  1. Pac doesn't want to add more MWC schools right now because it would drop MWC below 8 schools and lead to legal issues. Otherwise, UNLV and Airforce would be added right now. Next for the Pac will probably be UTSA first and foremost. Memphis and Tulane are not keen on the idea of traveling west for all of their games. That leaves a basket of UNT, Rice, or Tulsa as a probable addition with UTSA.
  2. UConn just does not have an endless or robust NIL collective that will be necessary to keep it going. Then you have to consider the situation UConn faces once the House lawsuit gets negotiated. At that point revenue sharing will be even more important and UConn will be even less comeptitive with most Big 12, ACC, BigTen, or SEC schools for players and staff.
  3. The UConn athletic department had something like a 35 MM dollar deficit last year, and the university had to fulfill this shortfall. UConn basketball will be affected in time.
  4. UConn will not be a basketball power much longer if they cannot fund NIL.
  5. Also, it is speculated that Yormark himself is placing his political chips ino the center of the table for this move. It is suppossedly Yormark's people who leaked these talks to the press, in order to apply pressure to Big 12 presidents. Big 12 consultants also think the move is a good one. Ex-president of FOX sports weighing in: Remember, Yormark has talked about selling the basketball and football television rights separately for the next media agreement in 2031.
  6. Adding UConn and adding ACC schools are completely unrelated. The Big 12 will be able to add any ACC schools that are willing to move, and there is no set limit of additions that could be added from the ACC. Whether the result is a conference of 20, 24, 28, 32, it doesn't matter at all if media partners pay well for it. This 20 or 24 number is just imaginary. However, the withdrawal fee/GOR legal dispute is going to play out first. It may take a long time, so FSU will probably resort to writing a pretty big check before it's over. Then, any of the others are going to have to decide what they want to do. Stay until it is closer to the end of the media rights contract, or go. Adding UConn basketball with conditions for adding football in 2031 gets you a basketball blueblood in a market connected to approximately 11 MM television housholds, right now. All for no cost, as ESPN has said they would make it cost neutral for the conference. If UConn indeed invests in an on-campus stadium and commits resources to football, then that addition could pay off in 2031 as well. Think of this situation as UConn deciding whether they want to continue having a football program or not. Playing out in front of us all in real time.
  7. 1. There will be no super league until at least 2031, maybe even later than that if at all. I doubt very much that it will happen. 2. In the FSU and Clemson legal arguments, they state that if the GOR is determined to be invalid, would be invalidated upon their announcement of leaving the ACC, or only valid through 2027, then their official withdrawal from the ACC would be retroactively dated to have been given on August 15th of 2023. Anyone with any brains already knew this August 15th deadline was a nothingburger, and that FSU and Clemson were not going to give a notice of withdrawal until mediation and/or court battle was finished. (Even MHVer3 never said they were giving a notice of withdrawal by Aug 15th, and I do not know who it was that started this foolish line of speculation) 3. The general consensus among those who would know is that FSU and Clemson will not be invited to the B1G or SEC because there is no desire to add them since they would not significantly increase the value of their media contracts, as opposed to a Notre Dame. They also do not bring the potential out-of-state student demographics that a NC or VA would bring. FSU and Clemson would however increase the value of the Big 12 media contract significantly, along with increases in CFP payouts that would be gained through the 2027 look-in window that was insisted upon by Bret Yormark. There is also talk of an in-season conference semifinal that would be flex-scheduled for the 9th conference game with matchups being decided according to the standings, for which the media partners have stated they are interested in and would increase the value of the media contract. There is also speculation that Warner Brother Discovery might be interested in buying extra football/basketball content from the Big 12 if and when FSU, Clemson, and others TBD join the conference. These increases, together with some private equity and unequal distribution of the increased media and CFP revenue to FSU and Clemson, would probably make it worth it for them to leave the ACC for the Big 12.
  8. Cougar High v Dirt Burglar might be more important as well.
  9. West Virginia plays Penn State and UCF plays Florida. Those are games that come to my mind as more important than OSU v Pig.
  10. Weren't you just saying that there was not a healthy enough diversity of posters here to create entertaining banter? An hour or so later you are sharpening the pitchforks and soaking the torches.
  11. No, but this means pensions, unionized wage negotiations, medical coverage, and tax liability for the schools. This would open up a whole new can of costs. Who knows what other implications come from this?
