  1. Da 5 Bloods, new Spike Lee movie on Netflix. I enjoyed it. Shot entirely in Vietnam. Good job capturing the beauty of the country as well as hitting HCMC landmarks like The Apocalypse Now Club (good times in there), Nguyen Hue Blvd, and the American War Crimes Museum. Solid acting. The third act got a bit ridiculous but I enjoyed the trip.
  2. Had an older white guy corner me with this statement.... 'You know, companies don't hire white men anymore.' 'Hmm. That's an interesting thing to say, you know, here at work.' 'Well, YOU KNOW what I mean.'
  3. Big fan of Jokic. You need to check out his recent weight loss. A different guy.
  4. Random question but who here has played a decent level of football? Reason I ask, how close or 'tight' is a football locker room where you have 75-100 players and different units (offense, defense, special teams). I have no idea personally. I just can't imagine what this does to a locker room. I always thought it was odd how no white players ever took a knee for Kaepernick and only a few black players did. It had to have caused a huge diversion in the locker room and they just had to release him. Now you've got this in New Orleans and you really wonder what it will do in that locker room.
  5. Good ol Prestonwood Mall. Here's to finally getting a refund on those Stars tickets.
  6. Wow! Just watched 'Cruising' starring Al Pacino, Karen Allen from Indiana Jones and a very young Ed O'Neil in his debut role. Apparently this movie had to be edited down to not receive an X-rating and you can see why. Interesting film. It's free on Vudu. Speaking of Pacino, he just turned 80 over the weekend. Hard to believe.
  7. Holy shit! The ol 4 Floors of Whores on Orchard Street across from the old Planet Hollywood. Did this bring back a memory. Went in there once with a buddy of mine and he spends about $80 on drinks for a couple of birds he's trying to impress and bring back to the room. Bars start to close, he invites the girls back to the room for a nightcap and they proceed to tell him the cost for services. He had no idea they were working girls. Ha! Boy, was he pissed. Never dragged anything out of that place but interesting people watching. (not all the girls in this place are pros. some clubs are legit nightclubs)
  8. Gotta be honest, I’ve never been to Pflugerville. Sounds like a town that would have great beer.
  9. It's incredible what this virus has done to travel. Not the end of the world but it's pretty stunning. I travel extensively and have done a lot of backpacking since the mid-90's. Last year at this time, I was in the middle of 10 week trip in Japan, Thailand and India. Just occurred to me tonight the only place I've been in all of 2020 so far is.....Wichita, Kansas. That's it. Wichita. And no plans for the future. What a difference a year makes.
  10. Out of curiosity, have you gotten a refund for these tickets?
  11. Did I hear Sal's parents got the CV or did I dream that?
  12. You nailed it. I go to a lot of the Thunder home games and this team is fun to watch. Love Gallinari, Paul and Schröder. Curious if and when the hammer falls on the trade deadline. What’s so frustrating about this stupid city is how hard it is to get people to go to the games now. ‘I just can’t get into the team this year’ is the common theme I hear. Quite a few empty seats as opposed to the Westbrook/Durant years. Unfortunate as this team is a hoot to watch.
  13. Haven't read the thread but...…...when is the last time you honestly stepped into a Grandy's? How did this place survive the 20th century?
  14. You guys seriously need to figure out a way to move Benn from that no-trade clause. The Stars bring in Perry and Pavelski for that much needed leadership that was lacking and Benn responds with one geno in early October and nothing since. What a team leader. I'm not even a Stars fan but might actually become one if they'd move this lug. What's Joe Nieuwendyk doing these days?

  16. Not sure how much time you have in Kansai but one interesting option in the region is Mt. Koya in Wakayama Prefecture. It's not far from Osaka. They have a thousand year old cemetery up there, fantastic for hikers and photo buffs. You stay with the monks in the various monasteries and participate in morning prayer. I was in Japan for ten years and it was one of the most memorable weekends I had over there.
  17. Elwood's Shack is the best BBQ I've ever had outside of Kansas City. Always stop by when in Memphis. Was kinda disappointed with Central. Also a big fan of Makeda's Cookies, right around the corner from the Civil Rights Museum.
  18. The bridge is worth a visit if you're ever in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. Went to the Bridge on the River Kwai Festival in 2010. Pretty impressive fireworks show on the bridge. And the cemeteries are really kept up. First time I visited many years ago, took a stroll to the other side of the bridge....the quiet side....walked about 50 yards and stumbled upon an elephant just chilling in the grass. Not something you just walk up on everyday. Yeah, yeah...csb.
  19. I blame myself. Booked a hotel room tonight across from that Home Depot for tomorrow night. Check the news.....oops. It's gone. Obviously no one answering at the hotel.
  20. Wasn't being serious
  21. Anyone catch Howard on Bill Maher's show? Kind of disappointing. Was hoping he'd go off on politics and talk about his relationship with Trump but he did what he always does on talk shows....talk about his experiences with Serious Radio and all that jazz. He was much better on Letterman back in the day.
  22. Went to see Ad Astra today and then walked across the hall to catch this one. Thought if it sucked, we'd just split. I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually enjoyed it. Sure, lots to dislike.....silly story line, the fact that EVERY Mexican male in the movie is a bad person, etc. etc. but I actually remained entertained. Funny how he goes from living with Thai's in the Golden Triangle to Mexicans in Southern Arizona. He seems to dislike white folks. By the way, the end credit shots of past Rambo movies.....was Stallone ripped back in the day or what? Dude was built in his prime.
  23. Went to see 'Apocalypse Now Director's Cut' tonight in IMAX. Wow! One of the best theater experiences I've had. Have seen this probably 30 something times and it's probably my favorite film of all time.....but seeing it in IMAX was impressive. Still a little irritated by Coppola's handling of the closing credits but whatever. By the way, there's showing it one more time on Sunday afternoon in IMAX. Highly recommended you check your local listings.
  24. True. I know I saw that milk truck more than once. But it looks like he got the Polanski cars right.
