Yeah,  how the fuck is the marine still employed.  That OL is hot garbage.  The best part is aggy has convinced themselves they will contend this year bc of Jimbo.  Clemson and Bama are going to butt fuck them and aggy will put up a banner in celebration.

I don't go over to their boards, for better or worse. I keep seeing various folks reference that the aggies believe they are "going to contend" this year. Is this real on their forums? Like do they really see the light coming towards them as daylight? Because it looks like a train from where I am sitting. That depth chart up above is sad. Just flat out sad.

No way Carter stays.  The guy wants to play immediately and bitches when he doesn’t.  Texassports lists Watson as a grad transfer rather than a senior but he has one year to play correct?  Kirk Johnson is listed as a junior but I don’t think anyone including the coaches are counting on him.  Kyle Porter may grad transfer out like someone mentioned since he’s buried in the depth chart.  Tristan Houston should be playing at Texas state.  There is a real possibility that we have Young and Ingram next year with no one else worth shit.  We absolutely need to take 2 decent backs this year.  I’d put bets on Brown and a guy like the LA rb... hollins I think? Unless LSU implodes, don’t see Cain going anywhere else.  His dad lives in Baton Rouge.

His dad lives in New Orleans, I thought. His dad isn't the only influence in his life, either.

If I had to pick today, I'd say Cain goes to LSU. But I don't have to pick today, and neither do you. The guy has maintained that he's going to carry this up towards the second signing day, has he not? There's a shit ton to happen between now and then, including an entire season of football. If Texas had written him off and wanted two backs, they'd have two backs committed by now.

Maybe, Devin will learn to run better routes and Collin will learn to play hard instead of looking at himself in the mirror. What I am saying is that if Herman had real depth last year, Devin and Collin would have been sat until they improved while better players saw the field. Then after Collin became tougher and Devin learned better route running, they would see the field and we would be a better team for it.

You have some of the worst instincts as a poster that I've ever seen. When you think about taking a position, think again and do the opposite. Go full Costanza.

Sounds like we're going to need an LSU meltdown. Which Coach O is more than capable of supplying, but still.

I think the dude’s just been quiet this summer, so gurus then assume it’s all over but the crying and texifornias of the world tumble over the cliff behind them.

The recruiting of Cain will last into winter.

Kelly's article in the tweet is pretty good. Jones is so close to being a high impact player. He puts him self in position to make plays but just doesn't make them. Needs to take the next step. I remember IT or TFB putting out a really similar writeup on him towards the end of last season as well.

I feel like he has the ball skills of an amputee. I hope some sort of switch comes on for him this year, though.

Fucking cheating shitbags. So they've already started the clock with the NCAA. Solid work. Craig is a fucking bagman and so is Peveto. Bad guys here to do bad things. I wonder if ol'bizzle will drop by to accuse me of being crazier than a shithouse rat again because I dared to opine that these fucks were cheating as though the rules simply didn't apply in BCS.

Haven't some players gotten into college because they're special ed, thus getting around clearinghouse eligibility requirements? That's probably how

Yeah, for sure. Casey Hampton didn't have a prayer of getting into Texas until he received an accommodation to take the SAT either orally or un-timed. He had a true learning disability but a normal IQ. The guy I'm referencing allegedly has an IQ around 75 and is basically non-functioning in the classroom.

My daughter is in Teach for America and chose "location of highest need" thinking they'd send her to inner city Chicago or Los Angeles or something. Nope. They dropped her right into rural Mississippi. You have to pass a state reading exam in 3rd grade there in order to pass to 4th. They stop socially promoting at that grade. Her first year, she had 85 kids for whom she was responsible. The parents and teachers basically just don't give a shit. She had a 13 year old in her class, multiple 12 year olds and like 20 11 year old kids. Not one accommodation out of 85 kids. When she was done filing the paperwork at the state and fed levels, 27 kids qualified and almost every one of them passed to 4th grade. Sometimes, someone just has to give a shit. Sometimes, though, someone is just borderline retarded.

Yeah, I don't really like them either. Everyone is talking about their game against LSU, but nobody is talking about their game at Toledo. Toledo is quietly a solid team, and the Glass Bowl should be packed. They got lucky in their conference schedule because they only have one tough road game (Virginia Tech). They'll probably go 10-2 or 9-3, as is tradition for a Mark Richt-coached team.

I think LSU might actually beat Miami in week one, but that just may be me creating anxiety.

Overall, the ACC is a steaming pile of shit this year. It's Clemson, and then a whole bunch of nothing. Boston College? GTFO. North Carolina/NCSU/GaTech/Wake/Duke are all a bucket of meh or worse. Pitt/Syracuse/Virginia are hot garbage. Va Tech is fine as a top 25-35 team. Same for Louisville. That leaves Miami, FSU, and Clemson. FSU is a wild card. Miami will finish the season unranked. Clemson probably lives up to its billing as a CFP team, and the whole conference is basically basking in that glow.

he’ll need to improve quite a bit to be a first round pick.

