I didn't know it was a chain. I knew one of the kids of the owner.

It's good to see a few people on here type this. I know we are generally better educated than the average person, but I bet very few realize the truth behind Switzerland's neutrality.

This is a huge issue if true. If LSU is as poor as people on here are saying, they should not be competing with us. We need to do what it takes instead of waiting for Oregon or tOSU or the like to jump into the mix. I know the experts on here disagree, but we need to stop pussyfooting around. It seems like Alabama use to get a silent and then let the 5 star recruits take their time before signing them in the fall. Times have changed. It isn't a sound policy for us.

School Principal Has Pregnant Teacher Executed Cornelius M. Green, 42, a former middle school principal, was handed two life sentences in federal prison for a murder-for-hire scheme that resulted in the death of 30-year-old teacher Jocelyn Peters and her unborn child, Micah Leigh. The sentencing occurred on June 25, 2024 in the Federal District Court of St. Louis, Missouri. Despite being married, Green was entangled romantically with Peters, who was seven months into her pregnancy carrying his child. Green enlisted his old friend, Phillip J. Cutler, for the murder and used $2,500, embezzled from a fundraiser at Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School where he worked, to pay Cutler. This money was transferred to Cutler via UPS, using the school as the return address. Cutler, on March 24, 2016, drove Green’s car to Peters’ residence on West Pine Boulevard, St. Louis. With keys given by Green, he entered the apartment and shot Peters in the head while she was sleeping. He used a potato as a makeshift silencer for the gunshot. It was disclosed by prosecutors that Green had made sure there were potatoes in the apartment by shopping with Peters just days before the killing. Green had taken an Amtrak train to Chicago on the day of the murder to create an alibi, leaving his car and Peters’ apartment keys with Cutler. After the murder, Green called Peters’ mother and asked her to check on Peters, fully aware of what she would discover. “The depravity of asking a mother to go find Jocelyn’s body, knowing she was dead, can’t be matched,” noted Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany Becker during the sentencing hearing. An investigation into the case revealed that Green had initially tried to end Peters’ pregnancy by secretly poisoning her. After this attempt failed, he resorted to murder. Peters was unaware that Green was still married and was involved with several other women. Federal prosecutors also stated that Peters was oblivious to Green’s attempts to poison her. At the sentencing, several individuals addressed the court, expressing their grief and shock. Peters’ mother spoke of Green, who should have been a protector, becoming her daughter’s killer. She stated that Peters had deeply loved him, adding that Peters “loved that baby so much.” Dr. Nicole Conaway, the principal of Mann Elementary School where Peters taught there, highlighted the impact of Peters’ death on her students and coworkers at the hearing. “He literally stole from children to pay for killing his own child,” Conaway said. “I will never forget the pain in their eyes. This trauma will follow them for the rest of their lives.” Green pled guilty in February to one count each of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and murder-for-hire. Cutler, found guilty of the same charges, also received two consecutive life sentences. Both men will spend the rest of their lives in federal prison. The crime’s aftermath has had a profound effect on Peters’ family and the school community. “Jocelyn had a light around her at all times,” Dedra Peters, Jocelyn’s cousin, said. “She made a lasting impression on everyone she met.” The death of Peters has left her family in a state of “emptiness and heartbreak.”

Cornell student Patrick Dai pleads guilty to online threats toward Jewish students Jacob Mack Ithaca Journal Patrick Dai, the 21-year-old former junior at Cornell University, originally from Pittsford, New York, pleaded guilty Wednesday to posting threats to kill or injure another using interstate communications. Dai’s threats, which targeted Jewish students, were posted on an online discussion site affiliated with Cornell. The threats included plans to attack a kosher dining hall at Cornell and to murder and behead Jewish people and students. He made the threats under online monikers that included "hamas soldier" and “jewevil.” Dai admitted to the threats in a seven-hour interview with the FBI earlier this year and in a court hearing Wednesday. As part of his guilty plea, Dai admitted that, on Oct. 28 and 29, 2023, he posted threatening messages to the Cornell section of an online discussion forum, including posts that said “gonna shoot up 104 west” (a dining hall at Cornell University that caters predominantly to Kosher diets and is next to the Cornell Jewish Center, which houses many of the university’s Jewish students) and “gonna bomb jewish house.” In another post, Dai threatened to “stab” and “slit the throat” of any Jewish man he saw on campus, to rape and throw off a cliff any Jewish women he saw, and to behead any Jewish babies. In that same post, Dai threatened to “bring an assault rifle to campus and shoot all you pig Jews.” “Patrick Dai used the internet to make horrific threats to kill and injure Jewish students attending Cornell University," said U.S. Attorney Carla Freedman for the Northern District of New York. "The federal felony conviction he sustains today underscores that those who break the law by making violent threats will be found and prosecuted, even if they attempt to hide by posting anonymously. His guilty plea today means he will be held accountable for his threats against members of his own Cornell University community.” Dai was denied bail in 2023 by U.S. Magistrate Judge Thérèse Wiley Dancks, who cited the violent anti-Semitic threats he allegedly made and his apparent struggles with mental health issues. The judge noted that some past mass shooters have utilized online threats and communications before their crimes. Dai has been using prescribed medication for severe depression and anxiety, though it had not helped him, according to his lawyers and his mother. Judge Dancks referenced Dai’s instability even with medication when deciding whether to release him before trial. Sentencing A sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 12 in Syracuse. Dai faces a maximum term of 5 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of supervised release of up to 3 years. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

