ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks in the back after the fleeing man pointed a stun gun in his direction will be charged with felony murder and 10 other charges, a prosecutor said Wednesday.
Garrett Rolfe kicked Brooks while he lay on the ground and the officer with him, Devin Brosnan, stood on Brooks' shoulder as he struggled for life after a confrontation Friday night, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard said at a news conference.
Rolfe had already been fired after he fatally shot Brooks, 27, on Friday night. Brosnan, who will be charged with aggravated assault and other crimes, had been placed on administrative leave.
Brooks’ widow, Tomika Miller, attended the news conference along with her lawyers, Justin Miller and L. Chris Stewart.
Looks like that officer in Atlanta just got charged with felony murder.

Consider his social construct, both outdated and racist, to now be canceled.

He literally said nothing in that statement, once someone tells him his opinion he'll tweet something about it.
Right. It is just there is an expectation that he immediately goes flying off the handles on most everything. I agree someone will tell him what his opinion is and he’ll go on a twitter rampage blaming everyone ranging from protestors to Mexicans (always gotta work them in) for what has happened today.

Oh don’t worry. Wait until he gets in front of those supporters on Saturday and tells them the complete opposite. Hell wait until he goes on a late night twitter rant this week saying the opposite. He cannot help but say something stupid and ignorant on this and it’ll be sooner rather than later.

I don't disagree with your take, and appreciate your acknowledgement of the role that the politically dominant class has had to play in this. Honestly, my response and thoughts on this are the same as my thoughts on the chaos that we're seeing and we're going to see with respect to policing, and the rioting we saw.
The best way to avoid riots and violence (the complete breakdown of the Rule of Law) is to first.....avoid undermining and voiding the Rule of Law. And that's exactly what allowing the police to operate with complete impunity, to break the law in both letter and spirit in your face, then laugh at you and say "fuck you, what are you gonna do about it?" has led to. Society (through its armed agents) shouldn't breach the social contract....because then we lose the benefits of the social contract.
Our political environment is much the same way. It would be FANTASTIC if the political conversation these days actually could focus on differing takes on monetary policy, foreign involvement, etc. But you and I both know that the dominant political class -- the GOP -- is not having those conversations, because that movement is no longer about policy at all. It's about appeals to baser instincts (ALL the dog whistles have now been blown), and abandonment of any consistent policy in favor of what is functionally a cult. Thinkers like George Will are persona non grata. So, again, when you abandon core principles for....well, whatever the hell GOP is and stands for now....you end up with chaos. There's actually a good piece in the NYT for this weekend that Trumpism has done more to shove a large swath of the country to the left than any political development in decades.
Extremes lead to extremes. So, like, avoid them. Don't be a deranged, despotic king, and you won't end up facing a violent revolution. This is one of the big reasons some of us keep cautioning against the metaphorical "despotic king" route.
I was finishing up a paper last night for a psychology class and part of it was about George Kelly. I am not here to argue the merits of his Social Construct Theory, but part of it resonated to me with what we are seeing from the cult supporters. The construct they have built for themselves with which they have lived their life around is now not only being stamped out, but they are being left behind and told they are flat out wrong in how they view things. They feel threatened to see their own personal construct and view of life come under assault. I do not feel bad for them, but reading his theory makes me better understand why Dotard’s supporters are going down with the ship instead of adjusting their own construct to a world that is changing by the minute in a positive way for millions of people who deserve it. It is easier to cling to the comfort of what you know instead of progressing forward and re-thinking long held wrong-headed views that are now becoming extinct.

This was today in DC. We started the protest at the White House and after an hour or so left for Dotard’s hotel where we sat in the street in front of it. After that we marched up to Meridian Hill Park and we had bicyclists block streets off along the way. We had to go around some military personnel and the young black soldiers on duty were giving everyone walking by their Humvee fist bumps of support. Cars honked in support while they waited. It was peaceful, but powerful today and the young black men and women who spoke were so passionate and informed about the issues here in DC and nationwide.

