  1. This sounds like Stanford and Cal bullshit to me. Just look at them sending Condoleezza Rice and George W Bush to push the ACC to accept them today. It is just an unending stream of delusional nonsense coming from those campuses when it comcerns the business of sports. If they want to keep playing A4 football, wouldn't the Big 12 be a more viable path to persue? Instead, they want to politic for membership in a conference that exists on the opposite side of the continent.
  2. I do not think it will be entertaining. This is supposed to be college football. I do not care at all how much more money some old crusties in suits are able to gain and waste on this bullshit. I did not grow up watching SEC football, and I do not really care about it.
  3. The Chairman of the FSU BOR will be live on Warchant today at 6 pm. They seem to want to make a bunch of noise at this moment.
  4. I have no idea if this is true, but that is what they are saying. Apparently the admin and major donor(s) are ready to go through with all this. They feel like they were made certain promises when they signed the last GOR and started the ACC network, but those promises have not come close to being realized. They think they can use these promises in court somehow. FSU feels like they were swindled by ESPN, and are now being held captive in this bad deal. Remember, the ACC Network was not even carried by Comcast, the largest cable provider in the Southeast, for two or three years after its creation. We will see, as I have my doubts as well.
  5. Taking time to listen to the utterances of YouTubers associated with FSU, their strategy seems to include leveraging an ACC withdrawl to the B1G in 2024. They say that a negotiated 2 to 3 year transition to the SEC with a lowered buyout of about 300 MM or so with ESPN would be ideal. This transition would include a renegotiated media rights revenue distribution for FSU while they wait for their membership to the SEC. They say there have been conversations with ESPN this week, and conversations between ESPN and the ACC this week. However, I would assume a negotiated transition to the SEC with ESPN would lead to lawsuits between the ACC and ESPN. On the other hand, if ESPN does not offer terms that are acceptable to FSU, then they are prepared ro withdrawal from the ACC before August 15th. They would then face lawsuits with the ACC and ESPN. They say that the B1G is going to be aggressive enough to give them a full revenue distribution while these legal battles take place, as the B1G seems to really want a foothold in the Southeast.
  6. Arizona BOR has just now scheduled a special board meeting for 330 pm tomorrow. Assuming it is for discussion of the Pac-9 TV deal meeting earlier in the morning of the same day.
  7. The AQ for the 12 team playoff is indeed most likely going away in 2026. That is assumed to be the case by most. I do not understand why people in here think it won't. The B1G and SEC will pretty much be writing the new rules for it when the current agreement expires after 2025. That is a big reason why you see all this realignment happening, along with NIL.
  8. How many spots do you think the B1G and SEC each get, and how mu h more money do you think that brings each conference? Compared to just 1 spot that the ACC will get.
  9. More noise is starting concerning FSU. I am just using this tweet and the one earlier in the thread as examples, not as definitive proof. Their BOR meeting is this Wednesday, August 2nd. The rumor is that they may vote to withdrawl from the ACC before the August 15th deadline for playing somewhere else in 2024. The destination is speculated to be the B1G. FSU's logic is that there really is no risk when they are already behind 30 to 40 MM per year in media revenue. It is said that they would pay some sort of buyout, and they do not care how much. 300 MM, 500 MM, 600 MM... it doesn't matter to them what the buyout is when considering they are slated to be behind so much in media revenue until 2036. Plus, the B1G, SEC , and Big 12 will all get chances to renegotiate their contracts before 2036. Who knows if it shakes out like this, but we will find out these next couple of weeks.
