  1. Why not? What would you consider musical genius to look like or consist of? Set out your parameters and definitions and allow me to make a case.
  2. Also...bear with me: The actor (and sometime musician) Jack Black is one of the most musically interesting people I've had the pleasure of following, randomly, throughout the years. He seems to have a weird innate, almost virtuoso, ability to understand and play with melodies. His-- I'm not even sure what to call it-- vocal improvisation and/or scat singing I think is a medium for which he can explore and lift melodies to higher orders. He's simply fantastic, and if he wasn't so fat and jocular, I think he'd be taken more seriously. If he was had a personality of like, Jack White (overrated and emo), we'd think he was a musical genius, but because he's a funny go, I think we don't do his musical talent justice. But then again, I think a lot of the beauty in his music comes from a place of exploration and the human act of "play" that only creative humans can do.
  3. "The other thing you're wrong about is that David Allan Coe is not a homophobic person. He had sex with men in prison. "Fuck Aneta Bryant" is a vulgar gay rights anthem and Nadine Hubbs does a great job of explaining this in the book Rednecks, Queers and Country Music." Well, I'll be.
  4. I see it now. Very boy-ish and young to be an old man, but I guess Pence has that innocent boy-like youth look to him
  5. Jimmy Buffet's music is so human. It's fun and whimsical at times, but it's dark and existential at others. Speaking of Jimmy Buffet, if David Allen Coe weren't so problematic, he'd be spoken of as one of the country legends and best to ever do it. He is surprisingly versatile. He definitely represents a "Hillbilly Elegy" culture which spans across the Appalachians to East Texas and includes all the antebellum South.
  6. It's a good start to the Biden Presidency for many Texans and should not hurt the chances to turn Texas Blue, but only help. Biden: "I am not banning Fracking". https://www.axios.com/joe-biden-fracking-not-banning-95ac7370-aa0e-47d9-98b2-fb9b3bc93bee.html
  7. I'm a 33A guy myself.
  8. Coming from a black man, this is so chef's kiss to my ears:
  9. The coffee is correct because it follows by most "raw" versus color, logically.
  10. I'm not sure how one can quantify (straw poll? some type of polling) or be sure of their stance, but it sure seems like each side has a strong case for their argument in the "BLM approves and likes the looting and rioting vs BLM does not like looting and rioting"

    Yes, roger that.

    Media Bias

Because most of the newsrooms only employ a handful of actual newspeople anymore, right? It's mostly AP and then editorials, and when I say editorials I mean the opinion/analysis.

I like The Atlantic too. Even Vanity Fair (seriously!) is better than the AP/mainstream newsies.
  14. Bought a pole saw for $100 at Home Depot during Ryobi days. Surprisingly sturdy and robust for a cheap chinese tool. Backed the truck up and stood in the truck bed and cut a lot of lower, overhanging limbs and it was awesome. If you've never cut down some limbs, you should definitely do it once. It's awesome and also pretty cool because it's a class in spatial and perspectives-- the limbs invariably fall a bit differently and definitely are a lot bigger when on the ground than you'd think, when they are in the air.

Okay, but also this came out in 2017, some things have changed I'm sure, but I'm a big fan of Mother Jones and The New Yorker which I consider more intellectually considered (therefore, reputable) than WaPo or NYT.

    Media Bias

Most mainstream/established news sources are broken and traitors to capital J "Journalism" as a discipline. I honestly like Mother Jones.
  17. You asked who Jeff Bezos will have to answer to or explain himself to, with respect to what appears by all accounts to be an extreme lack of charity and generosity, relational and proportional to his immense wealth. Depending on belief systems, that answer could be any number of flavors, but we can safely lump them into two categories: "His Creator", as I suggested or "No one ever", as you suggested.
  18. The big man upstairs.
  19. This is my exact thought/response to the "controversy".
  20. HA! Okay, you can make fun of me mercilessly now. I thought the Mike Pence caricature was supposed to be Barron as lurch!
  21. Who is Lurch? I deduced Barron, but I am one of the least versed when it comes to the Rogue's Gallery that is the Trump first family. I have no idea what Obama's daughters were doing or are doing, nor do I care, thus, you confuse me.
  22. Beliefs like this is where you lose most rational, normal, decent people, in my humble opinion.
  23. Let's see. I think you are wrong, but won't be mad at 'cha if you are right. Either way, I'm looking forward to a Biden presidency as someone who voted for Obama in '08
  24. Man, this sounds defeatist and is sad. It's hopelessness and resigned to some absolute truism you claim to know about the human condition. Look-- my belief is we are all vain people in need of humility, but I think you might need a little bit more than most. Come in from the ledge. Or as the Joker in TDK said, "Briskettexan, come down off the cross, we can use the wood, and come on up to the house."