I was talking with a friend I have known for 20+ years who works in law down in New Orleans. She was sharing a story with me yesterday about someone she defended that was accused of theft. He saw police officers running towards him so he ran from them. When they caught up to him and arrested him it was on the grounds of a school so he was charged not only with theft, but with trespassing on school property. The arresting officer asked him why he ran and he said "because you started running towards me". He had nothing on him and the kicker is the 911 call said there were TWO young black men who committed the theft. When she presented the 911 call to the DA they would not drop the charges even in the face of this not being the two people they were looking for.
This young man, in his early 20's, had to sit in jail for two months awaiting his day in court because he could not afford bail either. All charges were dropped once evidence was presented in court from the 911 call. She talked about something else that I thought was important. Imagine if that young man had kids and he is away for two months and isn't able to take care of them. The state could've taken them and then he winds up in the court system trying to get them back and all because of a DA that wouldn't drop the charges even when shown the evidence that says they should be. This is the experience that black men in this country have when it comes to the law. They are not treated equally and continuing to pretend there is not a problem is not a viable excuse anymore. I am so glad my friend fights the good fight along with her husband down there. She said it does sadden her still that she will have to sit down with her two young sons at some point and explain to them what they should do when confronted by a police officer.

It's worse live. He seems to suggest what Lincoln did may not have been good. Jesus.
Listening to that was just another incredible moment where he says something that would have been a moment that any other president would have been immediately called out on and it would have been news for weeks. He has done and said so much heinous and racist shit that this won't be in the news cycle for a full 24 hours.

Some good news if you like a delicious, contemporary, deconstructed twist on the cheeseburger with some light misuse of position on the side.
Well no shit you didn’t ask for it Dotard. You just took it and assumed the money was rightfully yours.

That one in Columbus Circle is definitely getting moved now. I think the city will act to remove it before protestors get a chance to do so. Remove all traces of him and his disgraceful name from that area and follow Mayor Bowser's example down here and name that circle after the BLM movement.

Lafayette Square will be open again today as Ft. Dotard has its fencing removed. Looks like that's where I will be protesting at later on.
Edit: Apparently the Secret Service opened it up again right after midnight and let protesters back in.

I am not certain the best place to put this, but protesting down here in DC this week has been such a tremendously good experience. Seeing people protest both Dotard and police brutality right here in front of the White House is a powerful experience. I can freely admit I have enjoyed white privilege over the years and most of it was when I didn't even realize I had it. I think all of the white people who use this board have at one time or another not even paid any attention to our privilege. I will never spend a single day of my life fearing being shot at because of my skin color. I will never know that kind of fear and that it is solely because I was born white and someone who wasn't will is a sad indictment on our country. That we have a racist moron who cares not one iota about any of the black people out there protesting says a lot about the state of things.
Marching today from the White House to the Lincoln Memorial was an experience I will not forget. You could feel the hurt inside of the people who spoke at the base of that monument. You could feel the anger during our march for how black people are treated like second class citizens. One of the women speaking today, who should go into politics one day because she has a powerful and eloquent voice, told all of the white people there to "Use your privilege to do something good that will help others who can't speak for themselves." When you hear something like that I think it makes you want to keep on pushing and keep helping folks out who no longer have a voice to be heard like Eric Garner or Breonna Taylor or George Floyd. I have seen the best in the human spirit here and it is very refreshing. I'll have kids one day and they'll be mixed and I'll be able to tell them that my lily white ass did not just sit on the sidelines and cheer on my fellow citizens in their fight for equality. I got out and participated and will keep doing so in whatever way I possibly can.

Buying ad time to appease the the fragile ego of a narcissist who spends his days watching cable news and talking shit on Twitter. I want the simulation where Dotard shovels shit for a living in Louisiana and never gets a better job than that.

I want to see the Columbus statue taken down here. I would hope that it is gone by the end of the year at the latest.

Great. Pack them in there. Two to a seat. Get as many of these idiots together as possible in the same place. Hold two rallies a day. Go all out Dotard to get as many of your cult members in the same place and as close together as humanly possible. I would ask that masks also be banned from these rallies.
