  1. isn't it now going to be run by the 1883 Provision Company?
  2. Don't overthink this one. I think we can all be grateful he meaningfully recovered from a very serious condition and wish him well in his future endeavors.
  3. playing like a team satisfied with their game against Gonzaga and thought they'd waltz to the final four. Lazy in transition, poor offense, lack of focus.
  4. finally able to tune in...there was a reason I was asking about bigs depth earlier today. Glad to see we seem to be taking it in stride. Hopefully we can finish strong.
  5. appreciate the breakdown - would you say Faye is more in the traditional 5 role like Jones, comparable on defense but more limited on offense?
  6. I'm curious for your perspective on bigs depth - how much of a gap do you see among Jones/Gaston/Faye/Muhammad?
  7. Matt Miller's 7 round mock is very Texas friendly - 8 of the first 84 picks, 9 picks overall: 15. Murphy - Indianapolis 28. Mitchell - Buffalo 32. Worthy - Kansas City 54. Sweat - Cleveland 56. Brooks - Dallas 69. Sanders - LA Chargers 81. Ford - Seattle 84. Jones - Pittsburgh 240. Whittington - Carolina
  8. I still can't get over that jump ball at the end of regulation. What an incomprehensibly insane call to make in a critical spot. I am in awe.
  9. this smug, know it all announcer who has to insert himself into every single call is driving me absolutely insane.
  10. Gaston had a rough closing few minutes there. Several blown opportunities close/fumbled balls out of bounds.
  11. Blackshire might be too heavy, but it isn't because he is fat.
  12. that might be one of the most myopic and pathetic articles I've ever read. Arch isn't obligated to play the 9.95'er game and it doesn't mean a damn bit of difference for who he is as a person or player.
  13. Fair was incredible down the stretch - scored the last 13 points for Syracuse, had 32 overall.
  14. My personal favorite example of this was in fall camp 2 years ago. After one particular practice, Anwar reported that Agiye Hall had a great practice and was turning heads with his athleticism. I remember reading that - knowing that Hall had left practice about 15 minutes in never returned - and realizing just how much of the "reporting" is total conjecture and taking calculated shots in the dark.
  15. feather in the cap for the strength/conditioning and sports science folks at Texas. Congrats to Worthy. He has had a pro mentality to maximize his talent from the very first day he stepped on campus.
  16. Brock does himself no favors with crap like this.
  17. Some movies hit you over the head with an anvil. Some use a scalpel. Some movies like to preach at you and some like to ask questions and invite reflection and examination. Most people are either plot driven, character driven, or vibe/setting driven. I'm a character guy myself, but ultimately you like what you like. No shame in that. Sure - Zone of Interest wasn't introducing a brand new concept. But what I liked about the film is how it went about showing its point. The sounds of Auschwitz were going on constantly - did you key in on them, or did you eventually find yourself adapting and tuning them out? We know Nazis are evil - but that evil is presented in a different way. The family is otherwise ordinary, but for the absolutely confounding fact that they seem totally unfazed by what is happening all around them. Grandma only lasts a few days before having to bail, so we know that the awfulness of what is happening is perceptible to others. So why are these people so immune? Dad is consumed with advancing his career. He wants recognition for his work, more titles, more respect, more worth. Mom is invested in her kids and is willing to go to great lengths to ensure they have the best environment to live in, according to her eyes. Wouldn't you agree that the pursuit of professional success, and the way parents get myopic and absorbed by what they perceive to be the best for their children, transcend Nazi Germany and would be in operation today? If so, what are some things that your are absorbed in? What is distracting you from the presence of evil around you? I get why this film might not be liked or leave someone feeling it is lacking in plot, but to reduce it "banality of evil, I get it" is to do a great disservice to what makes the film worthwhile.
  18. those were my two favorites as well, though I liked Nine-Five Senses significantly more. Wild Summon was so strange - I didn't particularly like it or not like it, but it was certainly memorable. I thought War Is Over was insipid and only nominated because it is backed by John Lennon's name. I'm already annoyed it is probably going to win.
