  1. A market inefficiency for the portal and recruiting has been that many schools are treating RB like they're an NFL org, yet the issues at RB aren't the same between CFB and the NFL. Who gives a shit if a guy can only take so many bullets? That's an NFL problem. Is that being addressed now by schools starting to go really big on RBs? Seems likely. Only so many schools can commit major money to QB, RB, WR, depth, and retention. The main market inefficiency exploitable at the moment is just having one of the biggest chip stacks. Corporate NIL is the other, I guess. This helps Texas at QB, where the corporate NIL side is pretty substantial. If Texas lands Lacy or Baugh, to go with Cooper and retaining Wisner (we'll see on Wisner), they're flaunting their largesse for this cycle. That could be a $2M+ room. No, "we" don't think that's true because of anything $9.95ers are saying. I think it's true because it has been fucking true. Handwringing over two positions that are being handled in both recruiting and the portal to address personnel mistakes and then decrying that as an example of retention issues is bizarre. "We" should be concerned about the mistakes that got Texas to the spot of being thin at LB in the first place, not blaming retention now. It's a byproduct of the stupidity of taking just 1-2 LBs in every cycle. At RB, I'm still somewhat fascinated that some posters here continue to worry over it. They'll have 5-7 guys in the RB room and multiple guys in the room will be high impact players for the 2026 season.
  2. Missouri sure as hell pays on the NIL side, both for recruits and transfers. WTF?
  3. True, but this is true of every fanbase and many of them are way, way dumber than ours. Also, you guys don't always have to take the bait en masse. Assume a stupid take will get pummeled into submission and there's no need to add your own thoughts and reading it feels less like an epidemic. BTW, all of this talk about the talent in the WR room and not a one of you fuckers has deigned to mention the bastard child of Alan Jackson. You guys are slipping and you should all be ashamed.
  4. Sounds like a number of players are starting to realize that there aren't greener pastures for them elsewhere in which they can get paid gobs of money while not being WR1 or TE1 or OG1 talent (yet). We'll all wait and see, and I'm sure a number of guys are still heading out, but the count so far has been less than expected. It's been assumed that some groups will be throwing crazy money around in the portal and maybe that's not happening (yet).
  5. With the way you have been working Nebraska’s cock and swallowing their gravy all season long, I just assumed it was you that posted it over there. I haven’t seen someone fellate a rival athletic program like that since … you used to do it for Nebraska football in the late 90’s.
  6. Even worse? Kyle Flood denies the Holocaust.
  7. Well, it’s still early, so you can give it a little time. Not until reading this thread and this story did it even occur to me that “smear the queer” involved a slur. We certainly didn’t think of the guy with the ball as a gay dude when we played it.
  8. Can we permaban the next poster who brings up Jimmy Lake?
  9. Explain to the rest of us how you're viewing Vasek as "depth". I don't mean selling us on potential, because that shit doesn't pay the rent. How is this dude "depth" from your perspective? If Texas wants to add actual depth at Edge that has a history of production and, you know, being able to play in most games, they very well can sell their rotation to quality targets in the portal. The notion that they can't is flatly debunked by the reality that they have already done it. I'm not saying that anything is certain until someone actually gets in the motherfucker, but if Vasek has a 6 figure ask, I wouldn't blame Texas for encouraging him to go find it and then bringing in someone else in his stead. If the dude is free? Sure, keep him and get another guy anyway if you're worried about "depth". Texas will likely have 40+ guys on its roster from last season (2025) on there next season (2026), plus transfers and true freshmen. That's plenty of depth that isn't just "starters or true freshmen". Some of you guys are handwringing like middle managers who might have to fire someone for the first time.
  10. To be clear, when I say things like this, it is me passing stuff along from either folks involved or folks who cannot say what a random idiot on Surly is saying without them catching all kinds of shit for it and potentially even losing access. The "Flood plays favorites" stuff is coming from multiple places and now reaching that of a dim roar as far as these kinds of things go.
