Logan Sargent to join Prema’s IndyCar team next year. This seems like a win for everyone. Logan wasn’t ready for F1, but he has talent and could definitely develop into a good driver. I’d love to see Pourchaire get picked up by Prema too after he was done dirty by McLaren.

Well, the list is pretty fucked up so it is impossible to tell what 247 is doing. But, if you look at the names they have listed, it does add up to 6 DT.
https://247sports.com/recruitment/kevin-wynn-155054/recruitinterests/
It’s really fucking obvious that list isn’t showing all of our DL. It literally says it’s only showing DEs, not the whole DL.
It’s missing Collins, Norton, and Lole. That’s 9 DTs plus 2 commits for 2 starting spots.

Gonna go out on a limb here but Palou is clearly the best driver in Indycar. Shame McLaren's F1 team is jammed.
Yeah, he’s clearly ahead of everyone else. He’s got a great shot at winning 3 IndyCar titles in 4 years, which is absolutely absurd in a spec series. It would have been fun to see him get a shot in F1, but Piastri going to McLaren ended that. At this point, he should probably just stay in IndyCar and become the best driver ever in that series, unless a top F1 team with a chance at a title comes calling.

A tiny bit outdated from Kevin Wynn's 247 profile (and counting Lance Jackson as a DL):
Florida State
8 DL, 0 Commits
Georgia
11 DL, 2 Commits
Texas
6 DL, 2 Commits
Alabama
13 DL, 2 Commits
you appear to be counting DTs, not all DL, and I don’t know where you’re getting your numbers from, but you should find a different source.
We have 9 DTs on the roster, counting Bledsoe. And he’s listed at 293 on the Texas website, which is definitely DT weight, not edge.

I still don't have any sources or leaks. Going to "call" some people today to act like I am doing something, but we all know shit isn't happening today because it's the national championship. I defer to Hamm.
You were dead wrong within half an hour of your post. That is extremely impressive, even for Surly. Bravo, sir.

Looking at the lap time charts, both Lando and Charles stayed out 2-3 laps too long in the first stint. Charles especially had too much deg to stay out that long on the first stint. He could beat George for 4th probably. They both lost a lot of time in those last laps in the first stints and didn’t gain enough back on the last two stints because no one had to stretch their tyres that much in the last two stints.

Yeah I was not a fan of Wanica the driver, but as a commentator, she's coming up all aces imho. Very insightful and not afraid to say some things some of the others are too nice to say. And not bad on the eyes either.
She reminds me of Nico. Both are kind of raw and still new enough to commentating that they just give their opinions unfiltered, which creates some really good insights.
Feels like the rest of the Sky crew have been doing this stuff for so long that they just regurgitate the same comments every race.

I’m not a fan of Danica generally and she’s not well suited for being a full commentator, but she’s actually doing a great job trackside giving insights that are hard to tell from TV, like talking about late breaking, stability, and ride over the curbs.
I like Brundle, but a lot of times he falls into the same talking points he’s been making for decades now and he doesn’t give much real insight race to race on stuff like this.

During his recruitment, one of our commits was asked if he was going to tell Corey to come to Texas. He replied, and I'm paraphrasing here, "That's a grown ass man, I'm not telling him shit!" We need a few of those bad ass'.
Texas not having coaches that could recruit and develop kids from a challenging environment is more of an issue with the Texas supporters and coaches than the schools they came from.
The worst decade in the history of Texas football coincides with Texas moving away from North Shore, and others. Maybe if they changed their name to North Lake ...

Sargeant, IMHO leaving him in the car is just like punishment at this point. He's a truly quick driver, but he's been completely broken for about a year now. His confidence is utterly destroyed.
Yeah, he’s a decent talent, but not F1 level. I’d like to see him get a shot in IndyCar after this. I think it could be good for him. His good races would stand out and the shitty ones would be overlooked while he develops.

Why wouldn’t I be good? The last race I remember was Charles Leclerc winning his home race in Monaco. It does seem like an unnecessarily long gap til Barcelona, though.

Sainz evidently wants more freedom than he is going to get through Audi or RBR (2 year deals vs 1+1?)
plus the whole Sainz vs Verstappen dad fight that is evidently very, very real and very, very hot still.
man
Checo is going to be a shell of himself at the end of this. dude is already getting smoked every week. can his psyche handle another 2 years of getting the shit kicked out of you every single day?
updated driver lineups
Assuming Piereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Gatslyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy stays at Alpine. Stroll at AM. Sounds like Danny Ric + Yuki or Lawson (they want someone to buy them out of Yuki) at VCARB
leaving us with:
- 2 seats at Haas (Bearman rumored, Terry Botass rumored, seen Ocon rumored here but don't think you keep him when you shot Mick into the sun for wrecks, we know Gene loves pay drivers so maybe Zhou here?)
- 1 seat at Alpine (Doohan rumored for a while)
- 1 seat at MB (Kimi Antonelli?)
- 1 seat at Williams (Kimi Antonelli or Sainz rumored? Terry Botass landing spot?)
- 1 seat at Audi (Sainz or Yuki rumored? Sainz makes a ton of sense and has been rumored here forever)
My guess for silly season:
Haas: Ocon and Bearman.
Merc: AntonelliVCARB: Danny Ric and Lawson.
Williams: Sainz
Audi: Tsunoda
Alpine: Zhou. They need the money and want sales in China. And it’s not like they’re trying to run a competitive F1 team anyways.-

