  1. Yang is awesome and right in that capital automation is better in that you can dispense with the soul killing apparatchik work and bring your whole person to work and be upskilled and a value-add to an organization in a commercial excellence model (while tacitly participating in cost-takeout). Or you get $1000 a month or whatever, if you have personal limitiations that don't allow for you to be a valuable contributor to an organization in 2028 or whenever this tipping point happens. Also, Pete rules because he used to be a consultant and we have to stick together so the strong can continue to treat us common folks poorly with a simple "pls fix" or "thx".
  2. I didn’t mean loser skilled but my phone autocorrects from lower skilled to that. It knows. AI is already sentient.
  3. That’s not accurate; automation decimates the high-headcount-lower-skill-repetitive and manual processes (pronounced Process-eeze through my Larchmont/Locust Valley Lockjaw for effect of course).
  4. Automation of business (not factories) is still so new that the data has yet to be really crystallized. I think in 5 years it will be alarming.

    Dallas | BBQ

I mean, Lockhart Smokehouse is better than current day Pecan Lodge. I used to go when it was at Farmer's Market as well and think Lockhart is consistently better than Pecan when it was there and first getting tons of acclaim and awards, both Bishop Arts and DT Plano. Sorry. Also Hutchins is fantastic. Do they still do all you can eat in Frisco? Had Cattleack for the first time about two months ago and it was good, but really greasy (even more so than Lockhart which is the greasiest of all) and the lines and parking make it not worth it compared to the above. Lastly, to the article posted above. I've been to the Sugarfire in STL downtown a few times and this is not a win for BBQ in DFW to get one. It's basically a StL-flavored Dickie's BBQ with more interesting flair and dining build outs.
  6. Where is the money (report), Lewbowski?
  7. Feels like the Holidays killed the momentum and political awareness of the average folk. Hoping it comes roaring back here in January
  8. How did you not leave? I got a raise, had a record W2 in 2019, will end up at 125% which, If I can repeat next year (no guarantee) is good enough to be a third of a million bucks. Oh and I’m 50% vested and have exercised already a good number. Plus own a good number of one of my better customers stock who IPO’ed in Q3. Looking forward to 2020 and hoping for some lucky breaks and looking forward to the stress and hard work (seriously).
  9. I can see it because having power and prestige can make anything easy I guess. The de facto COO of one of the MBB firms (not the one Pete worked for, to give indications) is out and nobody cares or thinks about it because he’s a powerful white guy with a ton of money and influence and ability and that becomes your defining feature. But all things being equal, you’d think it would hold more water than it has been in the tradition of making hay politically. I guess Power trumps all, again no pun intended.
  10. I think what I can agree on and pull from this response is that he was overwhelmingly privilaged, which made for an easier time with being queer maybe? And it also isn't his defining feature as a super sharp and able guy with an amazing background, etc...
  11. Agreed between Yang and Biden seem likely. If she's above Pete, watch out!
  12. His friends see Pete, an out gay man, as a cisgendered man. That isn't problematic? If his friends are extrapolated to the majority (I hope he just has horrible friends), then at best a large amount of people are ignoring a fundamental aspect of who Pete is and assuming his sexuality, at worst, they are calling him a liar and someone faking his queerness, by taking his sexual identity agency away from him and considering him straight.
  13. Which bar? Sounds like they should take the advice..
  14. I sure hope that 406 isn't saying because he isn't flamboyant or stereotypical to gay culture or whatever (which he probalby is to some degree in his private life) that he doesn't "present as gay". He is open with his husband and doesn't hide it in one bit, for better or worse depending on your perception.
  15. I agree, but brushing that aside do you think that not having a minority in the top 5 (heck, top 10) of the Dem primary, in the year 2020, is not problematic? Or are you of the mind, win at all cost and then make the changes a la a "Land and Expand" model? The most interesting aspect of identity politics to me is how little being a gay man matters in 2020. You'd think it would be a flag, no pun intended, to rally around for a lot of identity and politically aware, correct and woke people would get behind, but just being a gay man seems to be a nothing-burger if that is all you got going for you. I think that shows how much progress teh GLBT movement has made in America.
  16. Last time I went to Mardi Gras it was like a week after Brees and Saints just won Super Bowl and it felt like the Super Bowl partying bled into Mardi Gras for a complete bender. It was awesome. Posted above but went to Brennan’s in early December for dinner and was not impressed. Keep in mind though my idea of a good meal used to be drinking 14 potions at Dungeon bar and then ordering a steamer of Krystal Burgers.
  17. He still likes to opine and talk Cowboys though, you can tell he loves them still. Saw him at a luncheon speaker thing last year about real estate development and he told a 10 minute story about selling his biz to JLL and the. Spent 30 mins talking about Dak and football and Romo and his playing days in college.
  18. Surprisingly Cleveland is really cool downtown on 4th street and the river and the young/cool area near the stadium. I flew into DTW and drove in the ice and storm to Toledo the other week. Perrysburg or Maumee seemed okay. I was doing some consulting for a large agribusiness (a smaller ADM or Cargill), and spent a few weeks there. Some of the millennials I met said it was cool and up and coming with craft breweries and hipster-like cultures setting in... Avoid Tony Packos or whether the Hungarian hot dog place is; totally overrated.
  19. I only fly business class these days when I fly international and from my experience I’d rather fly American business class than BA business class. It’s just slightly nicer of a cubicle and the leg rest is better and feels more secluded. Just feels like on BA especially if you are in the aisle and not a window business class seat, I wake up every 90 minutes. I consistently leave LHR on American metal and wake up as we were over Charlotte or Florida or every time and it is always nice.
