teammates, etc just for one year while postponing the NFL dream. Not an easy decision
  24. I'd think it's Dante Moore time there. Maybe Larry Ellison wants a one year stopgap at Mich. Miami, Bama, ND might need QBs but that's a lot of cheds.
  25. 6 mil for one year? That sounds like bs.
