  1. It has not only consequences in terms of deaths that are being caused by stopping USAID, but it also gives China a new way to make inroads in areas we should care far more about. I care about the nations in the South Pacific. China cares about them insomuch as they gain sway over their politics and allegiances. What we are doing right now is killing trust with those countries, three of which have a free association agreement with us. If I were them I would not trust the US to abide by what those agreements mean. I would not trust the US no matter what they say were I in their shoes.
  2. I use Regal here. I had AMC for years, but when I moved my choices for still having a movie pass were just down to Regal. The one I go to is maybe a 10 minute walk and I pay 26 a month to watch as many movies as I want to. The ones that cost are the 4DX, but since I usually go at night there are always empty seats. I went to see an action film in Mandarin in 4DX by just going right in. It was actually pretty cool and engaging. The soft drinks are disgusting though at Regal. AMC never, ever had anything that tastes as bad as the Diet Pepsi does from their fountain. I like that you can mix your own drinks with those machines. I just bring my own drink instead now to this Regal. I thought maybe the first time it was just not great that night, but no not the case. I'd buy a drink from them if they had something that didn't taste so horrid.
  3. Why not a mix of both?
  4. In two weeks.
  5. My post can be merged here if you want. I just didn't see this thread already started. It was a really fun movie.
  6. It was just, well, it made zero sense and for the exact reasons you mentioned. I know there was one poster here that supported it, but outside of that I believe it was roundly derided here and in the media for the most part. Beal played 53 games last year and is on pace to possibly get to 60 this year. Respectable game totals for him, but you don't trade for Beal knowing you already have two guys that can do what he does better. Since Ishbia takes advice from Isiah Thomas, I wonder how much his voice influenced that trade. Doesn't matter now I guess as the trade went about like you thought it might. I would guess Dan Gilbert is probably the person enjoying seeing Phoenix be mediocre the most.
  7. Zion put up 37 tonight, but man this guy just cannot rebound for his size. Luka, supposedly overweight and out of shape, puts up 30/15/8 and he doubles up Willliamson in rebounds. How can you be 6’6” 280 and you get four rebounds? You almost have to intentionally not try at that size to be that bad at rebounding. This guy’s entire six years have been an exercise in wasted time for New Orleans.
  8. Yeah what’s left probably did and others surely would have, especially with the internet screwing with the elderly’s ability to figure out what is actual news and what is propaganda. I would highly suspect the guys in their younger days would not have been so kind in seeing their country destroyed by a draft-dodging buffoon when they all either were drafted or volunteered to go fight for America.
  9. And Luka gets the assist on the triple from James. Fun bit of history to be part of.
  10. I’m reading a book about PT boats at Guadalcanal instead of watching. That’s a place where actual heroes died defending our country to their last full measure. So glad most of that generation are now gone so they don’t have to witness what we have become.
  11. So the East River then. I’m good with that.
  12. Once we come out of this years from now and get a government that has to wipe away the stain of these traitors it’s highly likely he gets re-buried at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.
  13. LeBron is one point away from 50k combined regular season and playoffs. Let it be a lob from Luka on the opening possession tonight.
  14. No. I am attempting to speed up the process and be out of the US by the end of next summer. I do not want to return no matter what transpires.
  15. I had no idea what to expect from this movie because it was the Monday night movie at Regal where they release a movie early, but don’t tell you which one ahead of time. This was good, REALLY GOOD. Jack Quaid is the star and he has a rare medical syndrome where he can’t feel pain. The plot had fun twists on a normal action/comedy. The bar scene near the beginning was great. One of the deaths made me cringe yet laugh out loud at the same time because of the brutality of it. I’d recommend watching this. It is quick and to the point with the story and is a cool movie to watch in under two hours. I’m definitely going to see this again.
  16. My best friend that's the Mavs fan actually mentioned this yesterday afternoon when we were talking. I told him I hope they don't borrow the part from the first movie and wind up with a cutout of Miriam Adelson or Dumont.
  17. He and Patrick Dumont need to get together at some point. Good Lord he looks like a Minecraft character with this square build.
