  1. Is Margin Hooks the new FWK? He's involved with Stewart, Armani, and Hudson, 3 of the more roller-coaster recruitments of this cycle. Now he's openly campaigning for a guy to get paid before the guy even announces anything
  2. Perkins is supposedly announcing tomorrow but still taking more visits before signing day? I don't understand some of these kids. Also, Perkins told Rivals that he hasn't talked Brian Kelly. Wtf is Kelly doing, I actually feel like LSU had a shot there.
  3. Idk about OU but our transfers were all benchwarmers at their previous school so yeah wtf did we expect? Other than Dunn who I thought was OK and Richardson who is TBD. That doesn't mean transfers can't make an impact. Just get better ones. Ex: Bama and UGA both have transfers playing huge roles for them right now.
  4. FWIW, PFF has Jacob Cowing as the 2nd best available player in the portal (behind Zach Evans). Mumpfield is #4 with this to say: Mumpfield is a terrific route-runner. His separation rate against single coverage in 2021 sits in the 96th percentile among all FBS wide receivers, a key factor in his 78.2 receiving grade for the season. The wideout has received a slew of Power Five offers and is bound to make an immediate impact for the program he chooses. Taj Harris is #3, Neyor not on the list.
  5. What’s really killing bowl games is the total acceptance of opt-outs. I remember it was a huge deal when Christian Mccaffrey opted out of whatever random bowl game. Now you have guys like the stud Pitt QB opting out of his school’s first modern NY6 bowl and no one blinks an eye. Wtf! It actually seems more common now for NFL-bound guys to opt out than play (other than playoffs of course). So yeah, of course no one cares about even the NY6 bowls because the best players sit out.
  6. Agree that the sport is going down the drain and the portal plus NIL will make it worse. There are no enforceable rules and now everyone is a free agent every year. There’s a reason no other sport in the world operates with all 1-year contracts, no salary cap, and no draft. It’s fucking dumb. And making it even worse is that this is all still technically cheating fueled by third-party boosters, so while everyone does it to a certain extent, the winners are just whoever’s boosters are willing to cheat more than the rest under the table.
  7. This offensive staff is salty. I’m still not sure how the OL will be this year while the freshmen develop, but if Flood can get it fixed quick we’re gonna put up major points. Now if only Sark would address the defensive staff and S&C..
  8. I'm not a 247 subscriber but enjoyed this thread shitting on FCB: https://247sports.com/college/texas/board/21/Contents/spilling-the-beans-part-two-179374759/?page=1
  9. Just for context, Pitt’s stud QB opted out (v lame for a programs first NY6 bowl) and the replacement just went into the locker room hurt
  10. Breaks right as the Pitt game starts. Coincidence? I think not. Love the hire. Well done Sark.
  11. Idk what thread this belongs in but Venric Mark did his little night cap tweet thing today, in case it actually means anything
  12. SIAP but Roach and Nick Harris are doubling down saying Campbell hasn’t signed. 247 posters are also giving FCB shit for the Bonitto incident in the same thread
  13. He got injured so sure but he wasn’t as hyped up iirc and is a very different player. Hope he’s fully recovered bc he seems like a good fit. Verified 4.41 40 at 185 lbs as a recruit.
  14. Bottom line is that if Sark wins games and is sober, GP ain’t taking his job. Sark is young and an actual likeable human so he’s not getting usurped if successful. If GP helps win games by fixing the defense and freeing up more of Sark’s time to coach offense, it should be a good development for all. If he comes in with some useless responsibilities to just wait in the wings, that’s no bueno. I find it hard to believe most of the big money sees GP as an ideal HC candidate though. More likely we’d be chasing the newest shiny object.
  15. Ah the old “wants to be close to home” and proceeds to set up visits all over the country
  16. One more small bit of smoke - we just offered Isaiah Neyor, Marion’s most recent twitter follow. So summary of the smoke: Most of his recent follows are Texas staff, WRs, and 9.95ers In addition to X and Shawn Lewis’ RTs, Marion’s most recent tweet has been liked by at least Sark, a couple other UT analysts, and Agbo. X has been liking/RTing multiple things from him lately Helom RT’d a post of his earlier this week Neyor stuff He didn’t get Pitt play calling duties for the bowl game As always, this could all be nothing or just mean that we’re in conversations with him, but that sure seems like a lot.
  17. Leaving after the season to advance your career, which yes he has done frequently, is different from leaving days before a program’s biggest bowl game in recent history when it could easily wait. I’m not saying he has so much blind loyalty that he won’t take another job. I’m just saying he may have enough to not leave the team hanging this week when there’s no real reason to do so. I mean if I were him, I would do exactly that - tell Sark I’m in but that I want to keep it quiet until after the game. And if I were Sark I’d say absolutely no problem.
  18. Idk what a college “GM” role really means. LSU has had one (Austin Thomas) and it’s most definitely not higher than the head coach. My guess is that it’s a heavy focus on managing off-field stuff and consults with Sark on managing on-field staff. Or maybe this is the “football only AD” that people have wanted for a while. My personal view is that taking low-value shit off Sark’s plate is a big win, but obviously don’t want any Game of Thrones crap. GP needs to be clearly subordinate. Ideally GP manages some off field stuff, supervises the defensive side, and that’s it.
  19. Marion seems like a guy who’d have a lot of loyalty to the players and not want to ditch them right before a NY6 game. And there’s no major need for him to get here now instead of a week later. Obviously the smoke may still be wrong, but I don’t think it’s crazy at all for him to wait to announce. What are peoples thoughts on Hankton? Idk much about him but UGAs receivers haven’t ever done shit and any recruiting results are skewed by bags. Not my favorite choice.
  20. Totally think this is a great idea. Let Sark focus more on coaching the offense instead of a bunch of shit that someone else can handle just as well.
  21. To pump the breaks a bit, it is a very likeable tweet. But still this seems like more smoke. And with him not even getting playcalling for their bowl game, I would imagine he isn't getting Pitt's OC job. Seems like we'll get an answer either way soon after their bowl game.
  22. Shawn Lewis (WR Analyst) and X both RT'd a Marion post today (it's a good watch btw)
  23. Doubt this is the plan but Choice was GT’s offensive recruiting coordinator and supposedly a stud so could probably do some mentoring. Obv Glasscock and the other coaches can be teaching him too. Harris’ deleted tweet is actually interesting here - maybe some learning/mentorship plan is what sold him on staying.
