  1. Isn't it possible that they're promising multi-year NIL deals that will be signed as soon as the recruit is enrolled? And maybe the $30mm is an endowment amount like Clark Field. Idk but it just seems like they've gotta have something planned to keep these kids around. The boosters with that much money can't be quite that dumb.
  2. Legal NIL catching on and other schools catching up. I think A&M caught the usual buyers by surprise with the size of their budget this year, but there's no way the Bama/UGA/LSU/Oregon boosters don't adjust to the new standard being set. I expect A&M to remain competitive but moreso in the top 5 class range, not #1.
  3. He made some good plays and of course the announcers kept slobbing his knob whenever they could but I didn't see gamechanging dominance or anything.
  4. Even if the SEC/NCAA don't bust Aggy, this class isn't going to be replicable because now other teams know what they're up against. That Bama/UGA bag budget will likely expand enormously to keep up. I think they were all caught off guard this cycle. Of course that also ignores the impact of legal NIL, which has been discussed plenty here already.
  5. Watched most of the UA game. Banks seemed to play every snap for his team at RT, gave up one sack where the defender looked offsides (it was close so if not, perfect jump), maybe 1-2 other pressures, but otherwise was basically a brick wall. Overall impressive imo given he was playing RT instead of his usual LT. Campbell looked good. Hope he really has signed here (or does). Neto got beat quite a few times at LT/RT. Several of those pressures were to Finkley. Finkley looked good, pretty frequent pressures but no sacks. That's all I really noticed from our guys. Elsewhere, no one really stood out a lot. Maybe Luther Burden. Aggy guys didn't do too much either. Weigman looked pretty good but had a dropped INT. Stewart had 2 drops, not sure if any catches at all. Marshall caught several but also had a drop. Bobby Taylor dropped that giftwrapped INT from Weigman and probably gave up the most yards of any DB in the game.
  6. My 1H observations: Banks gave up a sack where the DE looked offsides (if not, absolutely perfect jump. Hard to blame him either way). Seems like he’s played the whole game at RT. 1-2 other pressures but otherwise has been stonewalling. Neto seems to be struggling a bit at LT. Saw one pressure on Devon, haven’t really noticed either way otherwise. Hard to tell when other guys are in. Finkley had an early win where Zach Rice pulled his helmet off for a penalty. For the Ags - Weigman looks good, Bobby Taylor bad, Marshall pretty good, and as mentioned zilch from Stewart so far Luther Burden and some Clemson DB prob MVPs so far
  7. Yeah he has stonewalled his guy every single play so far
  8. Is Margin Hooks the new FWK? He's involved with Stewart, Armani, and Hudson, 3 of the more roller-coaster recruitments of this cycle. Now he's openly campaigning for a guy to get paid before the guy even announces anything
  9. Perkins is supposedly announcing tomorrow but still taking more visits before signing day? I don't understand some of these kids. Also, Perkins told Rivals that he hasn't talked Brian Kelly. Wtf is Kelly doing, I actually feel like LSU had a shot there.
  10. Of course FCB would ask this
  11. Idk about OU but our transfers were all benchwarmers at their previous school so yeah wtf did we expect? Other than Dunn who I thought was OK and Richardson who is TBD. That doesn't mean transfers can't make an impact. Just get better ones. Ex: Bama and UGA both have transfers playing huge roles for them right now.
  12. FWIW, PFF has Jacob Cowing as the 2nd best available player in the portal (behind Zach Evans). Mumpfield is #4 with this to say: Mumpfield is a terrific route-runner. His separation rate against single coverage in 2021 sits in the 96th percentile among all FBS wide receivers, a key factor in his 78.2 receiving grade for the season. The wideout has received a slew of Power Five offers and is bound to make an immediate impact for the program he chooses. Taj Harris is #3, Neyor not on the list.
  13. Who is OU's new DL coach?
  14. What’s really killing bowl games is the total acceptance of opt-outs. I remember it was a huge deal when Christian Mccaffrey opted out of whatever random bowl game. Now you have guys like the stud Pitt QB opting out of his school’s first modern NY6 bowl and no one blinks an eye. Wtf! It actually seems more common now for NFL-bound guys to opt out than play (other than playoffs of course). So yeah, of course no one cares about even the NY6 bowls because the best players sit out.
  15. Agree that the sport is going down the drain and the portal plus NIL will make it worse. There are no enforceable rules and now everyone is a free agent every year. There’s a reason no other sport in the world operates with all 1-year contracts, no salary cap, and no draft. It’s fucking dumb. And making it even worse is that this is all still technically cheating fueled by third-party boosters, so while everyone does it to a certain extent, the winners are just whoever’s boosters are willing to cheat more than the rest under the table.
  16. This offensive staff is salty. I’m still not sure how the OL will be this year while the freshmen develop, but if Flood can get it fixed quick we’re gonna put up major points. Now if only Sark would address the defensive staff and S&C..
  17. I'm not a 247 subscriber but enjoyed this thread shitting on FCB: https://247sports.com/college/texas/board/21/Contents/spilling-the-beans-part-two-179374759/?page=1
  18. Just for context, Pitt’s stud QB opted out (v lame for a programs first NY6 bowl) and the replacement just went into the locker room hurt
  19. Breaks right as the Pitt game starts. Coincidence? I think not. Love the hire. Well done Sark.
  20. Idk what thread this belongs in but Venric Mark did his little night cap tweet thing today, in case it actually means anything
  21. SIAP but Roach and Nick Harris are doubling down saying Campbell hasn’t signed. 247 posters are also giving FCB shit for the Bonitto incident in the same thread
  22. He got injured so sure but he wasn’t as hyped up iirc and is a very different player. Hope he’s fully recovered bc he seems like a good fit. Verified 4.41 40 at 185 lbs as a recruit.
  23. Bottom line is that if Sark wins games and is sober, GP ain’t taking his job. Sark is young and an actual likeable human so he’s not getting usurped if successful. If GP helps win games by fixing the defense and freeing up more of Sark’s time to coach offense, it should be a good development for all. If he comes in with some useless responsibilities to just wait in the wings, that’s no bueno. I find it hard to believe most of the big money sees GP as an ideal HC candidate though. More likely we’d be chasing the newest shiny object.