My tree trimmer is a Cherokee. I dare you to say that to him.

Coaches seem to think Faraimo, Cunningham, Barnes.

Sark would sell his soul for Moore, but if our class falls into place with the two five stars and the San Antonio athlete, I think at this point that I'd rather keep that in place than get Moore and deal with the resultant turmoil.

Called my SIL - she is out of state with their daughter at some soccer thing. She said their power has been off since this morning and she hasn’t been able to get in touch with my brother 77024. I guess I’ll try calling him this evening.

We were fishing off some rigs about 7mi offshore and my brother and I were talking about jumping in the water because of the heat. Then we pulled up a few half fish, had something run with 20lb test that broke the line, and saw a large fish jump almost to the height of the rig. We decided to just deal with the Texas heat. One thing I will say is that I feel a whole lot safer in scuba gear where I can see a little of my surroundings vs. just swimming or treading water with my head above water.

Still no rain here in Austin. It is a little overcast with a mild breeze. No power outages have been reported.

He was talking to me. I don't need a strategy. I'm not involved in recruiting.

And if we get Brooks, losing Rogers is inconsequential. By all accounts, we should get Fasusi. But no one should be overconfident with the way things have been going. And if we get Faraimo and the staff likes him better than Pettijohn, then we are fine there. We are absolutely getting fucked at DB and DT. WR probably bothers Sark more than it bothers me. So overall, the sky isn't falling.

That's my question as well. I assumed that in the last few days that there has been back and fourth with money and then we pull out when the number gets absurd. If that is not the case, then I don't get it.
-
You had previously said that we preferred Faraimo over Pettijohn and we didn't have room for Rogers if we took Brooks and Fasusi. And it seems Pettijohn and Rogers were aware and chose accordingly. Same with Johnson for that matter. If you play that game, you absolutely have to close on your targets, otherwise you end up with jack shit. I am more concerned about our targets of Brooks and Fasusi. I predict we end up with Fasusi. If we wanted Brooks, we needed to offer more in the beginning. It will absolutely have to do with money when we lose him to Georgia. You say this is what happens when we go after high risk targets. And maybe you are right but I say that if you go big game hunting that you need to be armed for big game. You can't half ass high risk targets, because that is a waste of time and then you are right that we should have been satisfied with Rogers and targeted him earlier. ++Sorry, this was typed before I saw your post above** Morons, please realize that this is pure speculation**

I assume Ffrench to tOSU and Brooks to Georgia.

My take from the last month is that we miss Glasscock's management of NIL. I'm not sure that it would have made a huge difference in the initial recruiting losses but I think he would have helped the coaches adapt. From what I can gather, we went in with what we thought were appropriate NIL offers. Most teams matched and raised and then we got into bidding wars with most of our targets which were basically the cream of the crop. When the numbers got too large, we backed out. All this seems reasonable, but based on a miscalculation of where the market was. In retrospect, we needed to offer more in the beginning and get kids locked in before there were bidding wars. Now, I think we need to see where things land and play the long game. Continue trying to get our targets and lock in 75% of our class. And if we want Anding, offer him a number that we know LSU won't match instead of reacting to what LSU does. Then, as the season progresses as we suspect, revisit guys and even look at new ones from teams that are reeling and finish out the class. Bottom line is that we took a smart conservative approach that backfired as more money was out there than we thought (at least for 2025). Now we need a manager of NIL to better control the offer process.

We have tons of Nepalese in our military, not to mention our 7-Elevens. I see probably 5 from Nepal in our military to every 1 from India.
