  1. The crazy thing to me is that Elko is perfectly qualified to land an in-state DT. He’s better qualified than Baker. Sanders choosing ATM would cause another meltdown, but that’s due almost solely to entitlement. The guys over there are posting as if landing Sanders is a given and that I’m an asshole for insinuating that there’s an alternative option for him.
  2. Is this post voluminous? A little. Is it loaded with banality? No. Good breakdown.
  3. They’d probably like me more if I posted as “closetopumping”.
  4. We like eight AM when we visit. Didn’t get a chance to go there on our most recent trip earlier this month as we had to spend most of the time in the metropolis of Modesto. The last day, though, I wound up sitting in the small park across from eight AM while letting my boys run off steam and my wife and youngest daughter were off buying stuff. SF never lacks for interesting contrasts. Sat there watching people come and go and enjoy brunch at a great brunch place as my children wrestled in the grass while a homeless guy 30 feet to my right dug a half eaten watermelon out of the trash, carried it over to the bench next to me and proceeded to scarf it down. He then tossed the rind on the bench, burped loudly, and wandered off singing something unrecognizable. I found it all somewhat amusing and absurd.
  5. In a bizarre twist on OTF, I’ve run into some random handles that are questioning whether or not my handle there is an imposter. I don’t even know what in the hell to make of it.
  6. That isn’t how it works anymore, man. Good grief.
  7. Who are you typing about and what are your sources?
  8. Glasscock got an offer for more money and more power. Sarkisian told him "good luck". After that, Sarkisian didn't exactly scour the earth for the best man/woman possible. Then, he promotes an immature yes man to do what he's told in a key role. He also hired an unknown at DL coach and didn't allow the guy to cast a wide net. A lot of that is hubris from a guy feeling good about himself and what's he's building. It's a management trap that many of us have fallen into, and the only ways out involve the ability to listen to wise counsel and be very introspective. I think Sarkisian has both of those abilities. Can he recognize the issues and get a grip on them? I don't know. It may take a rake-stepping asswhipping of a 15th ranked class when they should have been top 3-5 to fix it. Texas being Texas, they may still wind up with an imbalanced but highly ranked class, around 5-6. Will that still spur the belief in the need for change? I don't know those answers. I do know that the past few weeks have led to negative feedback about certain elements, making its way out to people involved with helping things along from the outside. Maybe that is indicative, hopefully, of changes coming. Whether the changes needed involve hiring an exec, demoting or firing, and at what roles, I don't know. In a new era of unlimited coaches, one thing they should absolutely be doing is looking to hire someone who is an absolute badass at recruiting and unemployed because they suck at coaching. Give them an assistant TB coach or ST coach title and get their ass to work.
  9. No one is “changing the market”. What are you dums dums working yourself into a frenzy over? Oregon has done what Oregon can always do. Ohio State hasn’t won anyone over some NIL preference. They straight up beat Texas for several guys that Texas seemed to either not really be on in the first place or got outhustled by as time passed. Georgia? They’re the big dog in recruiting due to on-field performance and getting guys into the NFL. That is always a dogfight. If you of the idiotic notion that Texas just needs to big dick the market by going double x what others are offering, for WRs, no less, we all saw how that worked out already. The sense of entitlement and indignant from people on the boards right now who have done nothing and know nothing is at all time high. Keep pounding the table with both fists until y’all get what you want though. I’ve already addressed what is actually turbofucking this cycle for us. Until Sarkisian and Banks wake up or Brandon Harris gets super smart and competent, it doesn’t matter what kind of NIL stockpile Texas is sitting on currently.
  10. It saddens me that you can be this dumb and also a doctor. The LSU moderators have come out and openly admitted that they can’t compete with Texas in NIL. If a player picks LSU, it isn’t for better NIL.
