  1. I'm still very confused on how many we are allowed to take. Some say 7-8, Jeff Howe is saying it's however many we lose to the portal (for this cycle only). And maybe there are ways to manipulate it. Idk the truth.
  2. Foster better not be allowed to fucking return. I'm surprised on Coburn but whatever. Those other 3 are good news.
  3. Good post. It may or may not happen but getting 8 wins and ramping up NIL should solve a lot on the recruiting front. The staff seems serious about bringing in the right attitudes so as long as they can actually coach, there's still a very viable path to getting back on track. On the other hand, if they can't get 8 wins next year in a weakened Big 12, yikes. Speaking of that one class, not only do the 22's seem to have a great mentality, so do the 21s. Guys like Murphy, X, Connor, etc seem like dawgs and still very bought in. Side note - I can't wait to see JT Sanders unleashed. I hope he's working hard (and doesn't portal)
  4. To be fair, Charlie and Tom didn't have to contend with A&M blowing historical bag numbers out of the water. Even with our struggles this class would look a lot better if it weren't for them cheating in such a huge way.
  5. I really don't understand how they are so bad at closing. A lot of these guys were known as good recruiters, and iirc even Sark recruited well as HC at UW and USC. Obviously bags are a major issue and the season didn't help but it seems like the staff is just flat out not recruiting well despite their history. Since you've mentioned it a few times, curious what you mean by "holding his staff accountable." You just talking about firing the underperformers or something else?
  6. Or until the end of the semester which is probably sooner. But yeah it kinda sounds that way which would be dumb. I have no idea though.
  7. Jeff Howe posted this in response to a question on how many portal players you can take. Does this mean we could actually take more than 8 portal players as long as they're replacing outgoing transfers? For this cycle only. You can take as many as you want. What the NCAA is allowing teams to do in this cycle only is any player who enters the portal after Dec. 15 or the end of the fall semester, whichever comes first, can be replaced with another counter.
  8. I think the biggest difference will be that playing time is more important for portal players. An upperclassman can't risk sitting for a year or two while high school kids can afford to have that patience. Maybe it will also be easier to guarantee them NIL deals since they're already in college and can sign immediately, whereas high school kids have to trust the deal will happen once on campus.
  9. The Maryland LB might be #1 for me (not the off field issues one, the other one)

    TEXAS QB TALK

I think we need a transfer QB as much as anyone but I will admit that Casey's injury may have been bigger than we're giving credit for. He was unstoppable before the injury and quickly turned into a turd afterwards. Hard to say for sure if that was the injury or the tougher competition, but the injury probably played a part. Healthy Casey in Year 2 in the system might actually be a suitable option.
  11. tOSU boards seem to think Earnest Greene is a heavy lean to Bama now. Maybe that would help us with Campbell?
  12. I like it as long as that also means heavy involvement on defense. As I've said before, it would be good to help take some HC work off Sark's plate so he can spend more time on the offense.
  13. I think Temple was the one he was rumored for, along with Drayton
  14. These reports kind of make it sound like it's all up to Sark at this point but that everyone else will make it happen. Now, obviously 9.95ers are known for being full of shit so that could be completely false.
  15. Yeah that's good. So what's the working theory on this year's collapse?
  16. My money is on Fickell for OU. He wouldn't want anything getting out before this weekend's game so smokescreens make sense
  17. SIAP but can someone fill me in on wtf happened with TCU's defense this year and whether it's been like that other years recently? Somehow considerably worse than ours statistically (#117 DFEI yikes vs #62)
  18. I think he was supposed to be their starter this year but has been in the dog house. I think basically practice performance. Looks like he never really regained the job so I'm not sure how I'd feel about using a portal spot on him (feel like we have bigger positions of need). Article below https://www.tuscaloosanews.com/story/sports/college/football/2021/11/10/nick-saban-jahleel-billingsley-alabama-football/6379745001/
  19. Should we? Pretty sure I could land croots too with UGA's bag game and I don't remember UGA's WRs being anything special
  20. Exactly. Bama bags have a tendency of making people look better at recruiting than they actually are..
  21. Generally agree but I think it's different with 2021s. Someone like Vandagriff was never going to start this year, just like Ewers. Moss and Dart couldn't both start even if they're both ballers. And so on. Obviously this is a riskier path but there likely won't be a bunch of talented experienced starters available. If we're talking about a Junior or Senior, then yeah throw the recruiting ranks out the window (Ben Davis a good example)
