  1. #8 Pokes are going to Ames as 7 point dogs. I would think that by this time in a season the rankings would somewhat be reflected in the lines out of Vegas but nope. Is it even an upset when there's that sort of discrepancy?
  2. You may not need any, it sounds like he likes you already.
  3. Mind boggling, that what I bolded is.
  4. Just needs more morgue shots, give it another try. Seriously though, I think education is going to have to play a large part in this epidemic, whether by the kids knowing someone who's OD'd or something less traumatic. All we had to worry about was paraquat.
  5. What's the closest comparison that hasn't worked? DWI wreck killing someone/alcohol education?
  6. These types of drugs are never going to be safe for recreational use. Not having the cartels compound the meds would be a positive step but the actual drugs, opioids, have legal ways of being acquired now. They're not available for giggles and I can't see that they ever would be.
  7. Similar I guess, accidental while filming. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandon_Lee#Death
  8. Maybe it was the lawyers idea. I don't know. Maybe they were in shock and thought that they were somehow still protecting him even though he was deceased. By all appearances though it seems they knew where to find his body.
  9. Maybe they found him with the car but chose to let someone else find him, then the water came up while he was out there post suicide and by the time they called popo he was hidden. They knew he was there but had to wait for the water to go down before they could "find" him.
  10. Yeah, I've long suspected that he called them pronto and was in communication with them as he made his way back to FL. I don't know what story he'd told them but it seems that they all went into action as soon as he got back so there had to be some advance planning. I mean, they needed time to dig the flowerbed bunker.
  11. Yeah, I don't know if it was just poor execution by the offense or the Pokes D was just the perfect counter to what Baylor was doing but despite getting 3 turnovers the Bears just couldn't score points. I do think that Bohanon has become more confident over the last couple of weeks, he's thrown a couple of really pretty deep balls and what I've seen from the OC has been encouraging in that it seems that every week the game plan has been tweaked to fit the opponent. One week RJ Sneed is the primary target, the next week it's a young guy, Estrada, then it's the TE Sims, then it's Thornton with the RB's getting a good share. While everything is being run out of a limited number of base formations there's a lot of wrinkles in what they're doing out of those formations. A lot of misdirection for a D to try and recognize quickly. OSU did that really, really well.
  12. "And lo, from Pampa will come a savior, with nard"
  13. The Pirate left his ship there. What's cooler than a pirate ship?? NOTHING!
  14. Local radio guy had Fran Fraschilla on after the media days, Fran was driving to Ames and he gave a short interview. Fran thinks that Tech may surprise by season's end. Also said that after touring the schools and watching some practices that Texas, KU and Baylor all look the same. Just solid teams, any one could win it all this year (talking about March Madness - little bit of fluffery there imo). Asked about the new conference members he said that Ken Pom had "run the numbers" and that the BXII will still be the #1 bball conference even after the shakeup, that BYU and Cinci will bring enough to the table and the competition will be just as strong. Radio host also had Matt Mayer on, he's a returning player for Baylor, and Matt shared his thoughts on the Bears who lost 4 key players after the championship run. Mayer says the 3 new freshmen are all NBA talent, just need to put in some work at the college level. Also is impressed with the Arizona transfer James Akinjo, very high bball IQ who can distribute the ball and score. He finished by saying that this team is not riding on last year's team accomplishments, that all of these guys dream of playing in the NBA and that means building their own legacy this year.
  15. Story I heard yesterday was that the "committee" that did the blind reviews is 2 people. He was given the exception. Then they pass that recommendation up to his boss, the AD, and AD was the one who shot it down. Basically they couldn't create an environment that would be safe if he were running around unvaxed so adios.
  16. yeah, this times 1 bazillion. I don't give a shit if the ships in drydock, fire fighting readiness is priority #1. How they got this far I'll never know but the fact that fleet command kept checking off on their lack of readiness is criminal. That's some serious PMS gundecking right there.
  17. I'm not so certain that Fedora was Aranda's guy. My gut is that his initial staff was cobbled together by committee so there was no pain or ego involved in letting the OC go. Grimes seems much more philosophically aligned with a defensive minded HC.
  18. The defense is definitely senior heavy, the offense I'm not so sure about but what with players having an extra Covid year I'm pretty sure some stuck around to play some more ball. It's the same guys more or less who went 2-7 last year in a season where they for the most part never even met the coach until it was time to put the pads on and they had no spring ball. Mostly Rhule's players but I think the systems that Rhule was gravitating towards and what Jeff Grimes are doing on offense are similar enough that there's a comfort level there. Last year with Fedora was just a fustercluck. Defense changed up from 4-3 to 3-4 and we're playing almost entirely man coverage so it's a stop the run game plan and take the chances on the big play. Seems like the big play isn't so much a thing as it was just a few years ago so for now the approach seems to be working.
  19. One thing I have seen this year under Aranda is week to week improvement. No offense to speak of against OSU and WVU and BYU both saw a difference there. Same with penalties. I think we had 10 or 11 in one game recently and Baylor had ZERO called vs BYU, first time in program history. Things are being addressed and actually corrected. They value possessions. Bohannon threw his 1st INT against BYU, 1st in 190 attempts going back to last year. Mistake free ball will win some games even with lesser talent.
  20. Would that plane by any chance be a 737 MAX? Thread redirect, hep me Jesus!
