  1. best way I can describe how I feel right now: of course, the obligatory:
  2. Bujcevski didn't tear his achilles, he tore his ACL. The reason he didn't play this year wasn't because he was unable to make it back from injury.
  3. According to that 247 link, Latham is originally from Wisconsin and played at Waukesha his freshman and sophomore years before transferring to IMG. I wonder if the recent events have had any effect?
  4. If Samples is ambitious - and by all accounts he is - then it is a step forward in his career to be at a SEC/Big 12 school, especially a blue blood like Texas. A smart, ambitious coach would look for a place where he can look good and shine. Being a WR coach for Worthy, Jordan Hudson (presumably) and Evan Stewart (possibly) in Sark's offense would be a good start on the next rung of his career ladder. Of course there is downside risk if Sark completely flames out and the team is awful for the next 2-3 years. But whether or not Sark has the goods as a head coach, he has proven his bona fides as an offensive mind. There are worse things on a young, offensive minded football coach than to soak in Sark's offensive philosophies for a few years.
  5. prepare for another Chip Brown article on how the team has let Casey Thompson down.
  6. Alex Loeb is wrong. Thompson's thumb is a non-issue, and chatter about it is misdirection.
  7. It is true. Tyler Johnson did not travel. I'd have to double check, but I do not think he traveled to Arkansas either.
  8. this is unbelievable. Un-freaking-believable
  9. FWIW, Barron did make the travel squad. JT did not travel.
  10. I'm sure there is a better thread to put this in, but I can't make the game and have a ticket to give away. DM me if interested. Not looking for money, just wanting the ticket to find a good Surly home. Section 17.
  11. it's neither one of those things. There is a reason the 9.95'ers are respecting privacy on this one. It isn't discipline, it isn't a criminal issue, it isn't a character issue. I hope he is, indeed, back in the spring, and remain optimistic for his long term potential in the program.
  12. I've worked as a CPS lawyer for almost 20 years, and have been involved in foster care the entire time. I've tried to stay out of this thread because I knew it was just going to piss me off. There are too many people who have strong opinions on things they do not even come close to understanding, and a particularly virulent strain who simply see this issue as yet another partisan football. That disgusts me. Bonus points to the folks who immediately pivoted to abortion. About half my career was in NY and the other half in Texas. Very different states politically and with somewhat different foster care systems. There are things NY does well that Texas does not and things Texas does well that NY does not. I'm not saying political policies have no effect - obviously they do - but the solution to this problem is not primarily political. To answer a few questions I saw upthread: - Texas does allow same sex adoptions. The link that was posted came from an advocacy group and was not a good faith representation of the issue. - It is essentially free to adopt within the foster care system. Foster parents get a monthly subsidy and adoptive parents get a subsidy until the child turns 18. The home study and other required parts of the adoption are handled by the CPA (child placing agency). Adoptions are expensive when they are private arrangements outside the foster care system. The upside of adopting outside the system is that you do not have to foster first and run the risk of family reunification, which is always the initial goal of a foster care placement (except in very rare instances) - I am not particularly looking to engage Sheeeit's post, as it is nothing short of batshit insane and full of made up assertions not connected to reality. But lest anyone read that and be misled - there are most certainly newborns in foster care. There may be a waiting list to adopt newborns outside the system, but I can assure you plenty of newborns are taken into foster care. - orphanage is a bit of an old fashioned term, but there are most definitely residential group homes all over the state. BearSchlong - you/your wife have my respect. Same to F250 and others (apologies, but I don't remember all the names) who have stepped up and put skin the game. The biggest need for any system is to have good people doing a very difficult (and often thankless) job.
  13. This is true. Money is not injured and is also on the travel squad.
