  1. They are scanning tickets at the fair entrance. Never seen this before. It is an absolute shitshow and trampling risk has felt real by the DART tracks. Ridiculous.
  2. They just spent a segment on Gameday railing on the faking of injuries. That damned sure came from on high and you can almost guarantee it is numbers driven. Guys like Rece Davis and Saban being as direct and specific around calling it cheating, dirty, unethical, etc., is not common for any subject. I’m neverminding the complete hypocrisy of Saban whining about cheating and ethics for this issue, largely because he’s right and also because it suits my POV as a fan.
  3. God willing, I feel like this exact kind of nonsense will be flooding this board in a few weeks.
  4. I think this plus discretionary large fines for the coaches will end it pretty fucking quickly. We’ll see how fucking smart and cute Lane Kiffin is after getting a $250k fine dropped on his ass. It’s flat out cheating and it takes away from the fun of watching the game. I’m guessing the media rights entities are letting the SEC hear it and that shit is starting to roll down hill quickly. Hence Ole Miss having to say something.
  5. Jeff Sims insures that Arizona State has no chance of winning this game if Leavitt can’t go. He’s one of the worst FBS QBs in the last 15 years.
  6. He was a 5 star. So, incorrect there. What is not relevant to your comment? You were attempting to imply that Owens must actually have discovered something and be okay because he’s on an NFL roster and that chips away at the prior poster’s comparison. If you want to get pedantic on this it just insults the discussion. No one disputed your statement of fact, but I damn sure disputed the point you were trying to make. This new guy might be awesome or he might wind up a Tyler Owens. That was a fair point. Driving by and inserting that Owens is on an NFL roster after having a busted career in college. which is, you know, the concern of this board, isn’t actually relevant.
  7. He was also a massive five star bust. Quick, name your favorite Tyler Owens play from college ...
  8. "Back to the Bone!!" was the battle cry to the media in the preseason kits and interviews. They couldn't stop talking about it on the Austin sports radio channels. I laughed every time it came up. They'd abandoned the return to the wishbone by Red River, but that offense was in complete disarray. I thought the good times were here to stay with what we were seeing with Mack Brown and the disaster that was the Blake era. Whoops. Speaking of, something has got to be done about Sam Pittman. Every time I see that guy on tv, I cringe and feel the need to look away. Do they not pills or something to help this guy out?
  9. I've only been once, in 2021. I will be there this time as well, hosted by Arky in-laws. Feeling good about it.
  10. I feel like the venn diagram between sauce guys and gravy guys is something trending towards a perfect circle. @RomaVicta This: “If you're a slob sporting a suit adorned by a button missile with the safety off, you better bring the yuks. Elko knows his audience. They're the ones who struggle with Blue Collar comedy.” I legit lol’ed at that. Just outstanding.
  11. I thought that's what I did? Should I have thrown in calling him "Turkish" for good measure?
  12. Iowa fucking blows. They had multiple pick opportunities against Howard and failed on most of them. He was trying to give them the ball. They're slow on the edges and Higgins is more than a smidge overrated. On top of all of that, Ferentz is a bitch on the sidelines. He chooses to punt and duck more than any coach in the country. Multiple decisions to punt on 4th and 1 around the 50 while facing a significantly better opponent. You have to take chances there. I'm guessing the HC being spineless isn't a part of any models, but that can certainly determine outcomes. What game has Dan Lanning won in which the opponent had comparable talent or better? I believe that answer is "none". Why do people think anything should change now? I expect Ohio State to beat Oregon's ass. Conversely, everyone is expecting Penn State to roll Lincoln Riley's USC because now the OL is a mess in Los Angeles. Penn State under James Franklin has been pretty good at beating the teams they're supposed to beat and shitting themselves against the big boys. Franklin is 13-25 against top 25 opponents at PSU. He's brutally terrible against top 10 teams - 3-17. I know USC isn't ranked, but they've got the talent to be there. If they put it together at home and score early, how does PSU handle playing from behind and 3 time zones away? I think this one could be an upset.
  13. Liberty's pathetic schedule: -Campbell (FCS) -@New Mexico State -UTEP -East Carolina -@App State (cancelled) -FIU -@Kennesaw State -Jacksonville State -Middle Tennessee -@UMass -Western Kentucky -@Sam Houston State These pussies scheduled an FCS school, went out of their way to avoid scheduling a P4 school, and play 3 other schools that were very recently FCS teams (SHSU, Kenn State, Jax State). Last year, they had a similar schedule. They campaigned for inclusion in the NY6 bowls and they got it, without having beaten a team with a pulse. Oregon killed them 45-6 in the biggest snoozer of a bowl game of the year. They weren't competitive for any moment in the game. They're starting to push for inclusion in the CFP. Childers was heralding them as a force this morning on Full Ride. Conference USA is the worst conference in the country, and by a wide margin. Reject these gutless impostors and tell them to enjoy the Bahamas Bowl and fuck off otherwise. Or let them be the 12th seed if Texas is seeded at 5. Thanks.
