The confrontational aspect is something that in theory he can work on and change, but you have to want to change and be willing to put in a lot of time and concerted effort to change. Only he knows for sure if he’s willing to do that. For his own sake I hope he does. This website, if we are being honest, was not good for his mental health. Being confrontational and unapologetic when you are called to the carpet is not a good mix for anyone, much less someone who struggles with the mental aspect of life. I hope he finds a better outlet than this place that can help him to grow as a person in a positive manner.

USC getting the screw job on that one. Absolutely. For them that’s like playing at 9am. That is some really silly scheduling there. -

Looking at their schedule Colorado should, and I stress should, be bowl eligible after the game with Arizona on November 11th. The next two games are likely losses, but no shame losing to Oregon and USC. The Arizona schools are both mediocre to be kind about it and Stanford is as well. That seems like a fantastic first year to get to six wins. Any upsets outside of that are just the icing on the cake. I wouldn’t put it past them to beat one of Wazzu or OSU. -
I don’t have any qualms about sharing it and the only way I will get my mom to let it go forward is to ensure it is not sold outright. Her thoughts about the car are most important since she was 21 or so at the time and her and my dad were just four years into their marriage when they got this car. If my younger brother had any actual interest in restoring it I would do it with him. He’s got a young family and no time for that though. My friend is someone I have known since junior high and his wife was in my 1st grade class so I trust that level of knowing someone. I’m not real material-oriented, but the memories my mom had with that car are too much to just outright sell it.

Is not so much that Hunter got hurt, but how he got hurt, IMO. I think that in instances like this where a guy is clearly taking a cheap shot they should have to sit out the same amount of games that the injured player does. There was no reason for that hit and the insinuation up thread by one of the professional trolls, who has been banned under at least 8 different names, that Hunter is paying for Deion being Deion, is just ugly to read. Nobody deserves to take a shot like that because a player doesn’t like the opposing head coach. We have some really seriously crazy people posting here when I read stuff like that. -
A friend back in my hometown was texting with me while he was on a fishing trip down to the Gulf with his father. He asked me when I was going to sell him my mother’s 1971 Plymouth Duster Twister. The car is one of only two things I specifically asked my mom to give to me in her will. The other was a piano from the 19th century that sits in her house. The car needs a lot of work, but the thing is I want it to be restored and running like it was the day my mother got it. It was the first new vehicle she had been able to buy. I want her to see that thing running again while she is here. I have talked with my mom and I suggested to my friend that I’ll split ownership of the car mainly because I have zero desire to ever live in my hometown and he is a never moving away due to his family and his business. I told him I’m willing to split the cost on restoring it (the engine block is still in good shape which is great), but he can keep it at his place since he can get the work done there. He also wants my mom to see the thing on the road again. I think I am going to do this because he has restored several other cars in his free time and he is one of the few people I would trust with this car. I plan on leaving the mainland for Hawaii next year and then hopping off to other places to live around the world so this seems like a good way to ensure the car will be taken care of. I wish I had some pictures of the car that aren’t just something from a Google image search. This thing will be awesome once it’s restored though and I know it’ll make my mom really happy.

We could meet up while you’re here if you want. My UWS time is spent more in places like the AMNH where I have a membership or the AMC by Lincoln Center. Got some cool new exhibits that I enjoy seeing like the butterfly room at the AMNH. -

I see that you are perhaps not as well versed in reading hot takes. All of these “take artists” constantly try to one up each other while getting to the top of the fictitious Mount Take, as coined by, if memory serves correct, Drew Magary on Defector. It’s embarrassing the lengths grown people will go to in order to spit out hot takes that are just nonsense. Just enjoy the show that is Deion and tune in to see what he’ll do next instead of the one-upping other posters with comically terrible takes. -

I’ll be honest here. Working as a server makes me stay away from restaurants. It’s not because I have anything against good establishments, and I am sure these two are nice, but I can only take so much of being in the setting of a restaurant. I will attempt to try these places though. Thank you for the recommendations. -

When one climbs Mount Take you don’t do it silently. That was a salvo to be delivered on their way to the top where they can attempt to dethrone King Screamin’ and the Prince of Dark Takes, Lord Bayless. Many more loud tales are coming for the take climbers. -

People shouting from the top of Mount Take is honestly one of the most humorous things you will find on this website. Really that can be applied to any other place where hot takes come in by the hundreds when a team loses that they are wanting to see fail anyhow. -

I am not real certain how a team gets exposed when it was supposed to, if things went exceptionally well, hit 3 wins this year. Reaching a bowl is now a very significant possibility and anyone who thought they could even be having that conversation three weeks ago would be labeled either a blind homer, high as a kite or both. They are looking competent, (his son’s play at QB has a great deal to do with this), despite subpar line play and a well below average running game. These things can be fixed in the off-season, but building up a winner out of a school that knows very little about that subject in the last 20 years is a pretty cool thing to witness. I hope Sanders keeps doing his thing and winning many more game along the way. -
Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez is doing a great job standing up for Americans who are getting bilked continually by special interest groups in Washington. It should not be real shocking that she excels at this job. You learn a lot about people through both her great education from Boston University as well as the countless hours she spent as a bartender. It teaches you both patience with people and how to spot frauds just by listening. I was in her district in 2020 and voted for her re-election. It won’t be a big shock to see her eventually serve in the Senate. Her and Katie Porter are probably the two legislators that excel the most in congressional hearings.

