  1. That rodeo scene at the beginning of the clip was shot in an open field around the house at 8812 NE 23rd St in Spencer, Oklahoma. They did an amazing job building that set. The Colonial Motel across the street is the motel destroyed in the movie (the truck flies up and hits the neon sign). Universal bought that old motel and just destroyed it for the movie. Really fixed it up and put in a pool. Anyway, we shot a week of footage out there for the rodeo and then had to shut down early for the SAG strike (July 13). In December, they called most of us back to finish the scene. What was impressive is that they actually went back out there and rebuilt that rodeo arena. Heck of a lot colder shooting those rodeo scenes in December than July.
  2. I was about to say.......did anyone here watch that Jets/Avs series? Winnipeg got absolutely rolled......and it was highly impressive. I don't see Dallas advancing but what do I know. This should be a great series.
  3. What's the overall consensus amongst Dallas fans on the Mavs bench?
  4. Now it's Pavelski's turn. Got to get him rollin.
  5. Nice!! Someone can lift the freagin puck.
  6. WTF happened? One shot on goal and a geno?? Just turned it on
  7. One thing I LOVED about the Thailand episode is that he didn't include any of the Hollywood cliches with Thailand........elephants, tuk-tuks, monks, hookers, etc. He did do the floating market and Muay Thai but still. He stayed away from the sleezy parts of BKK and focused on the real Thailand. The charm of the people, the street food, etc. Rock climbing. What travel show goes to Thailand and does rock climbing. I lived in Bangkok for 5 years and the one thing you miss is the people. Sweetest, funniest people you'll ever work with......and Conan captured that.
  8. Losing Demko could result in millions of dollars in damages to downtown Vancouver. Granted, a healthy Demko could result in millions of dollars in damage to downtown Vancouver.
  9. I was shocked you guys didn't go after better goaltending at some point during the season. No way you're going to win a Cup with Wedgewood stepping in for a slumping Otter.
  10. I don't know. Zion being re-evaluated May 1. That's Game 5 of the series. I don't see OKC sweeping this series and I don't see them containing Zion. Will be an interesting series. If OKC wins this series and LA gets past Dallas, you'll have the Thunder taking on Westbrook, Harden and PG13. Fun series. If OKC can't get past the Clippers, you'll see a lot of Thunder fans rooting for those 3 to get a ring.
  11. I went to one of his TBS tapings in Burbank and ended up on the front row. Conan came out and shook hands with everyone up front and we were all impressed with how tall he is in real life. The dude really is a large guy. But what's impressive about Conan is how he just has this incredible natural ability to make people laugh. He came out for twenty minutes before the show and answered questions from the audience and had people laughing. No warm-up comedian. Also been to the other shows - Colbert, Meyers, Fallon, Kimmel - and they all had warm up comics. Heck, even The View had a warm-up comic. Conan didn't need a warm-up. Just came out and nailed it. It's incredible how well this guy connects with people.....whether in a studio or third-world country.
  12. I think you guys win this series. Vegas has been playing some mediocre hockey since Jan 1. Dallas has simply played better, especially since March 16 (12 wins, 2 losses). You guys have confidence in that locker room heading into the playoffs. Your boys are rollin and have depth up front. My favorite coach used to say "It's not about how many games you win before Christmas, it's how many you win after."
  13. What a riveting post-game interview with Otter. Jeez Louise - this new generation of pro hockey players have personalities about as exciting as a bag a broccoli.
  14. Have they done away with the play in tournament? How did Golden State automatically become the 8th seed?
  15. Just a completely random and off-the-wall question for Stars season ticket holders......how much have your tickets increased since you started going to Stars games?
  16. The Utah Stormin Mormons!! This should be exciting.
  17. He definitely captured the spirit of the thing.
  18. Yeah, that was a heck of a game. Dort will absolutely drive you nuts with his shooting. Oh well.
  19. For Stars fans, what are your REALISTIC expectations of this team this year? Dallas looks dangerous but Edmonton.....Vancouver....there's some talent in the West. Winnipeg doesn't do much for me, for some reason, but would be great to see some Canadian teams go deep this year. Can you imagine a Canucks/Leafs final. Won't happen but would be the TV event of the decade on Canadian televisions.
  20. That is hilarious. Saw this kid at a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City about ten years ago. Didn't have the heart to tell him he had the greatest knock-off jersey of all time.
  21. I don't think you're going to see Helen Hunt at all. I would be very surprised. Maura Tierney will play a parent. I spent 3 weeks working on this movie. Really enjoyed the experience although they were some extremely long days. Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos and Katy O'Brien were very nice to cast and crew. What's interesting about the trailer still shot above (looking out at the tornado) is that it was shot inside the Prairie Surf Studios in downtown Oklahoma City. It was formally the Myriad Convention Center arena prior to building the Chesapeake Arena for the Thunder. They shoot movies in there now including the main set for Tulsa King Season 1. The movie theater scene (with people getting sucked out of the theater) was shot inside the main arena. Took a few weeks to shoot that. Pretty cool process. Cannot wait for July 19.
  22. I'm thinking Fast Times at Ridgemont High over Breakfast Club, IMO