1 hour ago, Park Gothic said:I understand the appeal of LSU to an unsophisticated person. And I mean "unsophisticated" in the technical sense, not calling them stupid or anything. They lack expertise or experience, and can be convinced by a pitch that seems strong on a superficial level. While at Texas, Bo Davis helped put four different DL in the NFL, including a first-rounder. Credit where its due, Davis was the coach most responsible for developing Murphy. If they have a strong NIL pitch - regardless of the veracity of the pitch - to go with Davis' reputation, I can understand it. I also understand that people in CFB coaching circles are high on Kenny Baker's potential, but he has nothing to sell at the moment. So I don't necessarily fault him for not winning head-to-head with Davis, although it is disconcerting.
But where the fuck was this version of Bo Davis at Texas? Why did Davis struggle to recruit quality DL here? There's no way that our NIL and sales pitch are worse than LSU (with or without Davis). Was he focused on development and there's only so many hours in the day? Did he think his 2022 class was enough to coast on (despite not being as good as it seemed on paper)?
I don't get it. I hope that Zion and Brown sit down with the staff and they can explain why LSU's pitch is bullshit. I hope we get that chance. Because I'm pretty fucking sick and tired of losing recruits to a school that I frankly view as being worse than A&M.
This is the good shit. Bo Davis having sway with (but not yet actually flipping) a guy he got to commit to Texas is a clear sign he’s recruiting at a much higher level at LSU than he was at Texas.
Nevermind that he hasn’t actually gotten any commitments and he just completely struck out on landing a single quality DT transfer on a team whose DT depth chart is in more trouble than the buttons on one of Elko’s blazers.

Checo re-signed for two more years at Red Bull. The Constructor’s title fight is on for the next three seasons boyz!
I saw one guy reporting it’s a 1+1 with a team option, which would make more sense. Still kind of shocked they stayed with Checo when Sainz is available. I guess they think giving Max the absolute best possible shot at WDC over the next 2 years is way more important than the WCC.

this certainly puts a new color on that stupid wreck he caused last weekend.
Ocon was already planning to leave so this announcement is more about timing by Alpine and them trying to save face amidst being an absolute dumpster fire of a team/organization.
1 hour ago, kevwun said:I'd say this might be the end of his F1 career.
Maybe. He's still a good driver, despite his teammate issues. There's been a lot of rumors about Ocon to Haas, it's unclear whether that's to replace K Mag or take Bearman's spot alongside K Mag. An Ocon-K Mag might be one of the most entertainingly crashy lineups in the history of F1. If Haas doesn't work out, then his options could get thin. I would think Sauber/Audi would be his only option after that since Sainz doesn't seem to want to go there.
It's interesting. A lot of rumors are popping up that Sainz may choose Williams over Sauber/Audi next year. Seems like a weird choice, but apparently Audi wants Sainz locked in for many years, while Williams would give him flexibility to jump teams if a better spot opens up in the next year or two.

NIL finally giving Mizzou the tools it needs to take advantage of being in a state with two big cities and lots of corporations.
Yeah, they've definitely been a huge beneficiary of NIL. They still have the issue of a huge chunk of their state being OU fans, though. Mizzou winning more and having NIL funds will cut into OU's natural ties and recruiting so I'm all for it.

You win with guards and fowards in the tournament. That much is clear. Purdue had the best big in college basketball for 3 seasons, and made it past the opening weekend once. He did light up Connecticut's big in the final, but their guard was awful and the Connecticut guards just snuffed them out. Our most talented team in the last 10 years, had Disu and Bishop in the post. Neither were taller than 6'10". You guys are shitting your pants over guys that don't make a big difference in the tournament. Depsite our lack of "size" we will have our tallest team in years because we finally have size on the wings with
6'6" Mark
6'6" Presley
6'6" Johnson
6'7" Pryor
6'8" Kent
Even our guards are bigger than last year with
6'3" Weaver
6'4" Larry
6"2" Pope
Then you add our bigs
6'8" Oneyma
6'9" Codie
6'11" Shedrick
As if we needed any more confirmation that Terry fucked this up royally.

It is what's being discussed. NIL is just code word for paying players, but you know that already.
Actual NIL is just endorsements, and I'm not against any player making as much as they can from endorsements, but if you think that's how NIL is actually working, you're either insane or being disingenuous.
This is why I said I understand the "sentiment" of the LSU poster.
College football has jumped the "amateur" shark, so we should just stop pretending that these kids aren't professional athletes. There needs to be revenue sharing and salary caps. Hell, I don't even think they should be made to go to class. I think they should have access to scholarships and be able to play school while playing if they choose to, but also allow them to postpone going to school until after their football careers are over.
College football is just an NFL development league and should be treated as such.... the NFL has a salary cap, and so should college football.
I recognize there are people who disagree, but that's my opinion.
4 minutes ago, DixonHur said:No... I'm advocating for players being paid by the school directly... IE being employees.
Endorsements would be up to them and their agents to secure. But they'd be real endorsements instead of being glorified bag payments like they are now.
I mean does anyone really believe 3* DT recruits are signing actual endorsement deals? There are probably only a handful of players on the Texas roster with actual endorsement deals.
You seem confused here. There could be, and likely will be, direct pay from schools with a salary cap (but that will require some type of collective bargaining with the players).
There is no way to legally put a cap on NIL. Those are two completely separate things. There’s no scenario where NIL gets counted into the cap.

Lol wut. He has elite athleticism, he’s a good rebounder and a solid defender and that’s it. He hurts your offense just being on the floor and you can’t have him in late in games because he’s a horrible FT shooter for his size . In what world is he anything more than a role player?

Yep. He had an easy opportunity to shut down the question clearly, instead he side-stepped it entirely and walked out. That sounded much more like the response of someone who doesn’t expect to stay but doesn’t want to say that right after his team just lost.
It’s wild that some people took that answer to be a sign he’s staying.
