  1. I wouldn’t want that mess, but I’m not a football coach. I enjoy having a normal life. You take that job then you better be ready to deal with craziness every single day.
  2. I’d also posit that if he stays long-term that the road to a playoff berth is significantly easier in the BIG XII. Tech will be good every year and we’re good for one school having a weak schedule and winning more than they should(BYU this year and aggy in the SEC are examples of this). ASU should never be below 2nd or 3rd so long as there is competent play at QB. This is like being in the WCC in basketball all those years where it was just Gonzaga or St. Mary’s winning the conference. The rest of the schools were just kinda there for the most part. The Big XII, in football at least, is close to that. It’d be great if Cougar High or TCU could consistently get it together. It’s still a basketball conference first and that’s okay. I guess for now I’m good with it being Tech, ASU and some jags on the football side of things until other schools take the sport seriously.
  3. This part is something I am not certain really matters anymore and I’m not really saying this in regards to Dillingham. There is a sea change with NIL and more schools can compete right now if they spend money or at least spend it wisely. Do I think he has gotten what his agent asked the administration for? Sure. He probably got more than he asked for when it comes to assistant pay and facilities being modernized. It’s all a process though and were I him right now I’d just be surveying the landscape and taking bits and pieces from how similar schools with very little in the way of football success are conducting themselves. I’d guess he’s already doing that. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but yes being in Phoenix is a big help. The school having a reputation of being fun as far as the student experience helps. I’m content to just watch him do his thing. He keeps winning? Awesome. He doesn’t? That’s okay too. At least he’ll have tried if he stays long-term and makes ASU into a playoff team annually, especially as the bracket gets bigger and easier to make. And that players name? You guessed it. Frank Stallone
  4. My best retort to folks thinking a mid-term election matters in a fascist form of government would be to go and look at history and use it as a guide. A single election isn’t ending this. You have e to fight and claw your way through fascism until the eventual collapsing upon itself happens. That’s when you need to be prepared to step in and retake the government and start anew with a democracy. There is no magic cure here. You just resist and do your small part to reverse things. Once enough folks are doing that actively, meaning not just in opposing it mentally, then you can reclaim sanity and get out of this. Until then you just get up each day and do your best.
  5. I think the last number I read was a little under 6 million. It seems he’s good with that along with better assistant pay and facilities upgrades. I guess that’s alright and his family live in his neighborhood. If that is what brings him happiness good on Dillingham. I obviously would like him to stick around and make ASU into a top 15 team each year. That seems doable if there is money to be spent on, oh I don’t know, GOOD OFFENSIVE LINEMEN. Not sure how Raleek Brown did as well as he did this past season with that line in front of him.
  6. Just pay the man. He cares about the school and spending on the football program could get the school closer to being financially solvent with the athletic program. Breaking even overall would be an accomplishment and keeping Dillingham should be the top priority for the administration on the athletic side of things.
  7. The best part of getting older is you’re still here experiencing life. I have a friend who is a comedian that made a joke about that once during a show that was basically “I’m 20 years older than you, but if I died today I got to experience so much more life than you.” It was a lot more to it than that, but basically getting older is cool. It sucks that Rob and his wife had their lives cut short, but what a 78 years he had on this planet. He impacted millions of people in a good way and he left behind a fantastic legacy of who he was as a person, not to even mention what he accomplished in his professional life.
  8. Well yeah I learned that from The Waterboy!
  9. The conference this year was Tech and 15 randos. No one else in the conference did anything that mattered, including ASU. The runner-up in the conference had two shots at Tech this year. They totaled 14 points in 8 quarters. They had a grand total of 455 yards IN EIGHT QUARTERS of play. I will never not find this funny when it comes to BYU supposedly being good at football now. They are not and will not be. However, Tech can’t help any of that. Their money guys threw obscene amounts of it at the team and it worked out. Money won’t win it every year, especially when the head coach is a middling buffoon that would have been fired and looking for a job right now if not for getting that cash infusion. McGuire is who he is and he’ll hold Tech back until Tech realizes it needs an elite head coach to go along with the players. Tech’s defense should be good enough to keep them in the game no matter who they play in the playoffs. Offensively I am not convinced because they don’t really have an extra gear there. Defensively though I like them and @Iceman deserves something good from the football program after having to watch those clowns toss Leach out in favor of the James Family. I’ll also pull for Tech because one of my best friends had a daughter who played soccer for Tech and was really good before she graduated and went overseas to play professionally. I also always enjoyed the teams coached by the Pirate so Guns Up! Wreck ‘em Tech! Bring some tortillas to toss in the playoffs.
  10. It was a beautiful movie start to finish. I loved it. The friendship he forges with the retired actor was pretty emotional to watch. Japanese culture is different, but in a good way and this is part of what makes it good.
  11. Tee that man’s face up and hit it with a frying pan repeatedly. Just the worst human beings.
  12. Kansei didn’t win the Lou Groza award, but he’s a first team All-American which seems to be a nicer accomplishment. He’s the first one to make the first team in the history of Hawai’i football. Really happy for the young fella.
  13. I mean what does it even mean to salute the vets by giving them this match-up? Is this some form of art imitates life college football-style?
  14. I can’t remember what I was doing 30 minutes ago, but I see that 57 Oilers jersey and immediately can recall Lamar Lathan. The human mind is pretty humorous.
  15. My high school used that as their motto back in the 80’s. “We may be small, but we’re slow.” Got them five straight district titles.
  16. Who wants to be the person who tries to play the course wearing a shirt with a picture of Obama on it?
  17. Before there was Shohei Ohtani there was TFG. He was so good at baseball that people begged him to give up the sport because he was dominating it at a level that wasn’t fair.
  18. If I came into that level of money the only thing I’d do is build a moderately sized house in a South Pacific country and give the rest away to people in that country who need it.
  19. Should’ve went. Could’ve gone as the pedo bear for that game.
  20. Because teenagers don’t care about being annoying.
  21. I’m glad SOC is ruling the roost like this. I hope they go on a title streak like the basketball team did 20 years ago. DISD got laughed at for so long about no commitment to football that it’s pretty cool that SOC was the one to bust down the door and stay relevant.
  22. Well there you go. That’s a good reason. The Horns have had some phenomenal backs over that span. Ricky is still my favorite.
  23. I shouldn’t laugh, but that’s hilariously funny. Can’t wait to see Mickey and Minnie’s Bonnie and Clyde remake.
  24. I mean how is this possible? This is a school that had Bettis, Lee Benton (great college back), Ricky Watters and a whole host of other talented backs over the years. It doesn’t seem possible.
  25. Not as upset as the employees you pay like day laborers.
