He probably didn't get many reps at OSU. He joined the team after summer workouts, so obviously was way behind learning the playbook, leading to him getting whatever reps were left over for the 3rd/4th stringer.
I'm pretty much viewing him as a true freshman. His Sr year at Southlake might've even been better development than the 3 months at OSU.
I thought they looked pretty even in the spring game (from the brief snippets LHN actually showed lol). Neither awful, neither amazing.
Also didn't Ewers supposedly ball out in the closed scrimmage before the spring game?
All true but last year we could sell the whole "it's year 1 and we inherited a dumpster fire" thing. The whole "we're on the rise" pitch gets a lot harder if we suck again
As far as I'm concerned, the Week 1 OL is set now that Ang is sadly out. Banks - Connor - Majors - Hutson - Jones. No more tinkering, just let them get the reps and build unit cohesion.
I guess we're finally going to see the great white buffalo Troy Omeire in action! Time to see just how full of shit those 9.95ers have been this whole time.
Assuming Neyor regains his full speed/agility when he returns (which to be fair, most guys seem to do these days).
Very killer for this year's team but yeah could be huge having him next year when we have a better chance of being relevant (experienced OL, Ewers year 2). My main concern for this year is winning enough games to keep this recruiting class together..
It's weird too because we had an amazingly healthy offseason last year. Then first week this year, they're dropping like flies
Ourlads (idk how reliable) says Omeire. Feel like I've heard more about Casey Cain though in practice reports.
Milton has been pegged for slot but maybe he's the one that steps in.
Hmm so now we've got IT, OB, and the one IT alleged insider poster saying no big deal for Neyor, vs Someguy saying he's pessimistic. Nothing from 247 I believe. Source off!!!
Agree so what does Sark need to see to be able to go ahead and name Ewers the guy without the team questioning it? Because I do see @Codaxx point that if you claim it's an open competition and then Card outplays Ewers (if 9.95ers are to be believed), then it's a little tough to name Ewers the starter with a straight face and have people take you seriously next time. Or is that not a worry?