  18. It’s a rarity to put two of the smartest guys in the league on one team, but then also have each of them be among the best 5 or so players in the league. This stuff doesn’t happen often. It was fun watching Jordan and Pippen, but more of that came from how they could annihilate backcourts on defense almost at will. Magic and Cap for me is still my favorite combo, but I am biased on that.
  19. I remember one poster here saying they were good when Beal joined them. Good times, good times. I don’t know how to say it other than anytime Devin Booker is supposed to be your leader, well, you’re screwed. Chris Paul carried him to the finals and I say that as someone that does not like CP3.
  20. It’s cool that you’re doing this! You’ll hit your number well ahead of time because the more you can do in one set will push you to keep doing more. I think you’ll at the very least double your goal for the year and probably go well past that. I can recall the summer after my first year of college (1999) coming back home and deciding I was going to Herschel Walker my way into doing a bunch of pushups to keep in shape. I was headed to a small school to play some foosball in the fall so I was doing sprints (Not exactly Xavier Worthy here, but I was running as fast as a middling athlete could go) as well in the blazing Texas heat. Anyhow I wound up doing between 1500-2k a day that summer. I would do them on commercial breaks and tried to keep the sets to 50 reps. I think the best memory out of the whole thing was being up late watching reruns of Are You Being Served? Look forward to seeing the updates throughout the year and your progress. Good on you for putting forth the effort on this!
  21. Just remind yourself that once they go down far enough and the outcry is at a fever pitch you’ll get the “Trump alone can fix it” line. As you well know, fascists out front shoulda told ya.
  22. I met him once briefly at his bar in Stamford in his hometown. I was disappointed to not see him wearing the disguise.
  23. I do not readily keep up with UT basketball that often, but Pat Kelsey seems like a guy who is going to win a bunch of tournament games in the next several years at Louisville. I think he could handle coaching in Austin. Louisville is just on year one though so I am sure he has no desire to pick up and leave after bringing them back from the dead to near the top of the ACC again.
  24. I am going to explain Elmo’s behavior a little bit. Since this idiot shares a spectrum with me there are certain behaviors I notice that are common. Note, however, that his narcissism takes what a want to explain to an 11. There is a behavior called masking. It’s fairly common among people on the spectrum. I will explain myself first and my experiences. I have found that looking back on my life that I always attempted to just fit into a group and mask the behaviors I had that were different. In my life I have hung out with people and in places that others would not go to for whatever reason. I can fit into just about any group of people. In another life I might’ve enjoyed working for the government because of this. Natural skills with people do not come easily to me, BUT what I can do is figure out how to mimic the way a group acts and it allows me to be part of said group. It’s mentally exhausting, but I have the routine of how to fit in down. It’s easier than trying to explain to everyone the differences I have and I am mostly okay with that. Elmo masks himself as well, BUT, and this is a big detour from normal autistic behavior, he will fit into a group and pour his focus into it and want to then be the focus of the group. This is where the narcissism comes in. Is there childhood trauma with his dad? Yes. Is there childhood trauma from being made fun of? Yes. Did he take these slights, put them in his back pocket and remember them so he could one day get back at all his imagined enemies? Yes. He’s doing that now while getting the adulation of millions of people here in the US and now in other countries. The narcissism puts all of his impulsive and selfish behavior way over the top. Autism can manifest itself in giving you a really narrow focus. My narrow focus used to lead me into making some real bad decisions. It took learning who I was and understanding that being different is okay. That was not an easy road, but the journey has been rewarding. Elmo skipped that day of school and really never has gotten in touch with who he is so we get this monster. He takes being different as a slight and he is still stuck in his mental development in his teenage years. He could be using his influence to narrowly focus on bettering mankind. Instead he chose money, attention and hate instead. For me I can see and understand his behaviors clear as day. I have no empathy for him because he chose to follow the hate. He’ll never find any real happiness. His internal emotional state is a never-ending void. That is a dark place to be at and it’s not good for the rest of us.
  25. If I lived and worked in an area where designated drivers were a common part of my daily experience I would gladly give them free cokes and whatnot. When I was on Long Island I worked at an Italian restaurant. I am not sure I ever served one adult that did not drink alcohol in a group setting. Those folks drank like it was a job.
