  1. The one thing that the Jets do excel at is their secondary. The rest of it not so much. Putting a rookie against Gardner is not a good time for Stroud.
  2. The weather here today is a complete mess. I’ve been in that stadium before and when the wind picks up just forget about hoping for anything resembling football.
  3. Lakers: 1 NBA Cup Rest of the league: 0 Monumental moment for a franchise that has had so very little to celebrate over its history. Might want to head over to Figueroa tomorrow for the parade celebrating this title!
  4. Two hours to go before the crowning achievement of Lebron’s career takes place. I know all of you are just as excited as I am to skip/ignore/forget about this before you go to sleep as I am!
  5. I knew I recognized the voice, but Donovan Lewis from THE Ticket is REALLY GOOD at broadcasting football games. He has made watching this game a lot of fun. Had no idea he did this. I’ve been missing out not watching their games.
  6. It was like a fire drill. Completely wasted an opportunity there to get what should have been at least a field goal attempt.
  7. Real dumpster fire there by Desoto to end the 1st half. The play calling after the pass that got the drive going was just comedy.
  8. This game is pretty entertaining. 21-20 now Desoto. One more shot to score before the half for the Eagles. Carroll has it to begin the 2nd half.
  9. Get what you can while you can do it. What a position to be in as an athlete to collect the pay he will be getting. I’m happy for him and anyone else that gets paid like this.
  10. He could have, but since you are the preeminent message board decider of what a player is worth I am just not going to argue with you. It’s pointless to engage further with someone who ties WAR to what a team wants to pay. A team is free to pay whatever they want to whomever they want for however many years they want. Not worth 70 million because he deferred payments. Honest to goodness that is comedy gold level stuff.
  11. The crush of media from Japan will probably make the Ichiro following of Japanese media look small in comparison. Companies will throw money at him here and back home. It’s up to him to decide how much he wants and if the time spent doing it is worth it to him personally. 70 million sounds awesome to me, but I am not and never will be in a position to make 9 figures a year like Ohtani can.
  12. So are we talking with interest deferrals where he will be getting supersized Bobby Bonilla payments until he’s in his 60’s?
  13. He is absolutely worth more than that once he starts pitching again in 2025. He is pretty much worth whatever the market says he is worth though and this year it has this as his price. 70 million is nice, but he could’ve gotten more if he really wanted to dig in his heels for a bigger payday. I want to see guys get paid whatever they can take away from an owner. The more for them the merrier.
  14. Look anything past May for him is good on the meaningful games side. The Angels were like the Mets of the West Coast. They are there, but does anyone really care?
  15. Good for Ohtani! This is a landmark contract in North American pro sports, especially for a foreign born athlete. Now he gets to finally play in meaningful games and gets paid like he should. I think he is worth far more as a player, but with the endorsements he’ll be racking up here as well as back home he is easily going to be pulling down well over 100m a year. It’s hard not to like him as a player and he seems like a pretty cool person when he’s not playing ball.
  16. That would be one of the most awesome things the NBA has ever done. I would love to have seen this back in the day with Ron Garretson and Bennett Salvatore.
  17. Unless the trade is an obvious salary dump where one team is getting a Hall of Famer it seems like it is best to wait a few years to see the totality of what happens. Gobert going to Minnesota had the added complications of him attempting to fit with KAT and a still developing Anthony Edwards. Now Edwards has the confidence coming off the World Cup and Minnesota has found a way to make the pieces fit so far this season. In general I think it’s good that they are winning as it gives Edwards more time nationally to show how talented he is.
  18. I might possibly go to listen to him next Friday over in Newark. He’ll probably be forced to walk on stage as I am sure he doesn’t want to be seen in a wheelchair.
  19. I have no idea why HCU wanted to be back in D1 instead of NAIA. They had great teams at that level. I remember one with Charles Fordjour from around 2000. I had a friend who played for the women’s team at that same time as well. They will never be good in D1. Apparently he was up in Missoula last night. Montana might want to keep him after his excitement during their game.
  20. No they would never have gotten one because the SWAC thinks of themselves as the Ivy League of the HBCU’s and would rather have a conference title game and then a bid to that Celebration Bowl debacle every year. It’s so silly and it’s one of the biggest reasons HBCU’s are always behind other schools athletically.
  21. It has been some years since I drove through there. A friend did all the plumbing on their new gym, but that has been a good long while ago. It was before he had his own plumbing business in Lampasas so that was at least 13 years ago that he did that. It would have been cool to see that park as a kid because I loved dinosaurs. We just almost never traveled anywhere because my dad did not enjoy getting in the truck and driving us any place. I don’t blame him because it was his work truck and was a single cab 79 GMC Sierra.
  22. The taste of it made me sick right off the bat every single time. Then again everything except for maybe three things I ever drank made me sick. I’ll thankfully never find out about the taste ever again. Still serve the mess out of some whiskey to folks at work though so there’s plenty of folks who can handle it!
  23. You’ll be getting a visit from Big Dan Campbell shortly to straighten you out about his hometown. Don’t be surprised if he brings some dinosaur bones from the house to hit you over the head with.
