  1. If there is money to be made they’ll do it. The players watch things in highlight-sized bites anyhow now. The on-campus stuff I am going to say doesn’t move the needle as much as it may once have. The goal for the best of the best is just finding a team that can get them to their ultimate goal of the NFL as well as who will get them some good money while they are in college.
  2. There’s a writer on a website I subscribe to called Defector that covers the WNBA really well. I know she’s really pumped about this matchup. This should be a really entertaining finals. So much talent on the floor for both squads. I guess this is kinda how it must have been back in the 60’s to watch an NBA Finals game when the league had just 8 teams and they’d have multiple HOF’s on each team.
  3. I try to refrain from vagaries and lumping entire areas together, but the states of the south are wholly out of touch with anything resembling empathy for others that don’t look like them or come from a different culture. I have zero desire to ever set foot there again. They are in every sense, and we can echo this back to the Civil War, the people (Read that to mean uneducated by choice white people) there are as big a strain on the rest of the US as the East Elbian descendants were and still are to Germany. They are a lost cause.
  4. I think I’m probably barred from entering the white Jesus territory from Texas to Florida. I’m good with that.
  5. Luckily for Texas this year isn’t filled with a bunch of heavyweight contenders overall. I would have Washington as one, Oregon if they beat the Huskies and then perhaps Michigan. The rest is wide open.
  6. It’s just absolutely unreal how we are in the year 2023 and people like this not only exist, but make decisions based on a blatant misuse of power based on misinterpretations of faith. Good on you for learning about other people and cultures while enduring what I am sure needed to have been followed up by some mess around and find out moments of those people you watched who made crazy decisions.
  7. Organized Christianity in many parts of this country has turned into a religion of hate and oppression. I want these people to face some actual oppression in their own lives. For this clown it should be the loss of his job and then being forced to live in The Bronx for the rest of his life where he will encounter loud unChristian-like music 24/7 and plenty of spontaneous twerking.
  8. That is such a fun zoo to get to go to. I love to see the birds there. Each borough does a great job with the bird part of their zoo location. I am glad you were able to take your granddaughter there!
  9. Oh gosh that coffee had something extra in it. I remember meeting a family that was on vacation last summer and they had Russian accents. I asked them where they were from and told me they lived in California. I told them it was okay to say they were originally from Russia once I mentioned the accent of the parents (Kids definitely have never been raised there). They were just so embarrassed to admit to anything even remotely Russian because of Ukraine.
  10. Am I to believe that a man who is barely ever seen in public, almost never gives an interview and has only a very small social media presence going to be freely chatting with someone worth billions more than himself? Put it on the fake news stack.
  11. After how the US was abused in the front court I would say yes on four bigs.
  12. One of my best friend’s oldest daughter is Ashleigh Williams. I believe she scored the first goal for Tech (#37). She is just like her father as a competitor. Her dad played at a small college for football, but he played in semi-pro leagues in Dallas until he was 41. I know it sucks she beat Texas, but I am happy for my friend and his daughter.
  13. Run some ads saying this next year because why the heck not.
  14. Every bit helps and I am glad for those receiving aid with their student loans this time around. I think what I hope changes is seeing a mindset of being glad to see others getting a lifeline here instead of people being angry that it is not their loans being forgiven. I mean I could’ve used that original 10k, but the GQP happened so that was off the table. Seeing multiple efforts put forth to give help with what is often crippling debt is cool with me.
  15. Have you already forgotten how Rui shut down Jokic in the WCF? Just a preview of 82 straight games of domination from Rui! I honestly look forward to this every year. As someone who at one point rooted for a team starting Smush Parker and Kwame Brown, seeing who gets framed as being well overvalued by our fanbase is a fun thing to witness. I mean we may turn Gabe Vincent into a DPOY or All-NBA player depending upon how he looks in the pre-season.
  16. Every single team that has had enormous success, no matter the sport, has these people. It is magnified because the fanbase is the largest in the NBA, as well as worldwide for that matter. When you have that many people that have access to social media you are going to hear a lot of insane things like that. Get ready for the push to get Austin Reaves to be a starter in the All-Star game and Hachimura to be most improved. For the record I like Hachimura a good bit going back to Gonzaga, but I won’t be supporting that. I know it’s coming if he comes out of the gates hot. My fellow fans are a humorous group a good chunk of the time.
  17. Guys I was having a nice day and then that notification went off. Next thing I know I’m in Brooklyn! Someone named Q told me I’ll know where to go next!
  18. Vic Lombardi was my favorite sportscaster as a kid! We lived in the country and did not have access to cable channels until Directv came into existence. We only got whatever stations my dad’s 50 foot antenna picked up from Waco and Austin and occasionally Houston. Lombardi was like an ESPN anchor with how he presented sports on KXAN channel 36 in Austin. I still vividly remember him calling the QB from my high school in Lampasas, Pablo “Picasso” Jass, in 1994. I am sure if I got in touch with Pablo he’d still remember Vic calling him that. I knew he was up there in Denver and I’m glad he’s still around. I’d love to cross paths with him one day to tell him thank you for how interesting he made sports to me and others when I was a kid. He was so energetic and upbeat. He was and is awesome to me.
  19. Well, bye. Just go hangout in Bakersfield and call it a career. When you are already a proven liar that tries to make deals with people who hate you and are even worse human beings than you, well, this is called getting what you deserve. Sargeant Schultz could’ve done a better job as Speaker.
  20. This is a heavy read, but what a book. The insights provided into the minds of Japan’s military commanders, as well as Emperor Hirohito himself, was well worth the almost 900 pages it encompasses. It was published in 1970 when many of the participants or their immediate subordinates were still alive. The ability to interweave stories of the average Japanese soldier on the battlefield and civilians caught in the crossfire made this a wonderful read. I highly suggest reading this book if you have an interest in the Pacific War, especially from the perspective of the enemy at the time. John Toland wrote a history that still is found to be really interesting almost 80 years after hostilities ended.
  21. That it was done on an 80 million dollar budget is really impressive because the cgi in the movie is really cool.
  22. You know when you are regularly referred to by the derogatory nickname “Streetclothes”, it’s probably best to just say nothing.
  23. That was a really cool way to express embracing life and what happens to you is going to happen and just roll with it. It’s something I personally do because there is no point in getting angry over what you can’t control or someone’s words about you. Take it in, process it and move forward. Take those moments where you could be angry and realize that perhaps being late for something has kept you out of a situation that would have not been a good one or take that time to do something good for yourself. He framed his perspective very well so thank you for sharing.
  24. No that’s the last one. This is the one that’s going to program you to walk out to a largely undeveloped area called College Station to defecate on the grass of a college campus there and the dead dog graveyard. Well all be following your progress. Good luck and Godspeed.