I think it has been commendable that the NBA has done so much to ensure the growth of the women’s game over the last 25 years. Seeing people like Wade now investing in the Chicago Sky is a positive step. My guess is that financially they will have a degree of independence within the next three years. The NBA still owns half of the league and honestly the financial investment for them to keep the league afloat has been couch change overall. If it really were a dire detriment to the NBA they would have pulled the plug a long time ago. I looked at a brief overview and of their financials and they look like they are on solid footing. Again what is good for them seems like a drop in the bucket in comparison to other pro sports leagues in the US. I would say that they should look at expanding the footprint by four teams. Getting players to stop playing overseas is easier now that the Russian oligarch tap has been turned off. That league was basically a competition between billionaire Russians that was never meant to turn a profit. A longer season along with more sponsors seems to be helping them as well. I am all for them succeeding in the short and long-term. Giving women another outlet to become pro athletes is good for society as a whole. Right now the best bet has been soccer and tennis and rightfully so. I just don’t have a dismissive attitude towards women’s sports. I believe they are important as a whole. Europe has made wholesale investments in their women’s football programs and they are bearing fruit in the results and financially as well. I see no reason that there will not be positive growth in the WNBA as the league now positions itself as the best place for women to earn a living playing the sport.

Kenny Paxton/Dave P's Impeachment Game Day Thread
UpperWestside replied to atomheartbevo's topic in Cloak Room
Not solely due to this, but Texas you are a failed state. You are somehow more corrupt AND embarrassing than Florida. “Florida man”has nothing on “Texas man.” I think I can go the rest of my life without ever visiting the state where I was born. You absolutely have the government that you want and deserve. -
Look who is back on top of the FIBA rankings?!?! https://www.fiba.basketball/usa-back-on-top-and-world-champions-germany-take-top-three-spot-in-fiba-world-ranking-men-presented-by-nike Yes they should probably go back to the drawing board on the amount of years worth that is included in a ranking.

Saw that Vanderbilt was given a four year extension by the Purple and Gold. 12 million a season sounds about right for him.

I don’t know what would be the bigger story. LeBron possibly using peds or that anyone still reads Deadspin.

To be honest here I probably would not want a man’s perspective when it comes to the interest, or lack thereof, in a women’s professional sport. I like Bill Burr though and find him to be really funny. I try to remember that they are still less than 30 years into things. The NBA, which is now a worldwide product with the sport being the 2nd most popular in the world, had finals games on tape delay as recently as 1980. They were about 35 years in at that point and had a very niche following when it came to sports in America. I will say that I was surprised to read that viewership is up 21 percent this year and the attendance figures, while they pale in comparison to the NBA, were around 6600 per game. Expanding to 40 game schedules seem to have helped. That is some significant growth for them. If they could ever completely stand on their own two feet without any assistance from the NBA then I would probably say they would then be a league worth taking seriously. The hardest obstacle they have is that when people want to see basketball they are going to watch the NBA first because of the incredible athleticism. There is not much the WNBA can do about that discrepancy. Again I am not a fan of the league, but I just try to be mindful that they do have a loyal fan base and that in general they do good in the communities they are in, which is cool.

Well one would hope none. It’s just more the sentiment I think. I ran across someone earlier this week that wants to go see the Liberty play. I told her it would probably be an enjoyable experience. I will probably go at some point just to have attended at least one game. I enjoy watching how we all interact with each other and when you get to see the pure joy a child has when they are watching someone they look up to play ball or act on Broadway or any of that stuff it seems worth experiencing. I mean I definitely would not be there for the below the rim play. I can usually count on the Knicks for that.

I have no idea. It is truly a great time to be alive to see it happen. Walking around looking like a character off My Name is Earl while he is paid millions to do what I am not real sure, but here we are.

@Beau Vine next week y’all have Lampasas. I assume that Wimberley has a link to their home broadcast and I would like to watch the game if possible. Lampasas, true to form, does not play a great deal of defense, but can score. They could’ve put 90 on the board against East View from Georgetown, but once they hit 66 with 7 left in the 3rd they let everyone play and wound up with 72. I have no expectation of them beating Wimberley, but Reed Jerome is giving them far more competent play at QB than they have had the last two seasons. I believe they also have a freshman WR named Ty Johnson that caught a 66 yard TD last night against Pflugerville Connally that wound up being the game winner. He seemed to have a bit better speed and height than what Lampasas usually has.

I am not a fan of WNBA basketball, but to disparage it seems to be on the decidedly not cool side. I know people who watch more high school football in Texas than should be humanly possible, but it’s what they enjoy watching. To people here where I live it comes across as crazy that people are that passionate about teenagers playing a sport. I still try to watch my high school when they have their broadcast on YouTube so I see the enjoyment you can get from the sport. The WNBA has a small fanbase and that’s fine. It gives hope to a lot of young girls that want to look to be a professional athlete one day. Anything that is positive in nature such as the WNBA is cool by me. Now OU football on the other hand, well, that can just be bombed back to the Stone Age. Nobody should be subjected to the war crime that is that team.

This guy is some of the best unintentional comedy we will ever see in this lifetime. That he has a mouth-breathing guy like Pat McAfee around to document all of his insane behavior is just incredible. I will also not bet you on any of those things not happening because I feel certain he’ll experiment with bat guano.
