  1. CDC actively seeks counsel from outside of the UT circle of influence from trusted and independent subject matter experts. Someone would have to be very good friends with one of those types to know much when an actual search is being conducted. Plenty of people would be excited about Bakich. Thanks for the update on the Clemson end.
  2. @Doc Sam Beckett any chance Clemson folks are chirping about Bakich packing his bags?
  3. You should totally call Jim Rome with that and read it verbatim.
  4. You’ve been a constant nuisance since you started posting with this new handle. Post count smack is as weak as your general presence here.
  5. This is whiny self-talk about the media meanies and message board posters not liking Texas properly. Go look at the commentary around the Texas home loss to Ohio State in 2006 after winning the title in 2005. Ohio State got a ton of credit even though everyone reasonably acknowledged the significant losses for Texas coming off the title. This post makes no fucking sense. It’s just thread vomit.
  6. You're whining. There's no need to do so. The world isn't always aligned against Texas. If Texas goes in and beats Michigan, Texas will get its due. If Michigan wins and its close, it's not going to be some terrible item on the resume. If Texas gets beaten badly, somehow, then Texas will deservedly get run over publicly.
  7. Thanks for the write-up. I've been to New Orleans many times and Charleston only twice. The comps are fair, but I do think they each have cool and unique elements unto their own, making both worth regular visits. As to the implication that the rednecks aren't as voluminous in Charleston as one might expect, I have some thoughts. We road-tripped last summer and it took us through Charleston and then through Savannah along the way. Charleston is more expensive and nicer than Savannah. Savannah is where the rednecks and a generally lower socioeconomic class of traveler is spending their time. It was stark in comparison. We left Savannah after a few days saying that we'd checked that box, we left Charleston after a few days on our way to Savannah saying "man, I wish had scheduled a few extra days there".
  8. I would be fine if this concept turned into how people look back at things down the line because it sounds good and provides a simple way of seeing things, but that isn't what happened. Texas, like much of the NCAA, didn't grasp the consequences of Alston by even a little bit. They were completely shocked by what happened when Pandora's Box was opened. It's worked out, though.
  9. That dude is 20 years older than Mike Elko and looks like a spring chicken compared to The Elk. Hell, he looks younger than David Pierce, for that matter.
  10. It’s pathetic, but I can’t help myself from being entertained when it comes to their thoughts on the notion of Texas fitting in (or not) and the ramifications for that. It’s all based on their own insecurity about fitting in, which whittles at both their institutional core and their individual cores. “They won’t fit in, so they’ll leave in five years.” ”The SEC has no idea what they’ve gotten themselves into!” ”Yeah, well how about the way they handled entering the league?!?” Who on earth gives a shit about things like this other than those guys? It hit me today that ATM reminds of Ike Clanton in Tombstone. It’s actually uncanny.
  11. Vogel expounded more on the Kelshaun Johnson recruitment this morning: "Next is 2025 Hitchcock wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson. Of course, one of the larger surprises this weekend was the speedster receiving crystal ball predictions in favor of the Aggies. However, I am here to share the same sentiment. I have been told the Aggies did a great job this weekend and are considered the leaders. Of course, Johnson had an opportunity earlier this cycle to join the Texas class and opted not to. Texas has since moved into great positions for three of the country's top wide receivers and just pushed up the date on Tanook Hines' official visit to this past weekend as well. The writing is on the wall for me in this recrutiment." So they really did go the Nate Kibble route with him - need you to take the offer now or we can't hold it if other things come to light for other targets. Hines is lightning fast as well, plus they're feeling good about Ffrench, Lockett and Moore. I'm guessing they don't really think they're getting both Lockett and Ffrench. This weekend, Texas has Moore, Marsh, Johnson, and McCutcheon set to visit. Seems unlikely that all 4 visit. After that, Ffrench and Lockett both visit the same following weekend. Hines gave ASU a silent commitment in April on his visit. He was part of a tandem expected to go public and give ASU some splash in our area but they never did it. I'm wondering if Hines committed this weekend. If he goes public, Johnson likely doesn't make the visit. Not sure what to make of McCutcheon or Marsh as anything other than backburner options.
  12. Watching the Balcones guy, who is either David Pierce or a close relative, stan for him and grind out against Bakich is both predictable and humorous.
  13. CDC’s role gets really overstated regarding the football hire. Money and Eltife were running that one and CDC was in the side buggy. That considered, I don’t think there is an analog for the football hire and it’s to be ignored. What happened, however, is that talks started with Meyer and carried on for awhile. Herman viewed it all as bullshit until one of his assistants sat the guy down and told him it was real. He was stunned. He nevertheless wasn’t fired until the day they announced the Sarkisian hire, if memory serves. Meyer had nothing to do with it.
  14. You’re always out in front of us, stanco, and the best we can do is scratch and claw to keep up.
  15. A friend of mine reminded me that Elko is 46. That is a brutal 46.
  16. What in the fuck is going on here? Just put the spider idiot on ignore like everyone else and move on.
  17. Listen, guy, Neugebauer is the Smith of the Deutschland.
  18. Tell us more about your summertime tv watching habits. That shit is riveting.
  19. This is the biggest weekend of the year so far in terms of OVs and this thread barely registers a peep. Regarding Zion Williams and Brown, while LSU certainly thinks they’ve made their move, anyone thinking that Sarkisian isn’t going to take those recruitments personally hasn’t been paying attention.
  20. While I'd love for these stories to all be true, I find them all very unbelievable. Why would a Florida fan, at a lunch meeting, start a comparison of the way ATM and Texas joined the conference? Who thinks like that besides an aggie? Has anyone on this board ever gotten involved with a conversation about how either team "joined" the SEC with anyone else? I can't be the only person that finds that "topic" as banal and bizarre as part of any kind of conversation with another human.
  21. So there is word that the aggies haven't lived up to their promises with Schlossnagle on a number of fronts - facilities and NIL being two of them. Anyone got a fact check on that in some form? I know people have been overrating the aggie baseball NIL for certain, but they did pay up for the Stanford transfer. Not sure how much carry the NIL end has, but maybe there's something to it. There are two schools of thought - CDC has his man already or there is serious interest in the big names that have been mentioned on this board, specifically Vitello and Bakich. I guess both things can be true. Or, hell, maybe Pierce gets another go and we can all get fucked. I met and played a round of golf with Boddicker awhile back. I am terrible at golf, like never played until adulthood and have never had a lesson terrible, and it was nice to have a peer in our foursome out there with me. Anyway, the guy was a lot of fun and seems like a great guy. We asked him how he felt about being the archetype tall white villain at Texas that opponents love to hate. He thought it was funny and said that his approach to the game, plus the backing of his coaches and mentors, led to a fun 10 year career in Europe. @SquishMitten
