  1. Carter gets an interception on a desperation heave on the final play to win 41-35. The Cowboys have Stephenville next.
  2. Carter and Sulphur Springs have a good game going on. It’s on YouTube. 27-21 Carter at the half.
  3. I’m watching the Lampasas game with Uvalde. NFHS needs to let a crew do these games that actually follow whichever team is listed as home. This guy has to be doing his first solo broadcast and clearly did not prepare. He is nervous as I don’t know what.
  4. I understand that. My only bias is having watched Davenport. Their senior QB throws for 300 a game and their top two WR’s are both seniors. The connection their QB has with those two is ridiculous. They run the ball well enough with their sophomore back to be able to air it out like that. The issue Davenport will have is whether their defense can stay fresh enough. If that happens they have an outside shot to play to the last week in Arlington. Davenport scores points in bunches and when they’re rolling it’s hard to stop them. Burnet gave a good blueprint of how to play them, but the Bulldogs did darn near everything right that night to win.
  5. I am going to pick Davenport to make it out of the 4A Region IV D1 bracket. That means playing Boerne. They’ll win that game as they have the better offense and a fast, but undersized defensive front.
  6. Well your friend nailed it. I told a friend back in Oklahoma to go see it right after I left the showing last night.
  7. Did GRHorn fly in from Russia for this debacle?
  8. Good for Nurkic. I remember reading last season about Jokic not wanting to lose Nurkic as a teammate and that he felt bad about getting his starting position. I believe he even said he was willing to stay on the bench if they would keep him. Good for Nurkic in finding a nice home in Phoenix.
  9. Are you telling me the Sixers are better off without Harden and Doc? Why it is almost as if letting Maxey be your guy setting the table for everyone seems like a good idea. He and Nurse are going to work well together. Barring major injuries I think they win the east.
  10. This was good, REALLY good. It’s going straight into the holiday movie rotation. Giamatti was nomination and winner worthy for his performance. Such a wonderful movie to watch. Highly recommend seeing this. Not enough good things to say about this. Dominic Sessa as Angus was fantastic as well. This movie had my attention from start to finish.
  11. The name seemed fun so I looked him up. Member of the Italian national team and his mother was a former hurdler on the Italian Olympic team. His mom’s partner was a member of the Italian women’s national team as well.
  12. Admiral Lockwood had his guys in the submarines doing tremendous amounts of damage. So much so that eventually they ran out of stuff to sink for the most part. What worked so well for our navy was the organization of it. Everyone had a role and it did not matter what it was the sailors just did it. The submarine commanders knew their work went mostly unnoticed by the press, but they did their job as effectively as any allied group in the war and then some.
  13. I've been enthralled by battleships since i was a kid. Lee at Guadacanal is one of my favorite accounts of the pacific theater. Being an Olympian in rifle shooting, then going on to run a battleship division like a calvaryman charging on horseback with pistols blazing.... fucking awesome What he and the other ships and sailors did in the battle on that night was not just momentous in showing the power of radar, it also showed something to the commanders in charge of the IJN. The propaganda they were constantly fed was that Americans lived a decadent lifestyle and that when push came to shove they would not fight. The Japanese were shocked at the ferocity displayed by the American ships in the all out hell and chaos that transpired. They did not believe the Americans would fight as hard and as disciplined as they did. Guadalcanal, especially Admiral Lee’s role in it, was just brutal for both sides. The death and destruction visited upon each navy was harsh, but the Americans stood up to the Japanese, who to that point were masters of night attacks. They trained for it and we did not, but Lee had radar and his steadying confidence in his ability to position his ships right where he needed to be. I honestly cannot imagine being in the middle of that brawl between ships. Without Lee taking his stand we lose a whole bunch more of the marines who were watching the battle from the shore while having no idea who was doing what. The marines kept asking when the navy was going to show up and boy did they ever right when they were needed. The Tokyo Express was halted and the Japanese were unofficially in evacuation mode not long thereafter.
  14. The Persian Version. This is my favorite movie I have watched since I saw Jojo Rabbit (My all time favorite movie) on opening night (And about 8 more times taking various friends to see it) and I would say this is a must see movie. Hard to really quantify how good this was to watch. We need more movies like this to be made. I will gladly watch this again.
  15. I have not followed many of the elections going on tonight, but Daniel Cameron, and I don’t say this lightly, is an absolutely horrific human being who should never be allowed to run for any public office ever again. I hope the rest of his life is spent cleaning bathrooms overnight at a Waffle House while living in a shanty next to a garbage dumpster.
  16. Well looking at who made the list you were asking people that fought the last war who was going to be the guys you could count on to win an entirely new and vicious type of war. No one could adequately say how it would be fought. We have the hindsight of looking back and saying how could they not see the brilliance of these two men when making that list. War has a way of showing who is the best at their job and often it is not the ones with the best resume going in.
  17. I try not to rank these admirals and other commanders in any order outside of having Admiral Nimitz at the top of the depth chart with Admiral Spruance the top commander that was active out on the high seas. If he was not in charge at Midway we might’ve been fresh out of carriers at the end of that battle. The rest all played a role as part of a larger machine and the ones that rose up and performed the best all should get an equal share of the praise for beating Japan. Spruance and Admiral Lee are the two I believe I would’ve enjoyed a conversation with the most outside of Nimitz of course. Spruance had a mind that never stopped organizing and planning, even in retirement. He was born at the right time, in the right place and was in command at precisely the right time in history to do what he did and the history of the war accurately shows that.
  18. And Adebayo got a triple double tonight. A double double? Sure that’s fine. A triple double when he’s averaging about 2.5 assists per game? That’s just a lack of solid effort defensively.
  19. Looks like AD is perhaps injured. He came back in the game, but his presence back on the court allowed Miami to go on a run because he is moving as gracefully as Udonis Haslem out there right now. I was hoping to get 10 games out of him before he hit the shelf and went back to modeling designer fashions on the bench during games, but it appears not to be.
  20. I’m really proud of Jaylen Brown. He completed two dribbles IN A ROW with his left hand without turning the basketball over. Most impressive part of that entire sequence.
  21. Still baffling how Williams got 13 million plus for four years knowing that he has zero ability to score consistently. You kinda need to be able to do that in a league where everyone can score. Having him on the court makes it an auto 5 on 4. I will be shocked if he is in the NBA once he hits 30 years old.
  22. Memphis finally got themselves a win. I did not realize they were 0-6 coming into tonight. I think they need Tyus Jones back more than their star player.
  23. Are they, per his poetic wishes, burying him upside down for his critics?
  24. I think their plan is just play Durant until the wheels fall off. With Isiah Thomas advising the owner behind the scenes what could go wrong? He carried a collection of guys to a win today though with 41. It was against some guys wearing Detroit jerseys. A real collection of memorable guys there in The Motor City.
