  1. More money, that's why. Extra $150K. Just soaking the rich guy for more money.
  2. Growing up playing with my Dad, I retrieved his driver for him on average twice a round. He was always nice enough to rifle it 30 or 40 yards down the fairway so I could usually just lean out of the cart and snag it on the way. I was never much of a club thrower but I might have hammered a few tees into the ground like John Henry after a railroad spike.
  3. There is a great book I recently listened to. The Admirals by Walter Borneman. Focuses on the Five Star Admirals and their careers up to and including WWII. King was the right man for the job.
  4. It's a damned shame. I, too, hope it wasn't arson. @Paco was stationed at Tustin when it was MCAS Tustin. He has some great stories about that hangar.
  5. I've gotten the "this is the dems fault" comment a few times. I eventually settled on "you should look up the word "majority" in the dictionary."
  6. She's appeared in the "Stupid things wives do" thread so I felt compelled to tell her so that she would think twice in the future. She lives in fear of making that thread again so it helps me in the long run.
  7. For a bunch of assholes, this group kicks ass. As soon as I found out she was coming to us I told my wife (no pics) "Once we get her cleared by the vet I'll put her up on Surly and I'll bet she'll be in a good home in a couple of days". Surly proved me right.
  8. I wish I could rep this twice. Lot's of allergies over here for some reason.
  9. @irishtexan just picked her up to take her to her new forever home. We'll miss her, but I know she'll live her best life with his fam!
  10. I'm not worried in the least. July.
  11. She and Rocco are going to be best buds and she's going to be get all the love she needs from @irishtexan and his beautiful family. We'll miss her but this is the best outcome we could hope for!
  12. Surly comes through again! One of our own has invited her to join his lovely family! I'm not going to out his username but he can pipe in if he wants. I'm proud to be part of this community of assholes. We get to say goodbye to her tonight and tomorrow she goes to her new home. The women folk are already getting weepy about it.
  13. @immamac or whomever put the banner up, thank you!!!!
  14. She's ready now. We just got confirmation that she's parasite free and she's up to date on all shots. Just need the right person/people to take her home and give her the love she richly deserves. I've been working with her some and I think she's full yellow lab. She's young enough that with training I think she'd make a great hunting dog or just a wonderful family pet. She is so calm and she's pretty damned smart too. Frankly, I wish I could keep her. Exercise equipment? You mean storage appliances? Don't get me started.
  15. It can do a bunch. Tactical reconnaissance, delivery of supplies both humanitarian and military, supplemental air defense, etc. That's before even considering offensive combat operations.
  16. She's precious. If I didn't have 4 boxers already she'd be staying.
  17. Yellow lab mix or maybe pure. Female. Vet estimates she is about 3 months old. She was dumped in the county near a friend's place. She's heartworm negative and she just got all her needed shots today. Looking for a good home. Super sweet. Quiet so far in the 3 days we've had her. Haven't heard her bark once. Acts like a lab. Loves to chase a ball. She's 38 lbs but will most certainly get bigger. 50+ lbs probably. Crate trained. Very social but a bit shy considering her experience. Haven't tried her around my other dogs yet because they are big and rough so not sure how she is with other dogs but I doubt it's an issue at this point. PM if interested. No fees. We just want to find this sweet girl a good home.

  19. I, too, was there in similar seats. Only Shootout I've attended in person. We lost our shit when Stony came out of nowhere.
  20. At one of our hospital cafeterias back when I used to have to go in to work, we had a fry cook who made the best migas I've ever had and one of the keys was that he would slice up fresh corn tortillas and fry the strips for the migas as he was cooking the eggs and other fixins. No bagged tortilla strips for him! He left after about a year and I've been in mourning ever since.
