  1. Kirk Bohls saying he was told by Sankey that UT will play return game at Tuscaloosa in 2023, indicating 2024 is the earliest UT and OU move.
  2. We started wearing them down at the end, but Bijan was 18 for 64 other than the two big runs in the 2nd half.
  3. Georgia brought in a full A/C system for their locker rooms at South Carolina. Will Muschamp is now D-coordinator at Georgia and used to coach at South Carolina, so I guess he knew what to expect in the locker rooms.
  4. They had one stat: This is the first time since 2011 we have held our first 3 opponents to 20 points or less. We've been pretty bad on defense.
  5. They were definitely someone we could have lost to. I remember on the season prediction thread, most of the people were scoffing at me for saying UTSA was not a sure thing.
  6. I have seen a couple of flagrant targetings that the refs missed. There's an argument that it shouldn't be initiated, but I don't have a problem with it. But it should be like everything else, clear, undisputable evidence. I was screaming at Sark through the TV to call timeout!
  7. It was a classic tackle. He didn't do any of the things that the targeting rule is trying to stop. Face to face classic tackle.
  8. I hate the slide rule. People used to just go down. When you're down, you can't get hit.
  9. I don't think anybody knows what targeting is anymore.
  10. I saw about 3 hits on UT players after they were already 5 yards out of bounds (beyond the white). What? Were these SEC refs? If they were Big 12, CDC needs to talk to the commissioner about this crew. I saw about 3 hits on UT players after they were already 5 yards out of bounds (beyond the white). What? Were these SEC refs? If they were Big 12, CDC needs to talk to the commissioner about this crew. Maybe even President Hartzell.
  11. Who is whining about backups trying to score? They want to play.
  12. Down 17-7. That was execution? I thought the team looked unprepared and unmotivated at the start. Absolutely nothing epic about that. But it happens. They came around and won going away against a decent team. UTSA's QB is good.
  13. Looks like Sark has gotten an unlimited recruiting budget. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/34603436/texas-ran-280000-tab-recruiting-visit-arch-manning-8-others "...The Manning visit -- in which almost $280,000 was spent on the nine recruits, according to The Athletic -- has resulted in four commitments so far. Manning, nephew of Super Bowl winners Eli and Peyton Manning, announced he would play for the Longhorns on June 23, four days after his recruiting trip. His high school teammate, three-star tight end Will Randle, committed at the end of the visit on June 19. Among the highlights of the visit, according to The Athletic: a full spread in their rooms at the Four Seasons Austin, a photo shoot at DKR Texas Memorial Stadium, a trip to driving range Top Golf, multiple lavish meals and a breakfast at the home of coach Steve Sarkisian. EDITOR'S PICKS QB Arch Manning brings family legacy to Texas 82dPete Thamel The extravagance appears to be standard at Texas, which spent nearly $350,000 the weekend of June 24 on 14 recruits; 12 players from that group have committed to the Longhorns. The $630,000 total on two weekend visits shows how much Texas has invested in recruiting compared to recent years. Athletic Director U published NCAA financial reports that showed Texas spent $1,275,368 on recruiting for the 2019 fiscal year. That was the 13th most spent on recruiting that year, which was led by Georgia at $3,676,858...."
  14. I remember the '77 season here. Until Austin put a stop to it after 4 or 5 weeks, there were spontaneous parades on the drag for hours after every win. That was the team where Earl won the Heisman and went unbeaten in the regular season after going 5-5-1 in DRK's last year. Nothing much was expected of Texas in '77.
  15. I don't know if its this board or twitter, but things don't work as easily as they used to with cut and paste.
  16. Not too bad, but UK does lose the one school they would most want. And I can't see why Auburn would be stuck with Vandy. Kentucky, South Carolina or Missouri would make more sense.
  17. That's Bama. No surprise. You just haven't seen them much.
  18. Other than the lining up offsides, it was stuff they usually just don't get caught on. They interfere. They face mask. They do late hits. They just usually don't get called. Maybe they will get better about doing it on the other side of the referee as the season goes on. One thing I don't like about going to the SEC is how infrequently their refs will call late hits. They let a lot of stuff go on.
  19. That the purpose was to give them numbers to show potential expansion candidates.
  20. This is the last I will comment on this, but you people who claim he was looking at and throwing to #2 are just total idiots who won't let go of their stupid take. But I'm sure you will still look at this full video and claim he was trying to complete a pass.
  21. "The Big 12 said last week that it will hold talks with incumbent broadcast partners ESPN and Fox Sports that could lead to an early extension of its media rights deal. The news comes not long after the Big Ten agreed to a new media rights package with NBC, CBS and incumbent FOX and as the Pac-12 is negotiating its next round of rights deals in the wake of USC and UCLA’s departure to the Big Ten. The current Big 12 contract runs through the 2024-25 academic year. ESPN reported that any potential deal would likely be a “short-term extension” meant to give the conference concrete financial figures in its quest to lure new members. Should the talks fail to result in a deal, ESPN and Fox will still maintain their traditional exclusive negotiating window in February 2024, per ESPN...." https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2022/09/cfp-expansion-big-12-rights-deal-sinclair-bally-rsns-nba-league-pass-price-cut/ Hadn't seen it spelled out that way before.
  22. Its the Big 12. They don't call holding on the offense on passing plays. But they will call it on defensive linemen!
  23. Some of you are pretty gullible. Do you really think Young was throwing it at anyone??? He was being flipped over, upside down and did a deliberate grounding. Yes, a ref could have given him credit because a guy was 10 yards away from where it landed, but that would not be a rational interpretation of the play.
  24. Well maybe a stupid ref could think that. But what I said still stands. There weren't any eligible or ineligible receivers on that half of the end zone and Young was throwing it towards a spot 5 yards deep in the end zone. Young wasn't looking at anyone. He was upside down (and down).
