  1. "Darrell will do anything for you," said (Larry) Gatlin. "He drove me to rehab in December 1984 and saved my life." Good job, Coach.
  2. "I'll believe it when I see it, and I haven't seen it yet. Don't mind me, just keep on talkin', I'm just lookin' for my hat." --Charles Hardin Holley's bass player
  3. "And that's the way it is, Friday, March 6th, 1981." (Cronkite's sign-off on his final broadcast as CBS anchor.) Cool story, bro.
  4. Where's Walter Cronkite when you need him?
  5. I guess this is accurate. It was on his Twitter feed: @GSwaim I haven't advertised this, but 57 years after doctors in Columbus, Ohio told my parents that I probably wouldn't live to 20, they apparently were only off by 41-plus years. I'm going into hospice soon, but really don't know exactly how long I have...so will compete until the day I go home. I'm now on a ventilator 23-plus hours daily in bed (why I have so much time to post on social media and watch sports ), but very comfortable at this point and enjoying my family.
  6. Yeah, doesn't help that their model looks like he was shot at and missed, and shit at and hit.
  7. Should we, God forbid, root for them to win one no later than 2025?
  8. Go on, I've had enough, dump my blues down in the Gulf He loves you, big 'Horns, more than me --(Almost) Johnny Cash
  9. This board rags on ESPiN. A lot. And it’s mostly deserved. With this clown, however, the blame has to go to the idiots who watch him. The fact that he’s even being considered for the once-iconic College Gameday is terribly depressing. H. L. Mencken is generally credited with the comment, “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.” Substituting “TV viewers” for “American public” brings things into clear focus. I’m told that Mack a-Feet's Nielsen Ratings in B-CS and other trailer parks are through the roof. In areas with intelligence and taste, however, not so much.
  10. Amen, brother. Check out "Be Careful With A Fool" from Winter's second album. Originally recorded and released by B.B. King in 1957, Winter nails it in his '69 version. BTW, that wasn't Johnny in that picture; that was Edgar. Another BTW: Tommy Shannon, Stevie's great bass player, was with Johnny on the above recording. Killer good. Oh, were we talking about football??? Sorry . . .
  11. You’re gonna have to study your clichés. You’re gonna have to study them, you’re gonna have to know them. They’re your friends. Write this down: ‘We gotta play ‘’em one day at a time.’ ‘I’m just happy to be here; hope I can help the ball club.’ ‘I just want to give it my best shot and the Good Lord willing, things will work out.’
  12. And to think, I liked him on Mash, and now he's an asshole. How things do change . . .
  13. Yeah, it's a hell of a rivalry (Not): 58 games, 35-23-3, LSU; LSU won the only two bowl games, and 9 of the last 12 meetings. Fuckabuncha "national." Now, Texas-ou--that's a rivalry: 119 games, 63-51-5, Longhorns. And lest we forget, Texas-aggy: 76-37-5 Longhorns. And lest we forget again, aggy ran away from us, just like they ran away from the 2022 Gator Bowl. Now, they're saying, "Well, LSU's our real rival." Yeah, right. What a bunch of cowardly pussies.
  14. People say, "Believe half of what you see Son, and none of what you hear" --Marvin Gaye Well, guess what, Marvin? AI's here and now you can't even believe half of what you see (although it'd sure be cool if this was real).
  15. Hard on the heels of 4-16--that is, if they get there.
  16. "I washed it down with some snakebite remedy, which I always keep handy. Only, however, after first being bitten by a snake, which I also always keep handy." -- W. C. Fields
