Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Losing two coaches is one thing but sticking with a program that blatantly hid this stuff until you signed is another. I'd tell them to kick rocks. Wonder how that works with NIL though

Yeah the fact pattern says that something else clearly happened. 1st team all offseason to suddenly behind Stroh and even post-DUI true freshman Brooks? Obviously I have no idea what happened behind the scenes or who's to blame but something must have happened.

I just read Norval McKenzie's GT bio and his sons names are Storm and Bolt. Must hire.

Sherrone Moore's Michigan Meltdown - Staffers, Breakups, Extortion, Cover-Ups, Firings, Knives, Assaults, Breakdowns, Arrests
Ahh there it is. Ellison pulled his money.

Sherrone Moore's Michigan Meltdown - Staffers, Breakups, Extortion, Cover-Ups, Firings, Knives, Assaults, Breakdowns, Arrests
Honest question - how much does a show cause really matter especially if only a few months? Does that mean they can't hire him?

This guy?

Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
Question is: How hard would Bama fight to keep DeBoer? Just like - how hard would Texas fight if Bama came after Sark? Fwiw - Cignetti's buyout is $15mm if someone poaches him which is a lot less than most of these schools are paying to fire their guy. And Michigan (or Bama hypothetically) wouldn't have to pay their coach to leave.

So if Deboer goes to Michigan, and assuming they can't pull someone away from a job they just accepted, who does Bama go after? Freeman? Would Cignetti leave? Sark getting another extension out of it?

Deboer wouldn't surprise me. Obviously everyone wants Cignetti. Jesse Minter would be interesting for them too. Hadn't thought about Gruden but the entertainment factor would be excellent.

How do we feel about Tony Alford as potential RB coach? Michigan secondary coach is from Copperas Cove too. Could be interesting.

Vandy, Mizzou, Arky, Auburn the highest in the SEC on here. Even though these are non-QB runs, it seems like a lot of the top performers do a lot of QB running. Looking at rumored RB coach candidate schools - GT was pretty elite and Mckenzie is also their Run Game Coordinator (if that actually means anything). UF and LSU above average on YAC, not good on scheme/blocking. Nebraska plenty of running room but RBs not doing much extra. And this definitely won't quiet the Samples fanboys. I kinda like this Mckenzie guy. Sounds like more focus is on Juluke and Wilson but he's a younger guy with a nice track record of production.

Not a direct answer but just posted this in another thread. Basically implies the blocking/scheme sucks and the RBs suck this year.

This is an interesting way to look at the run game. No surprise but Texas sucks at blocking and YAC. Caleb Hawkins and both Mizzou RBs are ballers. I don't think this is adjusted for strength of schedule at all.

Why should I be excited about this Jabbar guy? Serious question. Also, why is everyone here so in love with Baugh? 5.3 ypc isn't much better than Wisner's 4.6 behind the worst line in the SEC. His longest carry on the year was 26 yards..

Interesting bc they're hiring 2 OL coaches. Johnson was Assistant OL coach at OSU this year too. Take notes, Sark.

2025 CFB Polls/Rankings Thead
Those were road losses vs final top 15 teams though. That Bama game was closer than the final score too. Their SOS is signficiantly tougher than Miami and ND, so it really doesn't make much sense that they weren't even in the same conversation.

Literally a week ago they said Vandy didn't have a signature win because Tennessee dropped out of the top 25...which was a result of their 21 point loss to Vandy

I don't know what to think about Jackson. Wingo doesn't look polished but that's one guy, plus he is still young and had injuries this offseason (so did Moore and Mosely). WR recruiting has been solid. Last year's WRs were good but mostly transfers. Golden improved a lot over the season. I will say: Watching Indiana and OSU's WRs make every contested catch last night made me extremely jealous. Haven't seen that much here this year.

There's no logic or consistency to it. The Bama, ND, BYU, Miami moves the last 2 weeks prove that in multiple ways. Ultimately the Kentucky and Miss St games are probably what screwed Texas as much as anything. Yes, they were wins, but they were bad ones by eye test and computers.

Texas Roster 2026
Am I crazy for thinking the portal and playoff timeline probably gave players more leverage last year? By the time UT's post-playoff window opened, it was too late to get someone to enter the portal from other teams as replacements. Plus, Texas players were among the few options for other teams to tamper with (supply vs demand). Now they can just say goodbye, we'll go find someone who is more reasonable (if not a young guy on the roster). Hopefully you're right and they do that.

Diego Pavia - The Chihuahua that thinks he's a Mastiff
This would be awesome. Idk why Miami or Utah (who they supposedly reached out to) wouldn't do this. It's the only shot for all of them.

If Moore leaves, does Mosely slide inside to the slot? Seems like he could be pretty good there and helps with blocking

PSU going with the interim coach after all this would be a massive fail. Still plenty of better options out there. I'd be calling Mullen, Campbell, hell even Gruden or Daboll
