  1. During the filming of the rodeo scene (which took a full week), the extras spent about 9 hours a night in the gym at Star Spencer High School loading up on a fantastic variety of catered food. As you would expect, people were helping themselves to multiple plates. We got out to the rodeo arena for the shoot and the catered sliced brisket started to hit. During a break, I went to one of the fancy portable potties behind the stands and devastated the facility. When I opened the door to return to civilization, there stood Daisy Edgar-Jones with her arms crossed waiting for the restroom. I nodded a 'hello' but she didn't crack a smile or have much of a reaction. It's looking like she survived the carnage of that porta-potty. God bless her.
  2. One thing I haven't seen mentioned in this thread (maybe I missed it).....if you have extra time in the Kansai area, you might check out Mt. Koya and staying at a monastery with the monks. If you're into photography, it's a pretty cool place. They're up in the mountains surrounded by 1000 years old cemeteries. One of the cooler things I did while living over there.
  3. LOL! Not sure I agree with the misery aspect. I played overseas for five years with Canadians and they're the best teammates and people you could ever meet. Very passionate fans. However, I will say, if you play against a guy wearing #67, you know he's from TO. Ha!
  4. Yeah, hockey in Canada is sort of like football in Texas. They act like they invented the sport and it's a huge part of the culture, but it's been ages since they won the big one. It will eat at you after a while.
  5. Nice gut on Tkachuk though, eh. I've never quite understood the anti-Canada thing in regards to these types of games. I often wonder if Americans - especially in southern markets - comprehend just how big hockey is up there. I joke around with my buddies up in Canada about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being the best Canadian athlete at the moment and I swear they don't even know who he is. If he doesn't shoot a puck, never heard of him. I think they might actually be serious.
  6. In the good old days, this third period would get ugly with Dave Semenko, Don Jackson, Kevin McClelland and crew dropping the gloves with these Florida shysters. Unfortunately, in today's friendlier game, it will be a facewashing festival. Don't want anyone to get hurt.
  7. Couple of buddies of mine from Edmonton at the game. I asked what they thought...... 'Great atmosphere. Nice arena. But what's with people going to get food during the power play?' Ha! Some things you just don't do north of the border.
  8. Every true hockey fan needs to see a game in that arena in Edmonton. Two best arenas in the NHL - IMO - Edmonton and Los Angeles. Staples is crazy but that Edmonton arena is like something out of 2070. Crazy.
  9. Jeesh.....you know you're getting old when you confuse Paul Coffey for Robby Kreiger.
  10. Good recommendation. Cool spots for yakitori with the salary crowd. Last time I was in Tokyo (2019), I took a stroll around Shinjuku and was blown away by the number of tourists. Heck, even Golden Gai.....gaijin everywhere. Tourism has really picked up. Twenty years ago, you'd rarely if ever see a tourist in one of those bars.
  11. Did they just advertise Game 7 Thunder/Mavs? It's like they already know.
  12. Did the refs overturn that Doncic foul on Dort? The sandwich bar was calling me.
  13. I thought it was interesting that the NHL announced that starting next season they will no longer say ‘too many men on the ice’ and instead say ‘too many players on the ice’.Also, ‘odd man rush’ is changing to ‘odd player rush’.
  14. Have ticket prices gone up considerably for Round 3 this year? I swear I bought tickets for Game 5 of the Vegas series last year for $75. Granted, we were looking at elimination. This year, cheapest tickets nosebleed are $140? Yikes.
  15. Colorado has hardly played their 4th line at all. Talk about shortening the bench.
  16. I knew Bissonette was going to say that. A true Welland lad.
  17. When Colorado plays a 3-on-3 in OT with McKinnon and Makar together, it's a thing of beauty. McKinnon is about as graceful of a skater as you'll ever see. Love watching that guy play.
  18. Everybody just looks gassed. Could be a quick OT.
  19. Dallas has clearly been the superior team and has played impressive D. I don't think many OKC fans truly expected to get that deep in the playoffs this year and are kind of considering this part of the rebuild process. It's a very young team and you gotta learn how to lose before you learn how to win. Just winning the West was a hell of an accomplishment. I think OKC and Minnesota have been a surprise to everyone. A lot of talk in OKC about trading Giddy and some picks for a Naz Reid type player. Mikal Bridges is a longshot target.
