  1. 1) If you’re going to feebly attempt to reply, have the spine to quote me. 2) Your first paragraph reads like performance art, but you’re a low IQ individual, so it can’t be that. Still, I’m impressed that you were able to say something offensive about a man and women in the same sentence. 3) You seem like you’re too dumb to understand this, but I’m in a charitable spirit so I’ll try to explain my prior post about Seven Win Steve. I was being self -deprecating. The opposite of patting myself on the back. 4) You are one of best examples of the Dunning Kruger effect to have ever posted on an Internet forum. You don’t know jack shit about virtually anything, ever, and yet you post your obvious stupidity with the absolute, naive certainty of a teenager.
  2. I rarely encounter him and it’s not been worth the effort. I assume he’s a Cloak Room slob of some sort, since he apparently posts plenty but I don’t see many of them. Almost like he’s on ignore anyway, I guess. I find it regrettable that I like this name and may steal it from you.
  3. Exactly. I wasn’t talking to you, dummy. I was talking at you, politely telling you to run along because the adults are having a discussion. Reggie Wilson is a mediocre name for the thread and has already been addressed multiple times.
  4. I understand Gerry’s position of being from Missouri as it pertains to Texas taking basketball seriously. That’s a legitimate position. That said, there are multiple reasons why Texas will take basketball very seriously with the right hire. It needs to be someone who energizes everyone - the admin, the fans and the money, as Beard was doing. The admin needs and wants men’s basketball to be top ten like every other sport besides women’s soccer. It’s a money sport. It’s high visibility and impacts the school’s brand. The money guys want to back a winner. They spared nothing for Beard. They’re not going to let a couple million dollars be the gap that prevents title contention. Know-nothings will now point to the Toppin “recruitment” as evidence otherwise. I’m too bored with that canard to do anything but be dismissive. The fans were coming when Beard was at Texas. They show up for WBB. They’ll show up for a men’s program that isn’t boring generally and just putrid, at times, to watch. Again, I don’t think the ceiling is $4.5M if there is a “right guy” that Del Conte hones in on. CDC will vet a candidate with a couple of the guys if he thinks they have a real insight to offer. Sarkisian doesn’t really ever seek non-peer or mentor counsel when it comes to staff. We can all think what we want about Ivey’s NBA coaching prospects, but he’s made it known he’d be very interested in the Texas coaching job. I do agree with everyone who says he fails to check key hiring boxes for CDC.
  5. Indiana is one of only a few states I’ve not visited, which doesn’t bother me. My little brother played in a world series tournament for 2 weeks in Lafayette once. When he came home, I asked him what Indiana was like. “Dude, it’s nothing in every direction for as far as you can see. “ Okay, then.
  6. I’m right there with you. One thing I enjoy each cycle is seeing weird visit lists. This is the weirdest one I’ve seen so far.
  7. The guy is a young hustler. He paid his way through the first part of his college while playing football. He was homeless for part of high school, in fucking Compton. He’s spent his last few years grinding as a talent and recruiting analyst which is low pay, long hours thankless shit. An added hand holder in the RB room and with recruits on Gameday and visit days seems worthwhile.
  8. Oliver Luck wanted Texas to recruit Luck. Texas did not and Harbaugh was aggressive with him, including violating NCAA rules in the process of doing it. Texas didn’t recruit Luck because Gale Gilbert raped Mack Brown and Greg Davis’ confidence in landing his son if they signed a star in the class ahead of him.
  9. I could see that working, but geez, that’s ridiculously early for a guy with Blue’s flaws. I’ve seen sentiments from folks on Twitter that compare Worthy’s speed and what they think Blue will do at the combine. I get the psychology of needing analogs and then lazily putting two speedsters from the same school together. That naturally draws the second guy higher in peoples’ minds at that point. To me, Blue is flawed in ways that Worthy wasn’t at their respective positions. I’d be happy for the guy, though. Having another guy light up the 40 and then being used in cool ways by one of the better league offenses would be a big deal for the continued growth of Texas football as an “it” program again.
