  1. Yep agree 1000%. I also find it a bit refreshing that DJT is so...unabashed. It's a more honest place-- he is being true to himself in that way and being super transparent about it as opposed to the faking it for lip-service/appearance. You are invited to hate him as he is or find common ground in your own self, with him, for better or worse. I think people love that frictionless approach to relationships. reminds me of the quote "When someone tells you who they are, believe them."
  2. He's kind of a damned if you do/damned if you don't. People are going to grip if he does go as not being worthy or it being fake, and they grip if he doesn't go as not human and kind.
  3. There is a political message? I just thought it was awesome.
  4. I saw a Bunk'ed episode once where the cheeky kids of Camp Kikiwaka got lost and ended up at Lubec Maine. That's all I got.
  5. What a time to be alive. I wear a ball cap 3x a week (even on Zoom work calls with the camera on at this point) so I get it.
  6. The world-- specifically the individuals, who inhabit the world-- is different. Community and Group/Team Health is broken. We are a conglomeration of individuals whose individual needs matter more than yours, so I'm not so sure the bolded above still follows. If it does, it's hanging on a thread and a couple more Instagram likes is going to drop it. We see countless examples of this change (cue the "FUPM" or "I got mines" memes) in ideals, values, behavior and ultimately policy. We have a President who could be trolled to pushing the big red button, I think. Not to be a fear monger, but nuclear war, civil war, catastrophic war, whatever-- all more probable and likely today and tomorrow than yesterday and the day before. Just follow the sociology and trends.
  7. I had forgotten all about this, but apparently there were Black Hebrew Israelites that were REALLY stoking the flames. I wonder why they didn't go after these guys harder? Maybe because they are known loons and not worth the attention: Earlier footage[clarification needed] that was released did not include the presence of a group of five Black Hebrew Israelites on the Plaza near the Reflecting Pond, part of a One West Camp offshoot believing in the "12 tribes" doctrine. They stood in a row "shouting scripture from red books" and taunting passers-by.[9][17][18][19] According to CNN's Sara Sidner they were "taunting ... people of all colors, other black visitors, natives, and a Catholic priest" shortly after the end of the Indigenous Peoples March, and before the students arrived on the scene.[22][20][35] As the students began to arrive to wait for their bus, the Black Hebrew Israelites began to shout insults directly at them.[10] According to witnesses and video subsequently appearing on social media, the Black Hebrew Israelite men shouted combative and racist slurs at the high school students as well as Native Americans.[10][22][23] They called the students "a bunch of incest babies", future "school shooters", and "dirty ass little crackers", and said "you give faggots rights".[22][24][25][36] Many students reacted by saying things such as "whoa" and "easy".[36] The Hebrew Israelites also called a passing black man who tried to disagree with them a "coon", told indigenous activists that the word Indian means "savage", and said to a woman who had stopped to argue with them: "Where's your husband? Bring your husband. Let me speak to him."[24][26]
  8. Yea, I guess this is a classic case of being legally right doesn't mean you aren't a weirdo in other parts of your life. I guess that's a good argument for the compartmentalization of justice?
  9. Gotcha. I thought we were doing something else here.
  10. But why? Why does he suck? Educate me please because, as a father to a couple of sons, I would love to get on board with you here. I hear you, but I just think it doesn't really matter in this case. Maybe you are looking at the entire forest and I'm just looking at the trees. That said, I have zero issue or beef with a guy, with means or without, doing 100% whatever he can to get on the public and formal record that he is NOT (at least formally, or technically as on the record) the monster that the social media cancel culture and media/news made him out to be. Those sorts of false accusations can taint candidacy in colleges, trades, jobs, internships, opportunities, etc. and can follow one around if not for the legal remedy. I think we can all agree this legal remedy comes from the richest man on earth, but you can argue that those who are guilty (social media outrage/mob) are being bailed out by Bezos here.
  11. I see your point. I agree it should be an obvious and neutral identifier. My wife used to comment that I had a habit of saying "the black lady or the asian man" or otherwise referencing someone's race when pointing out and specifying someone in a crowd, especially where there was only one "black lady" or "asian man" in a group. She said that is probably not very politically correct and I should use other descriptions, even if not the most efficient, e.g "the lady with the black hair and brown hat or the man with the black hair and yellow shirt", etc. for the benefit of our kids and their not seeing race as a differentiation in people. If the above is in anyway true and good and right, then I think "fat" also lives in that space in 2020.
