  1. it is so, so, so very bad. Hate watching something can be enjoyable in its own right, but the writing and acting on this show - with a few exceptions - is awful.
  2. Do you actually think Texas would be so concerned with playing an experienced RB for the Cheez It Bowl that they would be leveraged into panicking and paying more for Wisner so he could play in the bowl game? If so, I can assure you that is not the case.
  3. you need to subscribe to my newsletter for that info - $10.95.
  4. Do you think you could be convinced of anything, provided enough of the world's best psychologists, psychiatrists, motivational speakers, and negotiators? Not just your opinions, but core aspects of your sense of self and how you interact with the world? I'm not trying to be confrontational or play gotcha, I just think satisfaction with this show is enhanced by exploring the questions presented around what are foundational aspects of being human - what makes people happy? the interplay between the individual and the corporate? the rational and irrational parts of humanity? Can you be loved as an individual when everyone is treated the same? Is it wrong to be dissatisfied with that (as Carol is)? - and less about looking for plot holes about the hive mind or focusing on the aliens. I'm not saying those things aren't legitimate, and everyone is obviously free to enjoy shows on whatever terms they like - it is just that the show is pretty transparently an exploration of humanity (with COVID and AI clearly serving as background inspiration) and not engaging it on those terms will lead to frustration and dissatisfaction.
  5. A few of the early enrollees are practicing, but they cannot play in the bowl game.

the bolded was definitely not true for Baxter. His biggest flaw was his poor contact balance and lack of toughness, which led to an inability to break tackles commensurate with his measurables. Texas will be better at the RB position next year, undoubtedly. I think it is extremely likely that Texas will be significantly better at RB next year. I will fondly remember Wisner for what he did, but he was miscast as a lead back and Baxter was a miss.

this is good for the long term health of the program. It is good to establish that the team won't overpay for non-premium talent for nostalgia reasons.
  8. PK should be remembered fondly as a great DC who oversaw some excellent Texas defenses and left the defense in a much better place than he found it. But it is undeniable that tying the secondary to the front was a persistent issue, and the only truly excellent defense Texas fielded had Barron, Mukuba, and Taaffe - three highly intelligent, very experienced players - running the secondary. PK's greatest strength was in his willingness/ability to collaborate. He was truly a low ego coach in a profession and era where egos run rampant. The downside of his approach is that the defense often suffered from the "too many cooks in the kitchen" dynamic. You know that old saying, that a camel is a horse made by committee? The Texas defense frequently embodied that saying, in my view. FWIW, I am a fan of this move. I think it takes guts to move on from a very successful coordinator, and I understand it can be read as either bold or desperate. I do think PK's bend don't break style is a better match for teams without access to elite talent, and not as effective against disciplined, talented offenses that top teams tend to have. One of my low key bigger worries for next year was having Tennessee and Miss St on the schedule, given PK's known struggle against the veer and shoot (especially with TN being the first road game of the year). I will never, ever, ever understand why Texas didn't pressure a gimpy Lagway - and in some ways, that decision/gameplan/unwillingness to adapt cost Texas the playoff. Staff continuity is a good things in many ways, but it can also lead to stagnation. Texas had gotten too comfortable, in my opinion, and since Bo Davis left lacked a true ass kicking voice. I think - beyond just being a good and experience coordinator - Muschamp will bring a lot of needed intangibles to the program.

Whittington was a true team guy. Moore was a guy who figured out it was good for business to be perceived as a team guy.

Moore threatened to transfer near the end of the portal window last year and leveraged a pay bump. He then proceeded to change and turn into a diva and turned in a season that fell short of expectations. What makes you think he’d get the same money from Texas this year? Moore is exactly the kind of guy who needs to be pushed out of the program - whether transferring to another school or going to the NFL. It is good that players can get paid now. But money can and does change people. It is hard enough to figure out how the money affects players in the NFL - guys who are professionals and older. It is much harder to figure out who can and can’t handle it when the players are teenagers, many of whom have friends/families in their ears without their best longterm interests in mind. Sark has talked a lot about how Texas doesn't lead with NIL in recruiting and how they try to ID guys who love football, because those guys are more likely to develop and not be changed by the money. If that is true, and it is an ongoing learning process for any program, then (in my view anyway) it is a sign of health to say no to established players who thinking they are worth more than they actually are. Texas would have been better served saying no to Moore last year, and I’m hopeful that lessons are being learned.
  11. the following is all public information: https://stormininnorman.com/patty-gasso-finally-gives-update-on-sophia-bordi-return-oklahoma-sooners-softball Bordi was not with the team most of last season. She returned home to, in her words, "work on her personal/mental health"
  12. There's more to it than that.
  13. I agree, but then I wonder about how to form any conclusions about any QB in a Sherrone Moore offense.