  10. I was in a meeting to plan through NIL development and growth after Sarkisian’s second season. I called Sarkisian “Seven Win Steve” and it was like a record screeching to a halt. Six faces just staring back at me. I’ve had it thrown back in my face by a few of them multiple times over the last two seasons. These folks apparently take their coaching access and relationships pretty, pretty seriously.
  11. Sonny Davis (I think that was his last name?) is another sad one. Multiple DL recruits in the Mack Brown era found ways to die young. It’s pretty fucking weird. It’s so hard-wired into my brain that he went to GBall that I had to look it up after you posted this. Absurd
  12. Not recruiting Andrew Luck because GG early committed. Awesome. Recruiting Russell Shepherd as an ATH only - super smart.
  13. Garrett Gilbert was a consensus 5 star recruit whose family demanded that he not have to compete with a 4 star or better ahead of or behind him in recruiting classes. He fucking sucked at Texas. Sucked out loud. Then he left in ignominy to the hinterlands of college football to play for a pass happy June Jones. He put up enough stats for someone to take a flyer on him as a 3rd stringer in the NFL for a few years. Be mealymouthed about the definition of a bust all you want, but however you wind up softly getting there, Garrett Gilbert can be labeled as such. The guy was a fucking bust at Texas. Claiming otherwise is fantasyland shit you should keep to yourself. What in the fuck is going on here?
  14. I think Broussard went to GBall. Oh please. It’s more like Texas got fucked by Gale Gilbert, against its will, just like so many alleged females on Gale Gilbert’s NFL back-up QB journeys. Forcing pussy Mack to avoid recruiting QB talent before and after Gilbert’s class was fucking bullshit and an immediate tell to where that story was headed. Speak for yourself. Some of us didn’t like the Herman hire from the beginning and said as much. We were confirmed in our negative view when he brought one of the worst assistant staffs ever assembled at UT with him. It’s only the steaming pile of shit that Chuckles crafted that saves Herman from having the worst modern staff in UT history.
  15. I don’t know numbers on a lot of things until later and for reasons that aren’t worth going into. What I do hear, sometimes for necessity and sometimes just because of the nature of the beast, is where Texas sits with someone and what is going on in their recruitment. In this situation, the word is that Texas is in good shape and thinks it can win out. That usually means that barring something ridiculous, Texas has a package put together and will win because of that and the brand of the school and the program itself. Chavez will get zero corporate NIL at some of the other options. She’ll get real corporate NIL at Texas. That can offset something dumb from elsewhere. As things sit now, Tech isn’t rumored to be doing anything absurd. Campbell’s wife is a huge softball patron in part because she played there. She didn’t play basketball too.
  16. Texas is going to have to make choices this cycle, similar to the other past few cycles but probably with even more highly rated guys.
  17. Fuck canceling the spring game. It’s pussy bullshit to do so. Just fucking dumb.
  18. Rufus Brown was a higher ranked 4 star in the late 90's out of El Paso. He signed with FSU and Bowden with Mack Brown, early in his tenure, finishing second. He started for years on the FSU late-Bowden top 5 teams. Jones was never a 5 star.
  19. I’ve tried, and I cannot fathom what this is actually attempting to say. It’s kind of fascinating.
  20. Marco Martin was more highly rated than Dibbles, if memory serves. He was a really big bust, given that he turned out to be a child molester (or alleged? don't know, didn't follow things after he left) and never played a snap at Texas.
  21. Or Markesha Houston, as fat fuck Eric Bienemy was fond of calling him.
  22. Buck Burnette was a middling 3 star Mac McWhorter Special and you're still hung up about his flameout? That's Theatre of the Absurd level shit. The big one for me is Shea Morenz. I was ecstatic that Texas signed one of the best players in the country and told anyone who would listen about it. Whoops. That predates my time on the Internet by a few years, but it's easily the biggest one I can think of for this exercise. I wonder if any of the Garrett Gilbert apologists/Lake Travis honks will add him to the list. He doesn't make mine because I was calling him a likely bust from the time he committed forward, much to the dismay of the $9.95 boards Chorus of Fates back on Shaggy.
  23. I'm always baffled by the complaints about more CFB games being played. It used to be bitching about "meaningless" bowl games. Now it's about hypercompetitive play-in scenarios to make the playoffs, which will be larger unto itself as well. Bizarre shit.