  12. Not sure that your post here contradicts what I said about potentially the kid sees himself as an earnest victim (which is fueling his legal fires). In fact, I think it does more to validate it in the sense that he sees himself the righteous victim because of his political beliefs, which he has doubled down.
  13. Even pre-covid though, the trend of retail/clothing sales was so bad clothiers were dropping like flies. But yes, covid-19 might have been the tipping point of no return graphic shirts and gym shorts and flip flops is the uniform.
  14. I don't think I agree with the police work here, F250. I think calling people fat is pretty much not allowed. It's body shaming, if the media has taught me anything, and discriminatory and a micro-aggression and actually feeds into the patriarchal system which is built upon women (and increasingly men) being in shape or being of Hollywood/media standards and if they are fat they are worth less as a person (e.g.both in hard costs make less money, don't get the job, viewed as less valuable, etc and in soft costs, not appreciated or held to the same standards as pretty people). Also, I think that for women who would fight against misogyny and bodyshaming, they should be held to a better standard of allyship. There are many, many other real and valid reasons to criticize and even make fun if you have an itch to make hurtful comments online and want to scratch it, for someone like Sarah Huckabee. Be Better.
  15. You aren't wrong. But I also think it's a super stretch armstrong move to get from Point A to Point Z that you are making. Newspaper/Media jumps to conclusions and shames upper middle class white kid; gets hand slapped for being sensational and not really being factual/truthful in a climate when that is really important. That's it. That's the tweet.
  16. Exactly. And in the likely outcome that both sides acted foolishly and were complicit in ratcheting up the ante to life/death, then it's a horrible outcome because it was senseless. Even if the protester is 100% at fault, it's tragic, let me be clear. Because emotions/miscommunication and misinterpretation of ideas is what got us here. Just sad in general. I know it's the protesters right to hit the streets and act however they want, because they are typically on the right side of the issues and have that extra gear from fighting the good fight, but like with cyclists, they have to realize that most drivers don't care about them or their takes and just want to get to their Point B.
  17. Disagree. I thought Zootopia was better.
  18. Theses posts make sense-- I was just thinking "what is it about people that clothing stores can't stay in business?". Brooks Brothers and Lucky Brand Jeans filed for bankruptcy in July. Van Heusen and Izod Golf both shut down all their stores and fired 500 people. Jos A. Bank and Men's Warehouse shut down 500 stores in a pre-bankruptcy move. This is just July. And pre-covid-19 there Neiman Marcus and J Crew and many, many others. My question was, did we as a society just stop wearing clothes as much? Culturally we just don't need to look as put together 5x a week? Or is it that people had 2 pairs of pants and shorts they wear for 3-4 years and the same 3 or 4 golf shirts? Or was it that we had too many retail/clothing stores? I think the answer this page has given me is graphic t-shirts.
  19. Why is it greedy to find the water level that suits you? Why the vitriol?
  20. Wow, kid is going scorched earth. On one hand, you can't help but appreciate the piss and vinegar. Two things jump out at me regarding this strategy. 1) You don't really hold the grudge and make it your first life's mission to run down huge organizations and get justice unless you actually are not guilty (at least in your own mind) and view yourself as an earnest victim. 2) Once you start knocking down the first couple of settlements (and the bigger names like he's done) the rest is just critical mass and precedent, meaning settlements for the next 4 should be formality, right?
  21. I honestly don't know, I was just piggybacking on the prevailing wisdom of a few I saw post here where the most likely scenario was a miscommuncation/mistake in intentions that led to some high-strung/frisky reactions that led to some weapons aimed and shots fired. I may be out of the loop on the details and facts that have been discovered that contradict the above, I admit.
  22. You sound awfully definite and sure of yourself on something you are 600 degrees removed from and emotional about; so you probably shouldn't be "gauranteeing" anything, Jim. This whole thing was a disaster and black eye for everyone-- all sides-- glad it's finally put to bed and hopefully that kid can move on and everyone else already has.
  23. If some MAGA dotard is protesting masks or crying about getting a haircut in the median of a CVS or something and accidentally or mistankenly is shot because he is waving around a rifle, that's what I'm talking about.
  24. Play stupid games (open carry of a rifle, in emotionally/volatile situations); win stupid prizes. Goes for everyone.