  11. Everything relayed about Neto fits quite nicely into the "someone doesn't like this guy" bucket. I have never heard that he just couldn't block or play the position. It's all been "he gets in fights and will cost us penalties in key moments" and "he could miss an assignment at the wrong time and get Manning killed". I never heard "boy, Stroh took out 3 players on his own offense on one play with his abject ineptitude" but we all then watched him do that. I still find myself actually snickering to myself when I think about the practice photo of some DL just tossing Stroh head over heels or sideways like a ragdoll and then one of you fuckers coming onto the thread (wish I could remember which thread and reread that shit) and saying something to the effect of "boy, hope that's not a regular thing with Stroh if he might be starting against Ohio State". Fucking dude was sadly prophetic.
  12. You actually made me think about this for a second. No one can choke on virtually every single snap for multiple games in a row. The sad reality is that he must have sucked in practice the way he did in games, but Flood really thought he was a neat fella and worked him into the lineup anyway.
  13. Did anyone watch Underwood this season and see the #1 QB recruit material for which he was hyped? He seemed okay. No doubt he will get better, but I didn't see a wizard on the field.
  14. I have no interest in dignifying your incel whining with a meaningful response. Negged.
  15. Alford was at OSU and then went turncoat. They were pissed that he left, especially to Michigan. I don’t know what the industry thinks of the guy, but he seems to churn out productive backs who then get drafted. Someone can wiki him and verify or debunk that. I’d take him right now over Drayton, the Rutgers person, or the bagman at LSU.
  16. He actually discusses women’s sports in an intelligent manner, something you’re incapable of regarding any subject. Get fucked bringing your shrieking about the playoff into this thread too. Do it further and the whole group participating on this thread should start negbombing you.
  17. I'm in and paid. I feel like I've won some money in this at some point before. It's fun to follow, regardless.
  18. Texas isn't paying recruits before they're on campus. A lot of schools aren't doing that. LSU and Florida are doing that, sure. USC, sure. Don't paint every school with the same brush.
  19. Yeah, Frank Wilson and their NIL group paying recruits not to decommit. Those two things. You can pick the order of importance for your own liking, I suppose.
  20. I haven't heard anything about it in a while, but Terry's family was supposedly moving into a house in Austin and the dude is getting paid extremely well and will keep getting paid that way based on how the program feels about the guy. Is it a publicly traded company? If so, can you provide the symbol? Asking for arbitrage purposes.
  21. Texas was not outbid for Fasusi. The guy didn't want to come to Texas. He thought Norman was a cooler place to be. Hell, for all we know, he was right for his interests. It's not like he's not playing up there. He was named freshman AA, but he had a terrible fucking season. Every game I watched, the guy was getting blown up and committing what seemed like multiple penalties. I'm sure he'll improve significantly because the talent is there - should he want to work to improve. In any event, the premise that Texas was tight on its NIL efforts with Fasusi is false. That was a recruiting win for Bedenbaugh and Venables.
  22. Doubling down is a choice. You were even given a nice out by cmontexas and you didn’t take it. I’m not clicking links to stories written for link bait. No serious FBS program is offering a 10 year old a fucking scholarship. I can’t even believe this is a discussion. Have you ever spoken to a football scout or college coach? Hell , even a HS staffer? No one gives a shit about a kid’s talent until they’ve hit puberty. That’s a basic component to all of it. It’s the minimum table stakes.
  23. Maybe watch some games played by other teams. Also, that second paragraph tells everyone on this board paying any attention to the sport itself that you are a fucking dunce. Also also, this adds to the dunce factor you’re emanating to the rest of us. We don’t need a motherfucking retread who quite quit on the job the last time around. Son of a fucking bitch. No one has argued any of that or anything close. This is childish hyperbole that is neither funny or moving any part of the discussion along. This isn’t orangebloods, guy.
  24. Development is a part of a quality coach’s makeup? No shit? I was responding directly to the premise espoused by Atticus and becoming more of a common trope by the day that recruiting no longer matters, it’s just about NIL. I wasn’t providing an overall pov on position coaching skill requirements. Seemed pretty fucking obvious to anyone not locked into either the hot take about NIL or someone trying to make a dumb fucking argument against logic and the rest of the board that Tashard Choice sucked as a coach at Texas.
