  1. When things were basically as heated as they are now, someone had Nick Saban paged at ABIA as a prank.
  2. Things are unfolding and developing. Occurrences are occurring, and dealings are taking place.
  3. It is Texas football, after all.
  4. This presser is going to be cringy
  5. Absolutely not. Herman may not be "the guy," but you don't replace him with another Charlie Strong, who would be a weight around your neck for the next 3-4 years and would cost tens of millions of dollars that we need to hire the RIGHT guy. We've fucked this up for long enough. Get the money, find the right guy (Urban), and hire him.
  6. My point was that we have to replace Herman now because recruits, fans, and donors will have too much of a negative backlash if we keep him. I think that backlash is based more on emotion than logic. We all want him gone, period, full stop, even if it costs millions of dollars and we don't know whether the new coach will be equally risky. If we can't get Urban, then it's hard to justify that reaction (from recruits/fans/donors) on logic alone. It's emotional. But the emotion has real consequences in recruiting, support, etc., so it ends up being a major force in the decision.
  7. Agreed. Logically, if we can't have Urban, it makes more sense to keep Herman for 1 more year than to pay all this money to take another risk on an unproven coach. It's at least possible that given a real off-season, Yurcich and Ash can make improvements. However, at this point, fans and donors are just too emotionally invested in replacing Herman. If he's here, support for the program will drop in a major way, and that affects everything -- giving, ticket sales, recruiting, etc. I think he has to go either way.
  8. It sounds like a lot of moving pieces. BMDs have a number they would pay. CUM has a number he would accept. Then CDC and Hartzell would both have to approve of replacing Herman with Meyer.
  9. This is what I'm thinking. CDC has no reason to comply with Tom's demands. Tom can't quit; he'd lose his buyout. So Tom is the coach until CDC is ready to fire him. In the meantime, CDC doesn't need to meet with Tom, answer his phone calls, or get drawn into drama. Tom can do his job until CDC has a replacement ready.
  10. I'm confused about why Herman not being able to inform the players would make Meyer wait...if that's what is being implied?
  11. Agreed, but when it comes to motivation and injuries, it can still be hard to separate the player's responsibility from the coach's responsibility. A good coach motivates players to do their best. Sometimes injuries just happen, but sometimes injuries are connected to S&C and the way practice is run. Caden is certainly responsible, but if we were to look "under the hood," as they say, we would probably find a lot of coaching issues as well.
  12. Also, our roster next year isn't terrible in terms of a starting point, especially on offense.
  13. Yep, I've had them disabled for years. I would understand if they were alerting me to people who went missing in my city, but some random message about someone hundreds of miles away is unnecessary.
  14. Eh, I guess. When 4 of your 6 conference games were within 3 points when the 4th quarter expired, I think you kick the FG.
  15. As long as he doesn't bring an ol' freak nasty.
  16. Orange slices and 5-7 seasons for the kids!
  17. After Urban, I don't care. I have better things to do with my Saturdays.
  18. Where are the surly realtors? Is Shelly house shopping this weekend or what?
  19. What a fucking Tom Herman special. Just classic.
  20. He throws picks half the time in these situations.
  21. Close call, but I don't see how you overturn it.
  22. Deja vu all over again. Get your shot glasses ready for OT, boys.
