  1. Sorry guys, Port Arthur’s own, and it ain’t close. She could also out drink anyone in her band(s).
  2. I liked his show. Wish someone could have helped him. The episode in Cuba where he allowed that nervous fucker to shave him with a straight razor was fucking awesome. The shot as he walks out the barber smiling with blood soaked tissue all over his face was great TV.
  3. Everyone knows I’m an LP guy. But, I always had a soft spot for the 335 because of Alvin Lee’s performance in the movie Woodstock. I don’t even like the song I’m going home, but he rips the shit out of it, making me a fan. The crunch, the growl, even the feedback that was problematic on those guitars, sounded absolutely righteous to my younger ears.
  4. Ha ha, I remember reading that. Tom over at the Les Paul forum shot that one down pretty damn quick. Since no photographs (currently) exist that showed the original repair on the neck, no one can be sure. Some claim it was actually a bolted on replacement after the original neck broke. But again, Tom over at the forum is the most knowledgeable person I have come across that knows a frighteningly amount of shit about those 57-60 burst’s. And he didn’t see enough to authenticate it as Marc’s. And he had apparently handled that the original before the neck broke. I do think there is a side photograph floating around that appears to show a bolt head or fastener of some type that was taken during a concert. And that is where the bolt on neck came from. But, without the original neck, that of course has the serial number, no one believes that is Bolan’s 59. Or, at least no one is convinced enough that they are willing to pay upwards of $500,000 for it.
  5. That is the mystery 59 Les Paul that was stolen leaning on that amp.
  6. Willie and Ray’s seven Spanish angels. I’ve buried a few friends to that one.
  7. It is nice, you would have eventually regretted letting it go.
  8. Interesting. It states it has orange capacitors instead of the period correct bumblebee’s? The 61 was still being marketed as a Les Paul, and shared some components with the earlier Burst’s. Hell, my 61 had Les Paul printed on the truss rod plate. I believe the SG designation happened a few years later. I heard Les Paul bitched about using his name on what he believed to be an inferior product.
  9. My first thought was “I wonder what Leo Kottke could do with that”?
  10. Rogers is a I'm the smartest man in the room type of guy. And in truth, he very well may be most of the time. The problem is he ain’t always the smartest guy in the room. And that simple lack of self awareness makes him....well....an asshole.
  11. If I ever win the lottery that is exactly what I want.
  12. Oh, I’m sure that made a difference. I just never could get into the guitar. I have a friend who still gives me shit, and believes I just had a shitty one.
  13. Years ago I had a 61 with the sideways vibrola. I really don’t remember it being neck heavy? I do remember it being really, really light compared to everything else I had at the time.
  14. Son of a bitch. I’m over 65 and I have never thought to add a dab of garlic salt to butter and bread. What a great fucking idea! For my generation of military dependents B&B was more of a snack simply because where we were stationed.
  15. The story goes that Ralph Waldo Emerson asked Thoreau why he would give up all of the trappings of his success to retreat to what was still at the time the American frontier in Waldon Pond. Thoreau responded by saying he wanted to live deliberately. It was there he wrote his opus in Civil Disobedience. Never underestimate the power of solitude, and critical thought.
  16. Oh, I gotta rep that. I love crazy car mod’s.
  17. And they pulled the poker chip. Which was sacrilegious.
  18. So, a gold top, a classic and a as good as science will allow R. That is the trifecta, a fine collection.
  19. Som of a bitch that is a great looking Les Paul.
  20. Unless you have received training, the speed and quickness of a 100lb dog attacking would quickly overwhelm you. Remember, it ain’t just his mouth. Those claws can tear open flesh pretty easy. Throw in multiple bite wounds that would cause shock. And you have a major fucking problem.
