  1. Fuck it, I’d bought it too. Well done.
  2. I don’t disagree with that. I was simply pointing out that as good as it is I couldn’t live on it alone. It is good shit, that finds a lot of emotions in people. I just have to take it in moderation.
  3. Like em, got all their shit. But, to me there has always been a dark undertone to their arrangements. Maybe it is because I remember Jimmy’s love for the occult, and the subsequent bad luck that seemed to follow the band. Whatever it is, I pick it up even in their softer songs like over the hills or tangerine. There was always something brewing just below the surface. And honestly, who do you really think ended up with the MSG cash?
  4. I’m not sure an option, but I would have had to hold on to a couple of songs. Though I know it is a shit ton of money.
  5. I salute all you guys. Enjoy what you like. But, If gin was the only act in town, I would stop drinking.
  6. I’m of the opinion that the fact he didn’t seem to ever have a wingman during these freaky liaisons. He knew what he was doing was fucked up.
  7. If there is ever an apocalypse, there are some guys on this thread that wil still eat pretty damn well.
  8. What is the most important thing in comedy?....timing..
  9. Heavens no. Dogs are a big part of my family. I know this because I have two fully grown Golden’s that think they own my house.
  10. Damn, how did I forget Zappa. I would like to add Overnight Sensation (dynamo hum), Uncle Meat, and 200 motels.
  11. Yeah, those are great examples. Ray Davies was really ahead of his time. And was pretty damn good with a Tele. And Dave was simply bad ass.
  12. Hell, I had to Google the damn thing. I had forgotten about a few of these. Tommy, Petsounds, 2112 even Sgt Pepper. All good concept albums.
  13. Same situation prompted my question. Had a friend of the nephews that brought two out to the ranch. When I asked how big was the hassle to get the stamp he showed me what he had to do, which is pretty much the same gymnastics as purchasing a suppressor. The difference is what you pointed out....the cost. I was told $8500 for a stamped steel MAC11 (which we shot). And a M16-A4.....ready for this....$25k. So at the end of the day it ain’t whether or not I can legally buy it, it is the fact I simply can’t afford it. Even if I had $25k laying around there are other things needed at Scooters place. I was just curious if others had taken such a financial leap just to have one at the house.
  14. You know how I know you never assembled an engine?
  15. Anyone else have their tax stamp for a fully auto weapon?
  16. That is hard core right there. Most street guys would love to shoot it but don’t have the brass. Well done.
  17. Correct @southaustin. The place is visually magnificent. But living there ain’t like visiting. We all have a different tolerance for tough environment, Seattle will test that tolerance.
  18. Oh shit, did I get it wrong? I thought it was Beck, but if it isn’t it explains the Tele.
  19. Man I love sharing those stories. Next time I’m in Austin we got to get a beer, and a bourbon, on me..
  20. No shit!!!, we were stationed there too, (lived in Times Beach) around 65/66? I believe that entire area is condemned now. Something about a carcinogen in the soil, you know the soil we played in as kids.
  21. I never could groove it either. I bought Blow by Blow and Wired when they were released and both were sort of flat to me. And I never went back to that well. It was like John McLaughlin Mahavishnu light without Jean-Luc Ponty and Jan Hammer.
  22. Awesome. I have printed hundreds of shots from a similar 4x5 negative. My old man was a CID agent that pulled dual duty as the crime lab guy (I have no idea what his MOS was). Taught me how to use both a Leica and Speedgrahic while we were there. I’m going to guess it was a good duty station for him, as all I seem to remember is a bunch of undercover CID agents sitting around drinking, whoring, and enjoying the sun. I don’t remember if I ever saw my dad in uniform while we were there. The fun didn’t last however. Our next station was Kegnew Station. If you don’t know it, Google that fucker. Man we ended up in some shit holes.
  23. No shit? We were stationed at Fort Buchanan in 54/55. Used to love fucking around El Moro as a kid. Lived a driver nine iron from the beach.