I'm not disagreeing here, but I'm curious who you or anyone else thinks are the top DBs in CFB this season? Greedy Williams at LSU is an easy pick. After that, maybe the Miami safety. Maybe. And then it's anyone's potluck. I definitely could see Boyd emerging as a guy taken in the middle rounds with a strong season and combine. I don't think I thought that would happen watching him even as a sophomore. If only he wasn't prone to boneheadery.

There's more. Probably more like five strikes. He'll fit right in at learning slow university.

I have never heard it confirmed, but in the early days of this cycle, one of the guys from DFW not named Brooks was rumored to pretty much just straight up special ed. If true, how does that recruit get into college, outside of Chris Vaughn level academic fraud? Whatever the reason, Texas also stayed the fuck away from that guy as well.

I don't see any news stories on him when I google his name but I suppose that does not mean a lot these days

Well, there aren’t any news stories on him, yet. There’s a multitude of reasons why Texas has zero interest. He’s even scared off the aggies. One of the key reasons is that he might be a little rapey. Another might be that he’s got a handler with the worst kind of behavior.

Fuck State Pen. Stay away from the GodPaCult

I think a home and home with Pitt would be fun. Not as the main non-conference game on the schedule, but like we play Maryland this year. It would be especially fun if Shawn Watson is still coaching there when we play. Pittsburgh is an extremely underrated city. I've loved it every time I've visited. I have a soft spot, probably, from playing in a World Series there when I was kid, but I've been back plenty for business and it's a great place to visit.

With all the stuff going on around the country, I don’t see how a school would take a chance with him.

It is fucking insane, with this kind of shit happening at Baton Rouge on damn near the reg these days, that they're taking Marcel Brooks. Or, well, fuck, maybe it's the most logical thing about Reverend Edgart Beauchamp Orgeron, MD's circus of a program.

Because it's easier to move a high school tackle to a college guard, rather than a high school guard to a college tackle. You don't find many 6'5" guards in high school

You're non sequituring a false choice into this dialogue. No one is interested in converting high school guards into college tackles. Like, that has literally never been mentioned on this board. Go watch Coker, though, and then walk me through how he projects to guard.

The logic for finding HS tackles that project to guard is fine, but that isn't Coker. It's also not what we should be looking at for Johnson or Shepard. They're tackles in college. Some recruitniks and most "gurus" want to take every fucking tackle ever covered in HS and turn all of them into college guards. It's stunning to me that any school is able to field two tackles on Saturdays when the whistle blows.

    Where would you have them?

I'd have them gargling your balls, frankly.

They've got the most overhyped QB in the history of the sport preemptively considered a Heisman frontrunner after one half of football. They've got largely unproven talent at WR. The secondary doesn't have a proven standout. LB is paper thin and the DL, while talented, has shit to prove. They have to replace 8 of their top 11 tacklers. They have tremendous coaching, a stable of excellent backs, a very strong OL and deep talent. They also have a fucking joke of a schedule. So yeah, I'm sure they make the CFB again, but they better win every game. In reading and listening to the people paid to cover the game, the SEC/ACC scheduling is under scrutiny like never before. They're not going to get the same credit as they have in the past for playing the charmin soft fluff that they're playing this season.

Honestly, the two teams overhyped more than any other on the list are Auburn and Miami. Miami is average and rode a turnover wave to a 10 win season. Auburn isn't a consistent juggernaut (they lost 4 last year, and were 8-5, 7-6, 8-5 in the 3 years prior), yet they're referenced these days as though they are. They need to rebuild almost the entire OL, which was mediocre in the first place (I'm ignoring Herb Hand concerns subliminally outside of this post), they need to replace an outstanding TB, their schedule is extremely difficult, they need to replace an AA placekicker, and they lose 3 of their top 6 tacklers. Every year, some top preseason top 10 team finishes the year unranked (shout to Mack Brown in 2010 and Bilbo Aggins in 2017), and my bets are on both of these teams to finish unranked.

He’s arguably the best NFL Nose Tackle prospect in the Patterson years.   They’ve had tons of good edge guys and scrappy interior guys but few true war daddies.   Big testament to them being able to find guys who fit what they want to do and coaching them up.

Losing him alters their defense completely this season. Fat Patty was trying to go away from being small up the middle, and yet here he is again, fat, sweaty gunt and all.

From the outside looking in, to me it makes sense to take another tackle, particularly one who isn't a project. Moore, Jones, and Shepherd are all projects imo, and adding another tackle to pair with Tyler Johnson as guys who can play sooner makes sense to me. Plus, I like the idea of hoarding tackles, similar to how I like the idea of hoarding corners.

But if there's not much talk of adding a tackle from the staff, then I can't argue with that.

Taking two tackles in every class is hoarding tackles. They're doing that. Might they find some sort of can't miss hidden gem? Sure. Coker isn't that guy. They apparently really like Cosmi, Jones, and Moore. They plan to redshirt the latter two and that's how you build wealth on the OL in CFB. I suspect they'll take the same approach with Johnson and Shepard.

Arkansas is on our schedule, assuming they don’t move it back yet again

Am I crazy or is Arkansas pussing out on us the reason we played Sam Houston State one year, which is the only time in our history in which we've played a FCS school? Fan and booster feedback for that FCS game was so negative that Texas said it would never do that again.
