  1. A short search showed he is a Democrat who once campaigned for John Kerry and does not like maga, at all. His upbringing apparently made him really tolerant of all religions, but he is a Christian. I think the paycheck must be pretty good. He is married with three daughters I believe so you gotta feed them and keep the lights on. Maga co-opting their strange version of Christianity bugs me because we have an actual Christian right now who is the president.
  2. He was in it with a featured role. He and the guy playing the devil are in another movie together as well. I have no idea if he’s gone full maga or not. Might just be some good paychecks for him in doing these movies.
  3. This means that Stanton can just go hangout on the IL all year. Do your best Chris Davis impersonation and go get paid to not play. The Yanks still have so many other issues to fix, but this was an absolutely huge net positive. He has a built-in fanbase in The Bronx and he will hit at least 45 homers this year. I remember being at the game where he hit his first homer at Yankee Stadium back in 2018. The crack of the bat just sounds different from guys like him. The only other player I have watched out there that had the ball come so cleanly and ferociously off his bat was Yordan Alvarez. You know the sound of the connection of bat and ball with guys like that when you hear it. Soto is going to destroy some baseballs to the short porch.
  4. I saw it last week and it seemed to be pretty straightforward about the movie having a Christian theme. I left as soon as it ended though so I missed the buy more tickets cash grab/grift attempt. The guy playing the devil was actually really good in his role. Tying it to the Book of Job was, umm, interesting I guess? Just go do an actual movie about Job’s story. That would have been better. Also every time I see Sean Astin in a movie or tv show I see a hobbit holding a football.
  5. The only thing I find to be ridiculous is that Paul and that ref ever share a court together. Paul is, to be kind, not someone I enjoy watching, but that ref should never be assigned to his games. They clearly have issues with each other that go well beyond basketball.
  6. I know you know the story, but man McDaniel’s story from being let go for being an alcoholic to where he is today as a coach that is sober is such an impressive personal story for him to have. Sober McDaniel seems like quite the amazing person. I probably will watch about two hours worth of the NFL by the time the season is over (Stopped watching college and pro football for the most part many years ago), but it would be cool if this guy wins a Super Bowl.
  7. Well apparently he didn’t get every call because they got swept right out the building and you still aren’t showing your work here. Making vague references to now “5-7 minutes of ref ball” instead of the whole game is showing you don’t have anything. This is I guess a humorous version of a conspiracy unlike the 45 fans and their not fun conspiracy. I will never understand how people become conspiracy theorists over the absolute silliest things that do not matter in the slightest. All I can gather from this is it seems the mind always wants to just find blame for something besides their group or team losing so as to make themselves feel better.
  8. Gave up next to nothing of importance for one of the best 3 or 4 players in baseball. Gotta spend the money to keep him now.
  9. And again I will ask where was the NBA at for the West Finals last year? Why didn’t Adam Silver make sure the Lakers made the finals? If you are going to partake in conspiratorial thinking that is usually only available on that website for brain damaged people called abovetopsecret.com then show your work completely.
  10. If there's one thing as certain as the sun coming up in the morning, it's Laker fan swearing they get no more breaks from the refs than anyone else. I think your certainty on this is misplaced. If you are saying the Lakers get all the breaks then teams only beat them when the league office lets them or the league wants another team to win. It’s absolutely nonsensical thinking. It just sounds like a fan looking into something that isn’t there. Kinda like conspiracy theorists and their myriad of government coverups. If anyone wants to complain that the Suns got the shaft how about pointing the angst at Durant having to be overworked because the 3rd member of his trio has played in a grand total of THREE out of their 21 games so far. Where is that fan at who talked about Beal being back on here only for him to hit the shelf again before a week passed? If the Suns want to do better then don’t trade for a broken down guy on the Gilbert Arenas or John Wall plan.
  11. Sounds like you're a Laker fan Well, yeah! I still have never bought referee or league conspiracies to help the Lakers or any other team. If there was a ref conspiracy help LA win games I guess the league didn’t get the memo for the West Finals last year. It’s like listening to people think the Ewing lottery was rigged for the Knicks. It’s counterproductive for the league to prop up teams, especially now.
  12. The Lakers play a physical style where they slow the game down and it gets them more calls more often than not. Nothing out of the ordinary about that. If the Lakers always get the calls then I want an explanation for most of the decade before 2020 when they were a bottom feeder. We are well past the point in the popularity of the NBA to where the Lakers do not have to be good in order for the league to rake in money. When they go back to being a lottery-bound team once LeBron retires I am pretty sure the league and the officials won’t be trying to help them be good again.
  13. I would also think random international tourists that want a chance to see an NBA game, especially if they have kids that are fans of any of the players there. As I am sure you are well aware, that happens often here with higher profile teams playing the Knicks or Nets. Plenty of people on vacation from around the world with money to burn will pay to see these games in Vegas.