  14. This is why I said concerns about formatting should be kept to yourself. This is an irritating and unnecessary post that is also unintentionally ironic. You're admonishing my posting approach while calling me "holier-than-thou" in a condescending manner simply because my post wasn't to your liking. Ridiculous. I know how to post in plain text. I often also incorporate bold formatting for key sections when I post. Sometimes, I don't have the time or inclination, and I really don't care if that impacts dozens of luddites or corner cases affected by such matters. In short, when I throw a dog a bone, I don't need to hear how it tastes. I'm not getting paid to post, much less for taking the time to copy paid subscriber content from elsewhere and post it here for others to consume.
  15. Some injury related stuff from SI covering Venables this week as well: -Anthony won't be back for weeks. He had another scope done to "clean some stuff up". They tried to rush him back and it cost him and them. -Farooq and Burks won't be playing this week unless they pretty much force them to do so. "We'll see how those two do in a few days." -Farooq gets out of a walking boot this week. This is after surgery after the Temple game. What they don't tell you is that Farooq was recommended surgery after a similar injury in the spring, but due to pressure from the staff, he passed on it. The reinjury in the Temple game shouldn't be a surprise. -Burks' injury has not been disclosed formally. It's believed to be a "soft tissue injury in the lower body". If you believe that, did he pull a groin, calf, quad or hammy? It could easily be an ankle or knee thing, IMO. Burks isn't ready to go but they're pushing him to play this weekend. -They pushed Anderson back before he was ready, then he suffered further injury. Notice a trend? Remember any of this from the past? Notice who is running the program and who is running the S&C? Anyway, I assume we'll see some truth tomorrow night since the SEC requires it of them.
  16. A handler wants to get paid irrespective of what else gets paid to the player. I am hoping Texas waves this one away.
  17. Spoilered below is a great breakdown of where OU sits nationally and within the SEC in myriad stats, some advanced and some standard (from Sooners Illustrated). The net-net is that OU sucks, and here they suck in about every way measurable. They have solid sack and TO numbers, but even those are buoyed by either outlier performances or really terrible teams. If the turnover margin is -2 or better for Texas, this is likely a spread cover trending towards blowout. I think I'm going to do a mudhole since this thread and others are starting to show some true pussyrubbing from the community. As such, I'll tie some of this in and give other thoughts around things like the invincibility of Hawkins and how much meth Venables smokes before witnessing at his local Church of Christ or coaching on Saturdays. Anyways, enjoy, and I didn't convert to plain text since the bold formatting helps and, if you don't like that, keep that shit to yourself: Also, one of the film nerds should contribute to the community and show some clips from the Auburn game identifying how Hawkins is currently a one-read-and-go guy, because that's what he is. I wonder how different the Texas defensive approach in this game is going to be compared to the Bama game last year? Young mobile QB not used to reading defenses, OL that can be managed towards domination, no truly scary skill position threats, etc. Feels like some similarities are there for UT.
  18. No offense or anything, but your school claims like 15 fake titles. The idea that they wouldn't claim one that is actually legitimate while claiming shit from the 1910s and 20s is comical.
  19. Most of them are socks. They say and do shit that you can’t find Texas fans doing anywhere else, on or offline. I saw a guy the other poo-pooing the RRS atmosphere compared to other SEC experiences. Other guys talking about Sarkisian being unstable and assuming 3 or more losses left due to the SEC grind. Not only is the site full of the simplest dumbasses in sports, their socks are shitty and unfunny too.
  20. Anybody know the degree of the injury he incurred on the last catch late in the game? Hoping it’s nothing.
  21. You’re a tough crowd of one. I look forward to his stuff each week. I thought it was good. Jesus. Friends of mine who have gotten to look behind the curtain of Georgia over the years say that there is a foul odor starting to reek from the inside there. These are people that like the staff (not Bobo) and have sung their praises over time. They know their shit. My theory is that once NIL and the portal started leveling the playing field, Georgia broke away from established criteria when evaluating the upper tier of recruits and started taking character problems. They’ve taken guys over the last 3+ years that others, who also had the pick of the litter, punted on. Other folks don’t fully agree or disagree and say that that position is somewhat self-serving. So be it. Fun to believe though.
  22. It was a poorly constructed model in earlier days of that kind of digital community. The notion was a central site, BC, with satellite sites leveraging the same tech and “management guidance” with content specific for various niches (fanbases or recruiting). Sounds okay, right? Problem from there is that Dunlevie decided to cut only himself and Scipio in on the ownership structure and he didn’t raise any money. He didn’t do that in a corrupt manner. It was known early and wasn’t worth a fight for those also contributing. I was starting my own thing and tapped out when we got serious about needing to write content to kick off. Came back to longhorn netdom a year later when things were going well and wrote a lot over there for the fun of it. Others did there and elsewhere on the other sites. The problem is that the model required a lot of cajoling and haranguing from Dunlevie to get other people to keep producing timely content and they didn’t have skin in the game. So you had a lot of sites not producing for other schools, and a lot of pressure on folks who viewed it as a friendship lark. That leads to bringing in weaker and weaker writers who are taking stabs because they’re excited to be included. There was also an emerging frankenstein issue with traffic and ethics and monetary needs when success was emerging elsewhere that Dunlevie couldn’t really manage. So they exited and probably made a little dough and had an earnout to boot. They have too many holes on defense, lack the depth they’ve relied on to help soften that issue when it used to occur, and their offensive line is a mess. They’re losing somewhere else before having a chance to play in the title game.
