  1. Definitely a female, right?
  2. That about does her. Wraps her all up. Things seemed to have worked out pretty good for this thread. And it was a pretty good story, don't ya think? Made me laugh to beat the band. Parts of it, anyway.
  3. I think the idea is to, essentially, decriminalize petty crime for black folks. Shoplifting a cigarello, passing off a fake twenty, simple assault/fighting, weed, etc. because that is a better alternative, for the next 12 months while you get some time to fix this thing, then keeping the judgment in the hands of the cops who can't seem to stop themselves from shooting black people. Add to that, that any shooting of a black man for the foreseeable future, however justified or honest, will be viewed as murder because of all the noise of the dishonest/murder we've seen this year. There is just no value or positive gain for cops having lethal weapons right now (or maybe ever again? I don't know) because even if 1% of all shootings is a bad shooting, the visibility and the wattage is like the sun right now on any police shooting. We'll see.
  4. That is where it's headed. I think the nuance here is that there used to exist a space for "justified shooting" or whatever they call it down at the precinct, but we are getting to the point where there will need to be, at a minimum, a 12-month suspension of rank-and-file cops from carrying lethal weapons or something.
  5. It's like the stealing from Wal-mart model, just let them go and catch them on something else later? It's going to get to the point that shooting someone, however justified, is going to be in the back of a cops mind as a no-no. We'll see.
  6. Wow. That's so crazy.
  7. Have you guys heard that joke that BrisketTexan knows?
  8. I mentioned my private school did some extra hiring of teachers to make sure and have students have no more than a 5:1 student to teacher ratio and I thought that was an expensive lift, but my buddy was saying his, bigger/more expensive, private school paid $450k in plexiglass (he's on the Board) to prepare for the students coming back this week. Crazy.
  9. While we can disagree in the margins here where you choose to be, how can we say, "less than gracious" in describing me personally, I agree with you and I think anyone who has ever identified or aligned with what used to be more conservative, "Republican" values and politics (and even those who never have) as they were known in days of yore, would agree that the Republican Party is pretty rancid and disgusting right now and, O were it not so! If the Republican party was not as contemptible and broken, how much better that would be, especially as the prevailing party of today and when you consider that no less than 30% of Americans will support it in name. I don't know who or what DSA is or means.
  10. I agree. Nothing funny about the disastrous public education that the have-nots have gotten (or not gotten, we should say) due to poverty and institutional racism that leaves poor people overwhelmingly likely to be products of broken homes in poor districts where education is not emphasized. Very tone-deaf of those making fun of poor people with poor skills and/or dyslexics.
  11. Is this like an Aggy game thread where people are watching, but rooting against the players and then commenting on it and either gaining a lot of feel goods and lolz from the boneheaded stuff but also making themselves unnecessarily angry and resentful because just watching them exist makes you think of all the things you hate about them and disagree with? Schadenfreude can be healthy, I think, but this ain't that. This is like watching a large group of likeminded and opposite-minded-than-yourself people echo-chamber and get artificially high off emotions. I would think this would be horrid to watch. But, by all means, keep posting the updates.
  12. Thanks for sharing; great video.
  13. This looks rad! Great job by the production guy/trailer folks, with the Nirvana too.
  14. Brother don't fall for it. He's a sick person and needs a sick persons prayer.
  15. I would challenge you to do some introspection and meditation on why, instead of being neutral or ambivalent, you seem to be harboring some sort of emotion (resentment or frustration) with Jesus Christ and Christians/Christianity.
  16. The music was something that took me a while to get used to when I came to Christ. I agree with folks that there is a lot (really a lot) of bad "Christian" music, in and out of the church, just as there is bad music across genres. That said, there is great music, which serves to worship and praise, that can be found if you look hard enough and/or are open-minded. Further a lot of mainstream artists have put out clean, Christian records, from George Jones to Lil Boosie and Kanye West and a myriad of talents and genres in between, during seasons where they felt moved to express their faith (or exploit Christians for dollars, a la Mariah Carey's Christmas album?), which I definitely appreciate. Lastly, and I know this is probably a controversial stance or opinion, but I would argue that there is a lot of sinful music in the world and culture that is a form of status quo for Americans and families who are not in the word or faith, and as a parent I do watch out for that and censor what people in my household can listen to-- from the mildly offensive to the obvious nastiness that most parents won't listen to or let their kids listen to whether they are Christian or not (e.g. Cardi B's WAP, most popular rap music, etc.).
  17. No. Your bit seems to be more of the wizened message board sage whose "gather 'round and let me unpack the human condition for you all, and tell you about RULE OF LAW and BASE ANIMAL INSTINCTS, a tale as old as time..." who is allegedly above the riotous and looting fray (though, understands it very deeply, you will have us know) and just wants to explain it, as a trusted advisor and expert on these matters, you see. I don't mean to gaslig-- oop. You're up, your turn on stage-- and I think by the looks of the sophisticated draw of a Monday night, your joke is gonna slay!
  18. I see Brisket is back, with his usual solipsism. I actually admire your conviction in the many, many attempts to tell your truth and story in as many different ways as possible, in the hopes that people just don't understand or get what you are trying to convey, but that what you are saying is necessary and right and poignant and needs to be heard...instead of the obvious reality that everyone hears you, considers (or, rather, considered months ago) your position, and then rejects it and then dismisses it. And then comes the confusion with the vanity of your repetition. It's like a comic who keeps telling the same joke, but nobody laughs, but the comic is convinced it's a really great joke. There is a beauty in it-- in the absurd. There is an artistic integrity in it, too. Keep telling your joke, Brisket. I'm here for it.
  19. Wulaw, you have to keep the fire going. It's a small, burning coal that is almost out, but keep blowing on it. You can get this conflagration raging again! Don't give up! if you want to PM me, I can throw some hotel points your way or something or book you a night in a nicer place. I'm a road warrior who has been more or less grounded since March and my usual trips (Disney/Florida, San Diego) with the family have been cancelled this year. I have a few airline miles/vouchers too if needed to get back to the RV I'm willing to donate, if you promise to keep up that can-do attitude and stay positive!
  20. Someone link it, sounds awesome and hilarious and ridiculous and stupid, like a B-movie or Airheads starring then-unknown Brendan Frasier
  21. Republican's should swap out the Elephant for the Troll guy face.
  22. It's tough, and we as parents are obviously doing our best and what we think is the best (that we can at least do, that is realistic) for our kids. So that's why if you are keeping your kids home, sending them to a private, sending them into a public school, whatever, it's not for us to judge. But at some point, if things don't change soon (e.g. vaccine, world back to normal, etc.) then I would not doubt we start seeing some privileged disparity...or probably better stated, a bigger gap in the privileged disparity, that might have some long-lasting effects. Just something we should all be thinking about as we enter into Fall and then Winter where nobody knows what Flu season will look like or if a 3rd wave is coming to shut down economies and schools and public living again.
