  1. I'll be there this fall for about a month exploring the country. Looking forward to it.
  2. This is not true and for the reasons stated by 956.
  3. I am so glad she chimed in with that. Perhaps off the top the NBA can recoup some of their investment. Let’s give them back 60 million which is five years worth of financial support. Now split the money from there. The NBA wouldn’t do that because it’s a pittance compared to what they haul in, but thinking all of a sudden these players will just get to take in 200 million when only one player is getting them attention right now is silly. Bueckers will be her own cash cow for the league soon enough, but not yet. The team owners can basically let them hold out and strike if they want. They are not in any kind of position to be making demands yet. Not that these women understand they need to have long-term thinking. I expect them to make ridiculous demands, go on strike and then come back to an owner-friendly deal due to their lack of planning this stuff out for the long-haul.
  4. I want the league to succeed, BUT I hope the cash infusion/actual positive revenue flow happens AFTER most of these clowns are out of the league. I wish reporters would hammer them after every game and really drive home the point that the minority of people watching this league are fans of someone other than Clark or the Fever. Without Clark this league stays forever attached to the monetary infusion from the NBA. Nobody is tuning in to see these jealous clown frauds. I hope Clark sits out until the playoffs so we can once again get a reminder that Clark is the SOLE REASON for the attendance and ratings jump. These players are just not bright. This isn’t just jealousy. This is flat out stupidity with zero ability to read the room or the financials for that matter. Demanding money that is not there yet and then still trashing the only reason you have a shot at being financially solvent for the first time in league history is very on brand for this league.
  5. Yep nothing more than that. He’s throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks.
  6. This is a movie I am not certain I want to see. I personally feel that I do not want to re-live any COVID-era stuff just yet. Seeing the massive loss of life up close in NYC is probably why I am reluctant to watch a movie dealing with COVID even though we are more than five years out from when it began.
  7. I have followed his career since he left Lancaster to go play for Flower Mound Marcus. He has never been a player I have cared much for. Unless he pulls a 2020 Rondo this is a wasted roster spot. The only guys that have ever suited up for the Purple and Gold I did not root for were Smush Parker and Chris Mihm. I remember the Lakers getting Mihm and he put up an age 25 stat line almost identical to the one Vlade Divac had when he was THIRTY-FIVE. Mihm wasn’t a winner and was soft. Smart has an edge about him, but never learned to shoot. I‘ll root for Smart, but only until he inevitably crashes and burns.
  8. Well for sure they did. Elgin Baylor spent weekends serving his country while playing. Guys made very little and worked in the off-season in regular jobs in football and basketball especially. Something that I live by in life is that I hope I do something to make the lives of people and generations I will not be alive to see, better. Some of these players need to adjust their thinking to something similar. They may not reap a financial windfall, but they are laying the groundwork for future generations of players and perhaps revenue growth will help them in their later years with a better pension and healthcare. The instant gratification mindset never leads to long-term stability.
  9. I want these women to get paid. The league is on the precipice of being financially solvent for the first time in its three decade history. The players need to remember that in order to get substantially more money in their contracts they have to e to generate more revenue. The old heads on their way out of the league will grumble that they never got what they deserved, but honestly I do not care. This league is so close to better paydays, but they still have to see an uptick in revenue far past the break even point before they get paid.
  10. I love seeing that. Got up and finished the dunk with minimal effort. The faster the WNBA gets players like that the better.
  11. Saw the final episode of Vera this week. Took me awhile to get around to it, but it ended in a really good place. Brenda Blethyn is such a great actress and that she was still doing this show while approaching 80 is pretty cool. I kind of hope they might think about doing with this show what they did when Inspector Morse ended way back when and make a show about the co-star. The cast all work well with each other so I'm in if they decide to do it. The next to last episode of Vera had Kevin Whately in it as a retired DI. Whately was the co-star in Inspector Morse and later the star of Inspector Lewis. I didn't recognize him at first as he was 10 years older than when I last saw him. Kinda cool to include him though at the end of Vera's run.
  12. Grave pissing tour addition right there.
  13. I’ll be honest. I had no idea who this man was before earlier this week. That’s mostly just because I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to much in the way of pop culture and whatnot. I found him to be funny. I know this is from fours years or so ago, but this bit made me laugh because it seems like something that’d actually happen in real life in this timeline.
  14. A guy who can't shoot (Has never been his strength) and is on the wrong side of 30 will be expected to come in and do what exactly? Take passes from Luka and have the fans reliving the days of Westbrook when fans were yelling at him not to shoot? This is a guy who is cooked. Unless he goes back in time about 5 or 6 years this will not end well.
  15. The take no responsibility for my actions and instead blame the band statement. Yeah this is a garbage person who has definitely cheated many times if we go by the person who used to report to him at another company.
  16. Every time I see that name I now hear it in the voice of one of the characters from a recent Japanese movie called Perfect Days who asks who Van Morrison is.
  17. The tact I will take here is that at least Derka has a space where he can let out things that are annoying or frustrating. It’s not that big a deal I think. It pales in comparison to the football board whining and gnashing of teeth during the season. I rarely visit the football forum during that part of the year. @Derka I say that only to say to enjoy the day you were given. A lot of people did not wake up yesterday to get the chance to enjoy another day, but you did. I know you understand that mentality, but a reminder never hurts for all of us at times. Seeing something that you don’t appreciate or like, well, a good course of action is to just change the channel. I don’t watch things I don’t enjoy so I completely skip the Bobby Hurley experience during basketball season. You think UT basketball was rough with Rodney Terry, hoo boy, have I got a coach for you to hate watch. I think you bring a whole lot of passion to the basketball board especially. None of this is worth getting annoyed about, but it’s cool to let off some steam here when you do feel that way.
  18. The only ESPY moment I can recall with any clarity is this one. Other than that I cannot tell you a thing about this awards sh W. The things he mentions that make for a great day is something I still remind people of when their own day feels like it’s gone off the rails.
  19. I mean the reaction as soon as they saw themselves was great. I have never cheated and I take a hardline stance on it because I have seen personally what it does to someone, but that’s funny. Hope that CEO gets a 30/70 split thanks to that video.
  20. There’s maybe 10 teams each year that realistically have a chance to win a title. Other teams will just have e to figure it out when it comes to money and the players they can get. As an ASU supporter I’m mostly indifferent. If they win that’s cool. If they don’t that’s cool too. I have zero objections to teams and boosters spending whatever they want to field a winner. I also hope aggy spend like a drunken sailor on shore leave into perpetuity and keep putting up those dominating 8-5 seasons they’re famous for. Those Texas Bowl trips are just a great reward for a job well done.
  21. Not the last school that is going to have massive issues on both the academic and athletic side of things. Gutting their external funding such as the grants they receive is going to torpedo their academics. That is not good, at all. It should be concerning to people outside of USC as well.
  22. Nassau has a rather large population of Central American immigrants. I lived in Westbury when I first moved to New York and found the diversity to be cool. Apparently the racist white folks there are trying to be like their brethren next door in Suffolk County.
  23. Hitler’s fear of being captured by the Soviets turned out to be greater than anything else. As drug addled as TFG is, he was child’s play in that department in comparison to Hitler.
  24. I feel that everything you think a WNBA player should do to continue to get better will see the opposite happen. Right now she is playing well. That team is hot garbage, but with how many teams make the postseason only two teams are really out of it right now in Dallas and Connecticut.
