  1. Conference championship games are so dumb in this setup. 1-loss teams with similarly weak schedules like Indiana and ND are locked in but SMU is at risk because they made their CCG? And I presume Texas could drop below ND with a CCG loss? It makes no sense. If you think Bama is better than SMU, put them there now but don't punish teams for having an extra game.
  2. LSU is actually getting picks to land a 5-star flip OL from FSU
  3. A few takeaways from this: If SMU beats Clemson, Bama is almost definitely the 11 seed. Not a fun matchup for the 6 seed. If Clemson wins, it's SMU vs Bama for that final spot. tOSU isn't getting the 5 seed. If Texas loses and Oregon wins, it'll be between us and ND. No idea what the committee would do there. If they pick ND, then there's still a chance tOSU gets the 6 and UT 7, although I think that would be unlikely. Interestingly, 7 seed vs Indiana would be easier than 6 vs Bama although 2nd round tougher at 7 seed. Of course, it is HIGHLY likely that there will be upsets this weekend which shakes up all these assumptions. Almost every CCG is a near pick em.
  4. Agree with all that. I am curious in general how much schools actively try to fuck with rivals. If nothing else, just by driving up prices. If I were Jolin, I would definitely lob offers at every decent player on tOSUs roster even if I have no intention of pursuing heavily. Mizzou might want to do that with ATM too as revenge for the double flip.
  5. Steering this somewhat back on track, I will say this: I'm glad it is Michigan getting the Ellison wave and not someone that is more directly competitive with Texas. Can't say I give a shit about Michigan either way and all that talent has to go somewhere, rather it be them than a conference opponent or in-state school. Also it's fun to see them abuse tOSU lol
  6. I mean there is one pretty big difference...you actually OWN an NFL team and the heavy profits and value appreciation that come with it. It's a legit financial investment on top of the perks. In CFB you get what...access and the chance to cheer along like any Joe Schmo? You aren't recovering a dime of what you spend. So I'd actually disagree. If I were a hundred-billionaire I'd have much more interest in an NFL team
  7. She isn't stopping at QB either. Nate Marshall, supposedly Ty Haywood in play, the Ellisons are all-in on CFB
  8. WSJ has an article today about the Ellisons and Bryce Underwood recruitment. They had direct calls with him and his fam. And Tom Brady started calling him multiple times a week. Crazy world.
  9. All this seeding preference stuff has too many variables right now. Clemson beating SMU would throw a pretty big wrench into it. Boise would be the 3 seed and you'd have an SMU-Bama battle for the last spot. Do they punish SMU for a CCG loss? So the 6 seed could end up playing SMU then Boise, which is a better path than the 5 seed who would have Big 12 and Clemson. If UT loses, it's a battle with tOSU and ND for seeding. Again, does UT get punished for a CCG? And an Oregon loss would probably put them in the 5 spot.
  10. This. He could still end up good but there's no reason to have only 1 scholarship-level punter on the roster anymore.
  11. What's the story on lack of involvement with Ty Haywood? Denton Ryan has been a good pipeline for UT and sounds like he might be flipping to Michigan
  12. It's hard for me to get upset about decommits in the NIL era when it means that money can be redeployed elsewhere, often ending up pretty net neutral
  13. wtf happened to Justin Tucker this season?
  14. I'm very curious to see how the committee treats CCG losses when seeding. Like would Texas or PSU drop below ND who doesn't have to play one? Seems dumb if so, but I bet they would. If so, making the CCG and losing is 100% worse than not making it at all. Not only for seeding but also because you get one fewer week off to rest up and heal.
  15. Looks like negotiations are beginning lol
  16. Anyone have a list of Thorpe voters we can campaign on X? I know never tweet at croots but tweeting at sportswriters seems like fair game
  17. So the finalists we have are: Banks for Outland and Lombardi Barron for Thorpe and Nagurski How are we feeling about them?
  18. Idk who leaves but my needs list would be 3 DTs, 1 S, 1-2 WRs (depending on Golden decision), and 1 OT (the inexperience there is scary, and then imagine someone getting hurt) Neto at LG right? And Hutson gotta factor in somehow. Maybe he goes to LG or C
  19. Ironic given the thread title. Also awesome. Go Maalik
  20. Idk why but Matt Miller has always been a big Texas honk. Take his mock with a grain of salt although most mocks I see do have Banks, Cam and Bond going 1st.
  21. I assume they have some newfound budget space because of the Husan Longstreet flip to USC
  22. Why do you assume Golden is gone? Serious question. The only thing I've seen online is like 6th round projection which would often mean a return imo
  23. Clearly this hurts if you're ATM but their handwringing is a little silly tbh. No duh a Socal kid wants to stay home at USC and play for QB guru Lincoln Riley instead of shipping off for Texas and a bunch of coaches with zero NFL QB products.
  24. Wonder what a HS WR like Ffrench costs compared to a portal guy like Bond or Golden. At some point recruiting HS WRs may not be all that worth it
