  1. I use to have a place in Capitola so this hits close to home.
  2. When is it suppose to make landfall, the 5th?
  3. Defensive recruiting is not in the same level as offensive recruiting this year. We need to bring in Faraimo or Pettijohn. They would bring the linebacker class from good to great. Without Anding our db class will be below average. And Anding is far from a shoe-in. Our DT class is bare. Our Edge class will be great.
  4. That sounds pretty lame. There are dental records and DNA and bones alone can pretty much determine age and sex. And it sounds like toxicology was lacking so no obvious signs of foul play was based on mainly no broken bones.
  5. The difference is in the definition of money whipping. Offering more money than anyone else is money whipping whether it is Texas or Oregon or A&M or Auburn or Oklahoma. And by this definition, I don’t see why money whipping will disappear. All most schools need is someone to organize a system that works for individual and corporate donors. We’ve created a system that is sustainable and it was hard to be a pioneer. It will be less difficult to follow working blueprints. We may be a winner in the system but I don’t see the poors such as Alabama and LSU giving up on fund raising for football. They want to remain relevant just like everyone else. You may not see it, but the money going to football recruits isn’t going to dry up. It is going to continue to grow.
  6. What I was saying is that I understand that we are looking for guys who aren’t in it just for the money. However, the system actually makes recruits become - just in it for the money. If Oregon wants to offer a prospect $1M, he is going to go to Oregon. So say you have a guy who wants to be developed the best and Oregon offers $1M but does a shitty job developing. Guess what - the guy got money whipped. The lack of a system is set up for this. So if Auburn or Oregon or A&M or OU wants to overpay the most scrupulous guy in the world, they are going to get him. This may not be true for everyone right now - take Manning for example - however, as time goes on it will become more of a job and less of a career path.
  7. If we have to rely on the portal to fill key needs, we will have to rely on NIL. There will always be a few in the portal who don’t want to wait on a spot opening up or want to improve their draft prospects, but even those guys will be money whipped by one of the typical suspects. So it may not be what we want to do, but in the current environment, we will be forced to NIL guys. So, I get what you are saying. And I agree we would prefer to avoid pure NIL guys. But, the future is going to drive every player to become a pure NIL guy. To put it in perspective, while I didn’t come to Surly because of the money I was offered, if someone offered me 6 figures to post on their site, I would be very tempted to take them up on the offer. While, I am joking, that is what is pretty much happening in college sports.
  8. Doesn’t peacock cost money? What are the free options to watch on my phone?
  9. How are y’all watching it? I’m in Montana this week and saw that NBC is only showing pieces.
  10. Screen Actor Killed in Shark Attack at Age 49 Surfer and actor Tamayo Perry, known for his roles in popular films such as “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and “Blue Crush,” passed away after a shark attack off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii on June 23, 2024. Perry was 49 years old. The shark attack occurred near Goat Island, where Perry was on a break from his lifeguard duties. Emergency services found him off Mālaekahana Beach, located on Oahu’s North Shore, missing an arm and a leg. Despite being rushed to shore via jet ski by paramedics, Perry was declared dead shortly after. “Tamayo was a lifeguard loved by all. He’s well-known on the North Shore as a professional surfer known worldwide. His charisma was contagious, and while many adored him, his affection for others was even greater,” said Kurt Lager, acting chief of Honolulu Ocean Safety, expressing his condolences and acknowledging Perry’s influence on the community. Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi also expressed his sorrow over Perry’s death, referring to it as a “tragic loss” and praising Perry as “a legendary waterman and highly respected.” Perry, born in 1975, initiated his surfing career at the age of 12, quickly establishing himself in the local surfing community. By 1997, his unique tube riding style had earned him recognition at the North Shore pipeline. His win at the esteemed Pipeline Masters competition in 1999 further cemented his reputation as a top surfer. Besides his accomplishments in surfing, Perry also had a brief but significant acting career. His acting credits include appearances in several films and television shows, such as “Lost,” “Hawaii Five-0,” and “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.” Perry’s fatal encounter with a shark is the second such incident in Oahu this month, leading to increased concerns about water safety in the region. Following the attack, shark warnings were posted by ocean safety officials in the area to inform beachgoers of the potential danger. The loss of Perry, a dedicated lifeguard, professional surfer, and cherished community member, will be felt by many. His contributions to ocean safety and the world of surfing have made a lasting impact on those who knew him and the wider surfing community.
  11. Man, y’all are freaking the fuck out. I suggest we get a DT who is a Xanax dealer, and we’ll be fine.
  12. This is why we should get drunk and make offers at 2:00am - everyone looks good.
  13. So you did care for the message at the rally.
  14. How many hostages are still alive? How many Hamas members are still active? Can Gaza have a future with a thriving terrorist organization being part of its fabric.
  15. You can support your daughter without supporting her causes. You can even hate her causes.
  16. Probably involves some upgraded air defense to Israel.
  17. It appears that the writing was on the wall for the defensive line class and something had to change, and fast.
