  1. As the resident Leclerc stan, it’s my duty to point out he’s been driving only the 4th fastest car and he’s finished 4th and 3rd with a pole the last two weeks. He had a rough stretch for a few weeks, but he’s gotten basically everything possible out of the car the last two weeks.
  2. Except this is a 5 year deal with 140 guaranteed and the money he will actually see from this deal is only about 10% of the cap. His deal will be re-structured way before he ever sees that last year and probably the last two years, which is why the OP was asking Texzilla why he cares so much about the signing bonus and what Love actually got paid versus the cap impact. 4/220 is just agent spin on this contract. Only $140 is actually guaranteed, which is what really matters. Realistically, this is a 3/86 or 4/128 deal, which will average out to about 10% of the cap over the life of the deal. If Love proves to be great, then his next deal will be massive, but this one isn’t actually that crazy. If Love is bad, then the team will have to restructure and push the cap hit out, but they’ll be screwed no matter what if he sucks and there’s no avoiding paying your QB. Love also has less guaranteed money than Tua, which means Texzilla’s bullshit comparing the Love and Tua deals is also completely wrong. Tua will be hitting the Dolphin’s cap for $60 mil in years 2 and 3 of his deal. That’s absolutely crippling for a team and why the Dolphins had to cut/let go so many of their other stars, yet Texzilla claims that deal is better. Love’s deal is way better for his team than Tua’s, because the Packers can be competitive for the next 3-4 years with the QB only taking up about 10% of their cap.
  3. Texzilla hates to see players get paid. He’s a simp for the owners. He spent all last offseason rejoicing at the idea that Lamar Jackson wasn’t going to get paid and claiming Lamar had made a huge mistake by not hiring an agent, only for Lamar to sign a record-setting deal.
  4. I’m guessing it’s the last part you mentioned. The upgrades usually weigh more at first so they can make them cheaper and quicker and confirm they work. The probably didn’t account for the extra ballast needed.
  5. I don’t think that one was for weight. IIRC, it was plank wear due to the bumpy COTA circuit.
  6. Pretty crazy that George was the only one to do the one stop. Have to think a McLaren or RB could’ve pulled that off. Sainz was talking about it, but ended up pitting. Spa continues to be one of the best tracks out there. Enough DRS to allow for overtaking but not enough to just breeze by. I was really surprised to see George hold off Lewis and Leclerc hold off Verstappen and Norris for the last 6 or 7 laps. I was preparing myself to see a Leclerc pole turn into a P6. Seems like overtaking needed to happen on new tires. Once tires were about half way through their life, they lost too much traction behind to overtake even if that driver was faster.
  7. I doubt Ferrari have the pace to win tomorrow, but a damn fine job by Leclerc to put the 4th fastest car on pole. And nice to see him do it in mixed conditions where he and the Ferrari have struggled recently.
  8. Hell yes. I look forward to Oregon fans shitting themselves every time there's a rumor Moore will be visiting campus for the rest of the cycle.
  9. They're the favorite to win it. They're averaging beating Red Bull by over 10 points per race since their upgrades in Miami. There are 12 races left and they're only 51 points behind. Unless RBR has a huge upgrade coming (they don't) or Checo/his replacement make a massive jump in from, McLaren is the clear favorite.
  10. Opponent BA of .278, WHIP of 1.49 and ERA of 5.64 doesn't sound great, but he's got two years left and he did improve his ERA by 1.2 between his freshman and sophomore season, so hopefully Weiner can get him to take another big jump and keep him around for the next two years.
  11. The best part about Surly being down all afternoon is that managing partners of accounting and law firms all over Texas are going to be lying awake at night wondering why their billables had such a huge spike on a day where a massive chunk of the state had no power or electricity.
  12. This could only be written by someone who’s never looked at our LB depth chart.
  13. Prema is having a horrible year and can’t figure out the new F2 car. Bearman’s had some decent races when the car isn’t terrible.
  14. Don’t think so. Lole was in the class of 2018 and has already used his Covid year, RS year and medical redshirt. Norton will be playing his 6th season this year. Savea has only played 3 seasons, but he started in 21 so no Covid year, and his UCLA bio says he played 10 games his freshman year, so that can’t count as a RS. This will be his final year, unless he gets hurt and counts 2024 as a RS or medical RS.
  15. People have to start learning the difference between DL and DT. We run a 4-2-5. Both DT and DE/edge are DL. We have 3 DL commits in a class of 13 commits right now.
  16. Listen here, Captain Autist. I didn't say he's the only driver that has not had rules consistently enforced. The difference is there have been multiple racing rule changes that stemmed almost entirely from Max's driving. Both the 2016 and 2021 racing rule changes came primarily in response to Max's antics. That's no the case for any other driver. Especially for 2021, the FIA should've clarified they would penalize Max's conduct going forward instead of changing the rules to fit his driving antics.
  17. It's absolutely wild how the FIA has let Max absolutely break driver standards since he joined F1 instead of just consistently enforcing the current rules and making Max adjust. In 2016, they had to clarify/change the rule about moving under braking, but even then the rule is not being enforced cleanly. Then we had all the post-2021 rules that now say you can dive bomb the apex and if you reach it first, you don't have to leave room, which makes absolutely no sense and ruins racing. Why the fuck are they constantly bending over backwards for one driver instead of just penalizing him until he learns how to defend and overtake the right way? Especially in an era where every change they make in the regs is about closer/better racing.
  18. Ferrari has been Ferrari’ing so hard since winning Monaco. Looks like Merc is legitimately a top car now. Crazy how much they’ve turned it around since the start of the season. It does seem like you can make huge jumps in performance in these regs more than previous ones. Both McLaren and Merc have had massive improvements mid-season the last two seasons.
  19. Well, he got it half right. They are absolutely steeped in hollow, fabricated traditions, like bubble guns. In fact, their cultish adherence to these jejune traditions is what drove away the most successful coach they’ve ever had. As for the success part, they won 2 CWS games and averaged less than one appearance per decade for over 75 years before Schloss got there. That puts them right around the median for D1 programs and when you consider only warm weather states are even good at baseball, they’re easily bottom quartile for those schools. But leave it to Texas A&M to fall short of mediocrity yet paint it as exceptionalism. They’ve been doing it for over 150 years now.
  20. Yep. He had an easy opportunity to shut down the question clearly, instead he side-stepped it entirely and walked out. That sounded much more like the response of someone who doesn’t expect to stay but doesn’t want to say that right after his team just lost. It’s wild that some people took that answer to be a sign he’s staying.
  21. TIL UTEX_ME posts on TexAgs as The Weast Side of Kyle.
  22. Logan Sargent to join Prema’s IndyCar team next year. This seems like a win for everyone. Logan wasn’t ready for F1, but he has talent and could definitely develop into a good driver. I’d love to see Pourchaire get picked up by Prema too after he was done dirty by McLaren. https://www.reddit.com/r/INDYCAR/s/4m83GdAyOW
  23. It’s really fucking obvious that list isn’t showing all of our DL. It literally says it’s only showing DEs, not the whole DL. It’s missing Collins, Norton, and Lole. That’s 9 DTs plus 2 commits for 2 starting spots.
  24. Yeah, he’s clearly ahead of everyone else. He’s got a great shot at winning 3 IndyCar titles in 4 years, which is absolutely absurd in a spec series. It would have been fun to see him get a shot in F1, but Piastri going to McLaren ended that. At this point, he should probably just stay in IndyCar and become the best driver ever in that series, unless a top F1 team with a chance at a title comes calling.
