This is great quote from Toto. Toto on seeing Lewis in red colours: "Yeah, it's a little bit like you divorce amicably, and it's all good, and then you see your partner for the first time with a new friend.

This is a horrible write up. It includes Nussmeier at QB who’s not even declaring and mentions Isaiah Bond as a possible top 5 WR. This has to be a recycled article from this summer.

Seeing as Ichiro can't even get unanimously voted into the HOF, I'd say 99 to 1. -
Couldn't agree more. He's the best #2 driver we could've hoped for!

Idk what to tell you other than you're out of your fucking mind if you think that team with Shaka at the helm was going to go to the Elite 8 or better. We were always going to lose a game we shouldn't to a lower seed, whether that was ACU or someone else.

While I agree with this to an extent, there is no way you can rely 95% on on-field play and essentially ignore measurables. There are some very key measurements that correlate extremely strongly with success at the next level. For instance, if you're drafting an edge rusher 3 cone times are extremely important. There was a study done a couple years back and it was about 85% of the top 15 or 20 edge rushers in the league had a 3 cone time under 7.10. So there is definitely a good reason for having certain measurable cutoffs at key positions, especially for first or second round picks. There's also just certain guys who have the baseline athleticism to let their other skills dominate in college, but they then fall below that baseline athleticism requirement in the NFL, so you can't just go off film. Not to mention you'd miss out on a ton of high-ceiling prospects if you only go off of film. Agree with this. His size/wingspan may keep him from being a dominant LT in the NFL, but he still has a ceiling of being a top 5-10 LT in the NFL, which is extremely valuable. And his floor is very high because he can move inside to G if OT isn't working and still become a Pro Bowl G, a la Cosmi. I really can't see him falling outside the top 15 in this draft, unless he's bottom 5 or 10 percentile for some of the size/reach measurements.

Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Handjob Helobious Is the Man!

Sorry to break it to you guys, but we didn’t lose Ringo because of UGA bag dropping. Kelee ran into Carl while he was in Austin over spring break, and he learned there’s not a single thot in all of Austin.- 8017 replies

Texas Recruiting Notes 2025: Duck Around and Find Out
Burt Macklin replied to texifornia's topic in 🤫$9.95🤫
247 Composite had them at 9th. Classes 7-10 were within 2 points of each other, which is a minuscule difference. So they pretty much finished just inside the top 10 on most sites, which is where they end up most years, and this was Elko’s new coach bump class. -
Him slipping now doesn't mean he'll keep falling. Pretty much every year draft analysts go through the same process with prospects. During the season they focus on the player's film and on-field play, then as we get to Senior Bowl and combine season prospects start to get underrated or overrated depending on measurables, and finally a couple weeks after the combine the analysts go back to rewatching the film and guys with good film move back up. This happens pretty much every cycle and it was always going to happen to Banks since he's smaller than your normal 1st round OT. As long as Banks' height or wingspan are below average but not drastically low I don't think his stock will change a ton from where it was towards the end of the season. The other thing that will help him is there aren't many other highly-rated OTs. Will Campbell is the only other OT thought to be a worth a top 10-15 pick. Personally, I don't think Campbell's play was all that great and he seems overrated to me. Either way, there's a good chance Banks goes top 10 or top 15 off teams reaching for need alone.

Eh. I think Shaka was a unique situation that can’t be applied to every new hire. He was immature and insecure. He thought he had to completely change his coaching style and the type of player he recruited to fit UT (despite no one telling him he had to do this). I still think he has some fundamental flaws that get much more exposed in a conference that’s competitive night in and night out so he’ll never be an elite coach, but I expect he’ll do a better job the next time he gets a shot at a major program by sticking to what works for him.

Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: They Can't Keep Getting Away With This

Depends on how technical you want to get. @@RGBIII's been shacking up with KKL, so he spends part of his time in Nebraska, part of his time in the Woodlands, and all of his time staring at ovaries on the table. -
Sure, but the mitigating factors made that loss way less painful to me than some of the other ones on his list.
-
I'm not sure I would count this as painful. Don't get me wrong, it was an awful loss, but I remember being happy about it after about 15 minutes because I knew it was likely the nail in the coffin for Shaka, and I also didn't believe for a second that Shaka's team would make a run in the tourney anyways. It had shades of Charlie Strong losing to Kansas his last year at Texas.
-
So international students are the new market inefficiency? Sark better be putting together an entire international scouting team.
-
Hell yeah, Mike. He’s gonna go sit in his office eating Cheetos all day and lie to all his future employers about watching every play of the 2025 season.
-
If Beard were still here, I have no doubt we’d be top or right at the top (probably not above Kentucky) of spending in the SEC. If we hit on the next coach, I expect it will be the same.

