  8. So, I just answered medical questions for disability insurance. I told the phone examiner that I had exercise induced asthma on occasion. She then asked follow up questions. Her: Have you ever coughed up blood or sputum? Me: You are asking if I’ve ever spit? Her: Have you ever coughed up blood or sputum? Me: No, I have never coughed up blood, but I have loogied. Her: So, is that a yes or a no? Me: No Psychiatrist: So how does that make you feel?

  10. Japan Airlines Plane Collides with Delta Aircraft at Seattle-Tacoma Airport February 6, 2025 by David Jones A Japan Airlines aircraft collided with a stationary Delta Airlines plane on the runway of Seattle-Tacoma Airport on Wednesday morning. The incident, which occurred at 10:17 a.m., resulted in damage to both planes but no injuries were reported. The Japan Airlines plane was taxiing across the tarmac when its wing struck the tail of the parked Delta plane. Images shared by passengers on social media depicted the wing of the Japan Airlines plane slicing halfway through the tail of the Delta aircraft. One passenger described the incident as “very scary,” adding that the impact was loud and startling. The plane was subsequently inspected for further damage. Despite the collision, the airport reported that the incident had a “minimal impact” on its operations. The airport is currently working with both airlines to ensure the safe disembarkation of passengers and their transportation to the terminal. This incident comes amidst a tense period for airports nationwide, following two recent fatal accidents. Just a week prior, a collision between a US Army helicopter and an American Airlines jet at Reagan National Airport resulted in the deaths of 67 people. Two days later, a medical evacuation jet in Philadelphia crashed onto a busy street and exploded, killing all six people on board and one person on the ground. Adding to the unease, the Federal Aviation Administration’s Notice to Air Missions system (NOTAM), which provides crucial information about potential hazards to aircraft and airports, experienced an outage over the weekend. Although the system was restored on Sunday, the outage caused delays for hundreds of flights.

  17. Not the right thread but: United Airlines Flight Catches Fire During Takeoff February 4, 2025 by David Jones A United Airlines flight destined for New York City was abruptly halted just before takeoff from George Bush Intercontinental Airport when flames were seen erupting from one of its wings. The sudden stop jolted the passengers on board Flight 773, leading to a swift and chaotic evacuation. Eyewitnesses painted a vivid picture of the terrifying scene. The aircraft, which had been accelerating for takeoff, suddenly came to a grinding halt, jolting back onto the runway. One passenger likened the plane’s erratic movements to fishtailing. As smoke began to fill the cabin, panic ensued, with passengers scrambling for the exits. In the midst of the chaos, all 104 passengers and crew members were able to evacuate safely. Some used the emergency slides to reach the runway. One passenger expressed relief at being back on solid ground, admitting, “I thought I was going to die.” The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the takeoff was aborted due to a reported engine issue. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the malfunction. For some passengers, the incident served as a chilling reminder of recent aviation disasters, making the prospect of boarding another flight daunting. One traveler confessed to hesitating before finally reboarding a different aircraft, stating, “I was the last person. I was scared.” United Airlines has reiterated that passenger safety is its top priority and is fully cooperating with the FAA’s investigation. The airline is also offering support to those affected by the incident, including rebooking options and counseling services for those traumatized by the experience. This incident comes at a time when aviation safety is under the microscope, with airlines emphasizing rigorous maintenance and safety checks. The aviation industry is under constant scrutiny to prevent such incidents and ensure passenger safety. As authorities continue to investigate the cause of the engine malfunction, it serves as a reminder of the complex systems and expert coordination required to maintain air travel as one of the safest modes of transportation.
