  1. I'll probably hit up HEB (they should be open today), I'm thinking a salt and pepper shaker set. She was slinging hamburgers at a little joint her uncle owned in Leroy, TX when my dad, fresh back from that dustup with Germany, met her and the two soon eloped. They spend the next 62 years together and she cooked a lot of good meals but nothing beat those Saturday evening hamburgers just like she learned to cook working for Uncle Buddy. She died alone this past June, at a long term care facility during the height of the pandemic panic. RIP mom. Treat her right, Mr. T. Indeed.
  2. Got invited to go shoot some pictures for a friend who was doing a scouting report on a baseball player at a local high school. Challenging. Changing lighting, umpires and shit constantly getting in the way, changing locations kept fucking with my meterinig/settings. Had fun but it had a steep learning curve. Kid didn't do anything noteworthy in the game, he's leadoff hitter and plays shortstop.
  3. This rocket was no mistake, it's carrying a full load of COVID21.
  4. Dumb question amnesty time, Waco specific - is Atmos the only gas company in town? Trying to set up services on a home and haven't done this in 25 years or so.
  5. When talking to a TCU fan I try to work in "we thought you wuz a toad"
  6. @Lobo these folks would not look out of place in Waco or Florida.
  7. The situation I ran into was different, the company had a few employees laid off and those managers that lost employees were pissed that their people were the ones chosen. That was the start of it I was told later when I asked wtf. Things spiraled downward soon after. I think the fact that we were an outpost of a much larger corporate giant (GE) and lacked strong internal/local leadership probably had a lot to do with the way things deteriorated. it was an engineering driven biz and the ones that left all found better jobs elsewhere.
  8. I went to work in a place where they had been losing key personnel and it turned out to be an extremely toxic environment to work in. Hell, the manager that hired me left within a couple of months for greener pastures. I lasted a year and a half and bailed. There was zero trust, zero cooperation, just a complete shitshow to walk into. Best of luck to you.
  9. I don't expect either Brock or Messer to stay in Waco. It'd be great for the new gal if they did but I don't expect it. EDIT: Haha, was browsing the local news and ran across a typical poorly written story but it did have this gem - "Waco native and La Vega alum Juicy Landrum was on Baylor’s 2019 national championship team, she knows the impact Coach Mulkey made on this community. “Mulkey has brought so much to Waco so much to Baylor, like before her - what was it?” said Landrum." It was poop, Juicy. It was poop.
  10. Google says she's married with 3 kids. Spent some years following her husband around to coaching jobs (he's a bball coach too) and taking assistant jobs wherever he landed it looks like. Then WNBA? Wonder where the husband went during this phase or where he plays into her moving to Waco. Mulkey and her old man didn't last terribly long in Waco once she started wearing the pants.
  11. Didn't know Doom was Italian.
  12. With any luck the Big Drill Sergeant will have her doing pushups for eternity.
  13. Had 2nd Moderna shot on Friday around noon. Nothing until about 6:30 and started to notice some soreness in shoulder. Couple hours later couldn't sleep, seemed to be getting more sore. Took some Advil and within 2 hours soreness was gone. Been fine ever since. FUCK YOU COVID, KISS MY ASS.
  14. Yeah, last year was a beating for a lot of photographers. Portrait photographers really suffered. I'm a generalist but was hoping/planning to shoot a lot of events. Concerts, drag boat races, rodeo etc... None of it happened. Still not sure when things will really open up again. Most large events, at least locally, never got planned for this year out of COVID fears so basically another year lost. The only upside of it has been the fact that it's forced me to find things to shoot that I might not have otherwise considered. I've learned some good things doing that so it hasn't been a complete waste but I'm so ready for normal.
  15. Neighbors be fuckin' with you. That dribble-dribble-dribble noise gets old.
  16. A few more from the herparama. At first I thought I'd gotten there at feeding time and then I'm like oh shit, this lizard's killing one of his cell mates but nope - just dragged 'em up and teabagged him/her. Iguana pose for ya. Okay, take mah pitcher.
  17. I think Swayze might be right, google seems to confirm. It was at the zoo btw, in an exhibit. I thought it might have been Tip O'Neill reincarnated, still could be I guess.
  18. Saw a snek earlier today that I'd never seen before, thought maybe @Patricio Swayze could ID it.l
  19. Maybe look to San Diego? I didn't dig into the details but der Mayor thinks they have the problem on the run. https://www.hoover.org/research/how-san-diego-cleaned-its-act-and-got-real-homelessness
  20. oooo, I'll bet that's a game, worn jersey.