  11. Let’s take the Brooks recruitment in a microcosm. Texas knew going in that Georgia was all over the guy and led. They chose to recruit him anyway. It was known it was an NIL recruitment and Texas sorted its side in that regard. They then full court press the guy. Brooks is allegedly responsive and people in his camp imply that Texas leads. That is the most recent outlook. Flood is one of the only guys allowed to handle his own business and he still brought Choice in on the recruitment as well as Sarkisian. So why are they going to lose him? I do not know that they will. This isn’t a money thing. Georgia isn’t beating Texas on this recruitment over a little money. If this recruitment goes against Texas during an interim period when nothing really happened, how were communications handled between the Texas staff and the Brooks camp and how did someone else elsewhere make that happen? The handholding before an announcement is always important. Why in the fuck is that part suddenly going sideways? If that isn’t going sideways, and Texas just isn’t the favorite in these recruitments where the Texas staff thinks that they’ve got the deal done, who is fucking that up? So, in a recruitment like Brooks’, there’s no geographical issue, no production issue, no precondition with the family, no NIL gap, and then Texas comes out of the OVs leading, they should close on him. If they don’t, something is weird somewhere. As far as I know right now, Texas leads for Brooks, btw.
  12. Don’t assume anything. Less conjecture is better from your end. There are too many idiots going full aggie and taking random speculation on here and elsewhere as a true narrative and it’s not helping anything. Just live with your fears and hope bullshit gets sorted in our favor.
  13. This is reductive nonsense and to be ignored outside of the missing Glasscock part. Texas didn’t lose Rogers or Petitjohn to bidding wars. Same for Charles and Brown, for Christ’s sake. They have fucked up focus and effort and they have been out worked and misapplied energy to high risk targets without backup plans. That’s recruiting fuckuppery 101.
  14. Banks and Sarkisian are basically trying to run the entire show when it comes to recruiting, to the point of limiting access for position coaches with their position targets. Sounds really fucking weird. Harris has provided consistently dated and/or clueless intel from the recruits’ camp side and is just basically an order taker otherwise. Texas lost a talented scout that they haven’t replaced and they lost a talented roster management/personnel guy that they arrogantly decided to not really replace by instead promoting an unqualified yes man. This predicament is entirely of Sarkisian’s making. He’s going to have to fix it soon as there is more bad news looming.
  15. Just scrolled 4 pages of this mockery of a thread. Have avoided what I am sure will be 3-4 brutal phone conversations when I return those calls. Just can’t hear any more about the state of incompetence and bizarre shit coming from Belmont right now. You people are making me healthy. I think I’m going to go play MLB 2024 for a while until my wife makes me rejoin adulthood, hopefully with a Manhattan she’s made, this evening.
  16. Just spitballing here but I would bet Gerry would lean slightly towards Texas but wouldn’t be shocked by anything.
  17. My pick is Texas because the mom wants Texas. She’s not heavy handed though. I plan to be entertained nonetheless.
  18. I was just in San Fran and surrounding areas for 5 days visiting family with my wife and younger kids. We hang out near the wharf area and venture out from there. Because my oldest daughter lives near there, the little ones have all been to the area many times. On Tuesday, one of them says “Daddy, people always say mean things about San Francisco but it is a wonderful, beautiful place. “ I then drove them through the Tenderloin area and got stuck at numerous lights. I looked in the rear view and saw four whitefaced little kids. Like most places, whether Eugene or Austin or San Fran, perspective matters more than anything.
  19. I’ve been transparent on NIL in ways that actually involve risk. I also played a fundamental role in creating the very blueprint in which the NIL world functions. Like, proveably. So spare me your admonishments or advice. A 5 star WR goes above mid 6’s. Absolute absurdity would be $1.5M plus. Beyond that, no one can assuage current roster players or other recruits. That’s true for Oregon, Texas or anyone else. If Texas loses this player, it isn’t because of NIL. It’s not because of a mom wanting Texas or family wanting Texas or anything else in our inherent favor. It’s because a player is 17 years old and thinks they are going to make a difference in Eugene. When I throw a dog a bone, I don’t need to hear how it tastes, you fucking mutt. Your premise is fucked, as is your approach, and you can be as well. Negged again, stumblefuck.
  20. Texas has met the ask. That’s not an issue here barring absolute insanity.
  21. The 8pm part is pretty annoying. If things go according to plan, I’ll be borderline incoherent at the country club by well earlier than 8pm today, wandering about and expressing disdain for the tardiness of the fireworks, the lack of quality milfs to ogle, accusing chestnuts of being lazy, etc. Who the hell is going to have time to figure out this guy’s decision during all of that?
  22. I love it when aggies talk about Texas being overrated. The media and Vegas have whiffed on aggie win totals each of the last 3 seasons, several of those by a lot. Them being picked to go 8-4 this year looks like more of the same. It’s as if no one has actually looked at what they’re bringing back and given it a critical thought.
