  1. In the NFL you can be 10-7, make the playoffs, and win the Super Bowl. It is good to not get too high or too low during the season and take a detached perspective. College is not the NFL. Attitude reflects leadership, and that first quote should be rage inducing for anyone who cares about Texas football. This staff badly needs another Bo Davis type figure.
  2. I think it is now clear that the NFL style program that Sark has sought to implement is a massive failure. NFL players are grown men who have made it through the college ranks as elite players, and with small roster sizes most players have to scratch and claw to obtain and maintain their roster spot. They have the maturity and professionalism to handle a professional mindset. Sark has said to anyone who will listen that Texas was going to pace themselves to prepare for a 16 game season. Implicit in that is that Texas will, naturally of course - by virtue of how highly ranked and outlandishly talented the players are - make the playoff. The regular season is for preparing to peak in the post season. They ditched the spring game. They eased up on fall camp. They've been less physical in practice. Sark openly talks about wanting to avoid running the team down, wanting to avoid injuries. There is some wisdom in that, but wherever the ideal balance is, Texas is far away from that. That works in the NFL with professionals. We're learning that doesn't work with college players. It creates a soft culture. Players who aren't finished products but act like they are. There were a handful of players who left it all on the field Saturday. The majority were largely indifferent. Attitude reflects leadership. This is a self inflicted lost year. I hope adjustments are made and the program gets back to acting like wins are earned and not assumed.
  3. I was thinking the same thing.
  4. To be fair, the refs were so surprised a Texas running back turned the corner it was natural to assume it had to be holding.
  5. You should do a little digging on Florida/Tennessee while Peyton was QB - in particular Spurrier's comments toward Tennessee. If there is some kind of Manning ban on rivals - and I'm skeptical there is - then Florida would most definitely be off the list.
  6. You realize you are talking about college players and not the national team, right? These players aren't professionals, they are young players who need to be developed. A huge part of development is instilling standards, cultivating competitiveness, demanding effort, etc. All the observations of the team that you decry are symptoms of poor coaching.
  7. Schloss has in mind football when handling Williams, and the hamstring issues were definitely cause for concern for baseball staff because of the possible impact on football. Sark pays no mind about baseball when it comes to how to deploy Williams, and baseball isn't going to say a peep about it.
  8. I mean both sisters playing for Texas.
  9. probably a question for @Js1, but where to the Stafford sisters rank as best Longhorn sister tandem?
  10. Skinner absolutely tanked team chemistry last year, starting in the summer before the season.
  11. this was, uh, referring to Stanford.
  12. brutal collapse
  13. that was by far the nicest visiting fan experience I've ever had. It was almost annoying. It was the loudest opposing stadium I've ever been to. That stadium sucked from a logistical perspective (reminiscent of the Cotton Bowl), but credit where it is due - it was a great viewing experience and the crowd definitely affected the game.
  14. Berger came through last week. I believe he was an inside LB at Stanford? I think he left Stanford and transferred to Texas as a student in 2024? Not really much to be excited about.
  15. they practiced in helmets Wed/Thurs, helmets and shoulder pads Fri/Sat. Full pads today.
  16. Tate Haver is Logan Snead's step son. https://texaslonghorns.com/sports/football/roster/tate-haver/14406 For what it is worth, Texas football had Paxton Anderson - grandson of Jerry Jones - as a walk on from 2020-2023.
  17. Who's to say? I lose track. Hard to tell fact from fiction sometimes. As a total non-sequitur, I was at the Cotton Bowl several hours early. There wasn't much going on as players were getting into their warm up routines. I did watch Parker Livingstone do nothing but practice high pointing the ball on end zone fades, probably 20 or 30 in all. He seemed really good at it.
  18. I'm not condoning it or defending it, but I think you need to emotionally prepare yourself for at least a dozen end zone fade throws to Parker Livingstone this season.
