  1. There’s a lot of time left for this to still happen. Once he’s up and around and able to go visit his blackout cave the voices might tell him to visit some ancient village in the Amazon built by aliens that left behind a snake venom antidote that cures everything from torn acl’s to cancer. I for one look forward to him chronicling his adventure to self-healing.
  2. Is it the best care or is that just what the mainstream media would have you believe? Rodgers has definitely had this thought.
  3. LeBron Instagram: We need our big men to run the floor like Kareem. Is LeBron trying to bring Kareem out of retirement to join the Lakers for a title run? -Bill Simmons probably
  4. I spent almost the entirety of summer reading about the war in the Pacific. I will post more of the books that I read when I have time, but a set of books that are just an absolute must read is Ian Toll’s trilogy on the Pacific War. It’s around 1800-1900 pages of reading in total and it’s completely worth the time spent doing so even if you do not read real fast. It took me about a month and a half, but I was doing most of the reading on the train to and from work. You can buy the hardcover as a set or do like I did and buy them individually. Toll is local to New York and I am going to attempt to find out when he will be speaking because the work put into these books is just incredible. I find the Pacific War to be more interesting so I gravitated towards these books pretty easily. Toll is a great storyteller as well.
  5. Pos rep for using an Endeavour gif!
  6. No man knows when Gritty comes for them, but tomorrow would be a good start with this guy. Absolutely delusional stuff to be saying.
  7. I don’t disagree with his defensive deficiencies. However, there was not a whole lot of cohesiveness to much of what the team did defensively. Reaves is a guy that plugs into a team based defensive scheme better than a guy who you can isolate on someone and know they aren’t going to score. I’ll take his shot making and find someone who can play that backline and be cool with that. The US needs continuity and he showed he can score and if given an actual big man behind him a lot of those deficiencies are covered. Having the JJJ Experience behind him as the last line of defense was a nightmare. He should never put the uniform on ever again.
  8. Turf is just horrific for the career these guys chose. If it can be done you spend the more year to get a grass field again. My old high school is still playing on the same grass field they have been on since FDR was in his first term in the 30’s. Grass is superior in every way to turf. Watching football on a grass field is better and the injuries are fewer. That the owners won’t just do this on every field where it is possible is insane.
  9. I just kinda try to be polite to people I come across in life that have praise for Musk. He is one of the most intentionally destructive human beings alive. He will not change. He is incapable of even attempting to do better. He is who he is and anyone supporting him in any way is someone you just cease to converse with. There are better ways to spend our extremely short time on this planet than being a mouthpiece for him.
  10. We all have the capability to be that. I do not always spend time attempting to understand everyone that acts like that, but there is usually a reason for someone being that way. I naturally find things like this interesting though so thinking about a person’s reasons for their behavior is probably not going to be as interesting in the types of encounters you have. Having daily face-to-face encounters doing my job makes it fun to me.
  11. Criminal, war criminal, narcissistic head case, clownfraud, irredeemable human excrement. You can pick a ton of labels for this coward and all would fit. I have detailed my biggest issue with him, but to the rest of the world he needs to be remembered as a cowardly criminal that backed down in the face of authoritarianism because it is what he respects and aspires to be. He’ll never be the hero that he is in his mind (Absolutely has delusions of grandeur), but if you can control the narrative you can be whatever you want people to see you as.
  12. Schroeder wound up being the MVP of the tournament and deservedly so. Taking out his horror show game in the quarters he was the leader for The Deutschland and seems to take a lot of pride in that. He is the ideal point guard in FIBA basketball. He is what every country needs in a floor general. It really is pretty cool how he takes control of the Germans when he he has the ball in his hands. Germany will be better in the Olympics if Kleber play. Playing far closer to home in Paris will also be big for the Weltmeister. I am still not sure Fox would fit the profile of what you want in that style of play. Curry is even at his age the kind of player that can play well despite no experience with the FIBA game. When 35 feet is your range you can be on the court despite defensive limitations. His relationship with Kerr will be a big plus for him, especially if they bring Draymond aboard. When Curry is on he’s the most dangerous guard in the game. Halliburton would be someone to have, especially with the experience in the World Cup. The US needs some continuity. Reaves needs to be brought back and given a bigger role.
  13. If I compared someone that said 2+2=potato they would also be in the stand up guy column when compared to Favre. It’s a 7th Circle of Hell level bar Rodgers is higher than. Such a waste when you consider the good he could have been doing this far in his life. I kind of feel like Rodgers has done his family a favor in being estranged from them.
  14. I don’t wish injuries on anyone, but this one seems fitting for Rodgers. He is not the sharpest tool in the shed and his embracing of quack science vs. now having to embrace doctors who will be using actual science to get him back to full health is quite the 180. Rodgers comes across as a really uneducated human being when he starts talking so I can only imagine some of the eye-rolling a few doctors and rehab specialists will be doing in dealing with him directly for at least a full calendar year.
  15. Kawhi can just avoid all this and move to Europe and play a cool 30 games or so every year.
  16. The US needs big men on the roster that can shoot and defend. The Germans just showed us the roster construction you need to win. They did it with Schroeder handling the ball the majority of the time, but he had the Wagner brothers and Theis out there as well as another really solid big in Johannes Voightman. They were not your typical European squad and their size is going to be a headache again for the US if we don’t send guys who understand the international game.
  17. Germany wins it, but the Serbians made them earn it. Schroeder and Franz Wagner were brilliant today. Without Schroeder the Germans probably don’t make the quarterfinals. His ability to handle the rock for long stretches of the game was invaluable for them and it’s why he’s an elite point guard in the international game. Franz looks like he is taking that next step and is using this competition as a springboard for the upcoming season. He and his brother Moritz looked a lot better than their American teammate did in this competition. Kinda crazy to think that the Deutschland is now the World Champions in basketball. I also think Isaac Bonga needs to be given another shot to make an NBA roster. There is no way that he can’t be at least somewhere between the 12-15th player on a roster. He’s just 23 (Even though he looks like he’s 35) and can play some really good on ball defense.
  18. Germans are seizing control up 64-53 with 2 to go in the 3rd. Every single shot is being contested and Schroeder is playing flawlessly right now. I expect the Serbians to eventually go in a run of their own, but right now they can’t buy a bucket.
  19. 47 all going into the half. These guys are playing like it’s game 7 of the finals. This is such a cool competition to watch, especially since it’s in a country that absolutely loves the sport. Japan, The Philippines and Indonesia did a great job hosting the tournament.
  20. Great game for the title right now. Germans are up 43-42 as we get close to halftime. These Serbian fans seem like a pretty raucous group that’d be fun to watch a game with.
  21. Had to stop on my way in this morning to admire this for a moment. How awesome to see her name is the last one left standing.
  22. Brooks scores 39 and the US loses in OT to Canada. They had not medaled in the sport since Jesse Owens was blowing by nazis on the track in 1936. Quite the way to end the tournament.
  23. I was in a different place in life and tennis was not a part of it. Not real hard to understand. I just rarely watched the sport during their heyday. I had other priorities and to be honest I watched very little in the way of sports overall during most of those years.
  24. Look when they went to join the SEC they said this was a 100 year decision. So many years and so many rollercoaster rides still to go before we know how things turnout.
  25. I have watched him, but I am so used to seeing sleeves on shirts that what they wear all just becomes the same to me. I also did not watch much of the Big 3 era because I had no rooting interest in any of them.