  14. I am currently reading Eagle Against the Sun. I am sure many of you a bit older than me probably read this one a long time ago. Very well written and interesting. It’s more of a fast-moving summary of the Pacific War, but I like it.
  15. So much anger. I feel bad for you and anyone else that conveniently forgets he harassed the woman for a lengthy period after she said it was done. This is exactly the kind of awful human being that is not only not used to being told no, but also has massive anger issues. LeBron told him to chill with the B word, but he decided to take the bully tactic of getting attention. If he’s such a ruthless fighter I’m sure we’d hear stories of him hunting LeBron when they are not in an NBA arena. We don’t because he’s a bully and nothing more. He’s Draymond Green in coaching attire. If you believe this is his first rodeo with trying to bully a woman who told him to kick rocks, well, that’s on you for having your head in the sand. Men like this are absolutely sexual predators who go from woman to woman looking for someone that is vulnerable and easy prey for them.
  16. Udoka is not a fighter. Unless it involves sexually assaulting women. He is nothing more than an attention-seeking bully. Bullies always feel the need to mouth off. Udoka is nothing more than that. This bully gets to hide behind being a coach which keeps normal human beings like LeBron and every other NBA player from punting him straight into the sun. They are grown men who value their jobs and taking care of their families, unlike that gutless clown. Udoka is a cowardly middle aged man with anger issues. He should be sitting either in jail or a psych ward right now. He should not be on an NBA sideline.
  17. Aww man that’s awesome! I have mentioned before that one of my best friends is a graduate of SOC. His sons all played for DISD schools (Samuell, Pinkston and the last one at Carter where he was all-state.) He played for the Golden Bears in the late 80’s on the hardwood. If I wasn’t a 25+ year supporter of TGJM I’d wear that.
  18. This is rich coming from Udoka. I am no LeBron defender, but a clown fraud of a coach, one who is a sexual predator going back to his Spurs days no less, calling anyone that is high comedy. Of course LeBron isn’t going to attack a coach. His name isn’t Draymond Green. If he wanted to he could beat him to a pulp, but he’s a grown-up and is there to play, not physically destroy a coach who absolutely deserves a beatdown. What an absolute joke of a human being to even try to play the macho tough guy when the face of the league tells you using that word isn’t cool.
  19. She’s pretty awesome. I believe her name is Yori Saneyoshi. She has two bodyguards and the only time I have ever seen her show emotion was Kobe’s last game. I think it’s great how she is such a die-hard fan yet never tries to draw any attention to herself. What a cool deal to get to see all those world class basketball players for decades now from the best seat in the house.
  20. I went to church for years down off the East end of Illinois starting in 1999. Oak Cliff and Sunny South Dallas were always good to me. Made so many good lifelong friends in both areas. One of my friends from college that played for Madison now has his “Junior” getting ready to be in high school soon in Newton as the mom is from there. If he is anything like his father he is going to be hell on wheels on both sides of the ball for the Eagles.
  21. That defense and special teams. Well that and the teams they play are coached by Bret Bielema and Bielema clones.
  22. Michigan’s offense is hot garbage, but that’s largely because Iowa probably has the best defense in college football. If they had even a semi-functional offense and a QB that could at least start for a 5A high school in Texas they would be even right now. The Hawkeye defensive players are just incredible to watch because they know going into each game they have to play almost perfect to win against every team because of their offense.
  23. Heard about this place for awhile. Need to check it out. I've seen some of the pictures and definitely looks like a heart attack waiting to happen I first went there 15 years ago or so. The fries are cooked in bacon grease and I got a triple with just cheese (no veggies) and it took an hour to finish the whole thing. It’s a literal hole-in-the-wall place, but they do breakfast and lunch if I remember right.
  24. Good. Hope the Golden Bears get that 3-peat! Best hamburger in Dallas is right down the street at Wingfield’s if it is still around.
  25. Lee Boy has Allen on the right track. They had their opportunities to get control of that game in the 3rd quarter, but they don’t have the athletes or QB to do it. North Crowley had a gear that Allen just does not have yet. I am biased because Coach Wig is from Lampasas, but I told a friend when he took the job that by his 3rd year they’d be really good again. Last year was a really rough first year for him personally because he lost his father during the season. His dad was his best friend and he coached him. They talked every single day of his life, even when he was away at Angelo State playing. His dad was such a good man and he took the loss really hard. Former Horn Curtis Thrift was a HS teammate of his and he spoke at the funeral. I hope he is back for another year because he has won at every single level as a head coach going back to Bosqueville, Comfort, Mexia and Midlothian Heritage. I saw his Bosqueville team years ago. Hard to believe how far he has come the last 25 years.