I think it’s pretty clear you only have yourself to blame on this. You kept harping on not worrying about the numbers, so now the numbers dorks have channeled their crippling anxiety into worrying about the position fit and convinced themselves one of the best OT prospects to come out of the state of TX in recent years is viewed as a G by our staff, which will ultimately push him away from Texas.- 2640 replies

Transfer Cycle 2024-2025 - Handjob Helobious Is the Man!

He might be a mercenary, but saying he wants to transfer for playing time after sitting and developing for two years is pretty reasonable. I don’t see how that gives off mercenary vibes at all. -

Don’t challenge Bevo on OL evals. He’s the same guy who told us that 5 star Brandon Baler would challenge for playing time at some point while he was on campus. -
Tet at 6 and Burden at 12 reeks of reaching for a position in one of the worst WR years in recent memory.

Nobody has said this. lol

This was always going to be the case. It’s part of why people have been saying they’ll have to be considered employees instead of students and there will need to be collective bargaining in order for a salary cap from the schools to apply. Title IX doesn’t apply to third-party-funds for now, but they’re leaving the door open just in case. I don’t think they’ll ever say third-party funds have to be equal under Title IX, nor would that be likely to hold up in court.

He's only making a mistake if you assume him coming back next year would result in a ton of development where he plays at an elite level and shores up some big areas of weakness. That's not very likely and unless that happens, he'd be making a mistake by not going this year. I think Williams would improve some but still have a lot of the same flaws he has this year. He's not likely to ever project as a top 15 pick. He can improve in his technique, but he's never going to have good feet or handle speed rushers well. NFL teams like traits and guys who come out of college early. Williams has both of those things right now, which is why he's already projected as a late first rounder despite having an up and down season on the field. If he comes back and shows a second year of film with a lot of the same flaws and is now a year older, he could absolutely hurt his stock quite a bit. Also, the difference between being a late first and a mid-first isn't that huge in terms of money. Byron Murphy was #16 overall last year and got 4/$16 mil fully guaranteed. Nate Wiggins was the #30 pick and got 4/$12.8 mil fully guaranteed. The amount of improvement Williams would have to show to jump from late first to mid-first would be pretty big, and I don't think it's very likely he would take that big of a jump next year.

Good stuff. I'm surprised he has Phillips #2 overall in the class. He's a physical freak, but there's uncertainty over his position and fit. Seems like too much of a question to have him as 5 star and #2 in the top overall class. Not sure what you mean about Lance Jackson being low. He's #3 overall in the top class in the country, meaning Gerry probably has him as top 15 or 20 player in the whole country. I agree on his upside. I could see him being a more explosive version of Alfred Collins, except he won't take 4 or 5 years to reach Collins' level this year. The WR takes this year are interesting. Ffrench and Lockett are good. I'd probably swap them and have Lockett higher. I think he has enough speed to be elite when combined with his size, quickness, and ability to make contested catches. Neither Ffrench or Lockett have the elite speed that Sark usually goes after. Wingo might be the only guy getting a lot of snaps next year who has the speed Sark usually covets. It could mean Sark is moving towards bigger targets who can make contested catches or these were just the guys he liked best this year. My guess is the latter, but it will be interesting to watch moving forward. Most people agreed DL was the biggest need for HS recruiting this year, and while it was a rollercoaster to get to NSD, we ended up with 3 elite prospects at DT. That's a massive win for the program. The odds all 3 of these guys hit are still low, and we need to keep stacking elite talent at DL, like tOSU and UGA do every year. OL will also be interesting. I agree with others on here that the recruiting services are generally bad at rating OL, but Flood has now gone 3 full recruiting classes of taking OL ranked outside the top 300 nationally, with Baker being the only exception. There's been a lot of trust placed in Flood over his evals the last three years, but the team's OL performance this year and the inability to find anyone on the roster who could play G at a high level this year really cost us in the run game and probably cost us a title this year. 2025 will be a huge year to see what he does with an OL of only guys he recruited. Our OL next year will need to time to develop, but if they're not playing at a high level by the end of the year it will lead to a lot of questions about Flood as an OL coach.
