  1. No.... Call options. It cuts into your potential gain but you are not staring down the barrel of potentially limitless loss. They expire but you can take the L and roll into ones with a later expiration date.
  2. Ha yeah I guess when you can get all of the brokerages to pull your bacon out of the fire you don't have to settle for anything less than the maximum possible gain.
  3. Wait a minute... Why not hedge the theoretically infinite potential downside with call options?
  4. Because it's that or watch your nest egg get eaten alive by inflation in a savings account that a bank pays you 0.000000000000002 percent interest on while they loan the balance out many times over at a much higher rate. There is no alternative!
  5. "Getting more conservative as you get older" = Getting a cheap education at UT that was heavily subsidized by the state and then telling younger people who have to take out loans to get that same education now that it isn't as heavily subsidized by the state to chug your balls.
  6. I love Perry Bible Fellowship so much.
  7. All I know is that the PR campaign unleashed by big money is working like gangbusters and small investors are being painted as villains here even through tons of the big boys are at the buffet as well. One of the hosts on The Ticket in Dallas was on there referring to this as a "ponzi scheme" this morning.
  8. This is how I handle most of my money as well but I recommend making a small fuck around account because it is a ton of fun and, with a little elbow grease, you can make money off of it. Are we going to beat the market long term with it? Nope, but it's fun to be able to pull some gains out and buy something frivolous every now and then.
  9. Had a limit order fill at open. Thanks dude
  10. I wish they would just dump French Dispatch out on streaming.
  11. You could have bought 10k shares of GME at $5 and sold today and that still won't cover your kids' tuition when they're old enough to go to college at the rate that shit is going up.
  12. We discussed this in the Grown Up Investors thread the other day. I couldn't have been more wrong about Netflix. As for me I used today's pullback to buy OOTM DIS calls at various levels today because when earnings drop in a few weeks everyone's dicks will get hard over the Disney+ subscriber numbers and then they'll just hear the Charlie Brown teacher voice when Chapek talks about pretty much everything else, which is all bad.
  13. Oh don't get me wrong. I am in no way disparaging speculation or fucking horses.
  14. Per my understanding, the #stonks thread is generally where speculative horsefuckery is discussed when it's not the main story in the market at large.
  15. The market is detached from any kind of underlying fundamentals and has been for quite some time and the MA Secretary of State is going to get bent about THIS? Fuckouttahere with that bruh.
  16. So the upshot of all of this is going to be the SEC doing something that fucks retail investing over the long haul to make life easier for hedge funds, right?
  17. Like others have said, LA Confidential and the other novels in the LA Quartet are all great. Helgeland/Hanson did a great job of distilling a very sprawling novel down while retaining the overall essence and getting rid of the stuff that would have planted it firmly in NC-17 territory. Underworld USA Trilogy was great as well. The two books in what Ellroy plans to be The Second LA Quartet have been a little bit uneven IMO. If you happen to read Black Dahlia, skip the De Palma movie from 10 or 15 years ago. Complete dogshit.
  18. I played a bunch of Mike Tyson's Punch Out when I was in elementary school and pretty much everybody Little Mac fought was like 3 times his size. If he can swing it why not King Kong?
