  1. Shiny stuff just came.
  2. i couldn't visit my friends who lived at the castilian dorm from 1998-2001 without hearing that at least 18 times on every hallway i walked down.
  3. i love my r-121. i'm basically dual tracking every single thing i do with it now except vox. i find that whatever i feel is missing from anything i mic whether it's an sm57 to a u87, the 121 brings a certain breathy colorfulness to it that blends nicely with everything else and provides organic thickness. sometimes, it may only contribute 10% of the final sound and sometimes, all of it...but it is basically ever present on everything i do now. paul and i did a shootout with a bunch of mics at the studio a few months back and we agreed that it won virtually every sound we put in front of it.
  4. Welp, tried my best to make @rungeflash, @ohchaucer, and @Handcruser proud. Full set of K Dark Customs coming tomorrow.
  5. thanks dude. obviously it isn't a difficult line but i can't play much beyond that in terms of current ability. double tracked it with a royer ribbon and a u87 through my neve pre and a touch of color added with an 1176 prior to mt48 interface. used valhalla room for some reverb and a modeled ssl channel strip for some eq on it. even took a pic:
  6. been a busy few months and haven't had a lot of time for music unfortunately. however, a few things i have done. first, i did a cover of isbell's "if we were vampires." i wanted to lay down a cello line to test how some new recording gear (neumann mt48 audio interface) and a new mic would sound in my office. vampires is my wife's favorite tune by JI so decided to play in some piano and cello. violin was added afterwards with midi. second is a new guitar/drum based track i'm working on. trying to do something a bit more traditional. started with a sketch on the chorus that sounded a bit alice in chains-y to me so i built off that. i'm actually intending to write some verse, bridge, and chorus lyrics for it...then maybe i can pay the girls in jimmy's daughter's band to come and scream them in and make it work. haven't started conceiving of them yet but have placeholders for lyrics in the song throughout. finally is a string quartet track i have been working on for a long time. i think it is finished but still don't know if i like the jarring ending or not.
  7. i am missing an awful lot apparently. a thread about how two billionaire nutjobs just transparently purchased the legislative trial proceedings in the texas senate of the recently impeached attorney general so that he can continue to embarrass the state and file nuisance lawsuits to attempting to overturn the 2020 election has somehow been hijacked by a world class douchebag playing inconsequential and pathetic thread police nonsense because they object to my use of an ellipses in the thread title. jesus fucking christ, no wonder we have lieutenant governors openly accepting bribes to tilt the scale of a senate trial in open air...why the fuck would he think anyone would care when the primary topic being discussed is whether this should be posted on the daily texan board or whether it's okay to use an ellipses in a thread title meant to bring attention to said corruption.
  8. i know this is in the paxton thread but this deserves its own thread. https://www.texastribune.org/2023/07/18/ken-paxton-impeachment-dan-patrick/ the two dipshits (dunn and wilks) literally put in $1.5 million each on june 23rd (see https://www.transparencyusa.org/tx/committee/defend-texas-liberty-pac-00084766-gpac/contributions) and a couple of days later, patrick has $3 million more dollars for putting a gag order on the senate trial rules. i am trying to imagine going to trial where i just paid the judge $3 million. seems totally reasonable. i'm also trying to imagine spending a million and half dollars to white knight for a piece of shit like ken paxton so he can continue to frontline crusade for your efforts to destroy education and make everyone be indoctrinated into jesus world. and room temp iq texans that comprise this fucking dumbfuck state all respond with "cool, sounds good."
  9. i just got back from a week in glacier national park and i would recommend spending as much time in northwestern montana as possible between april and october.
  10. will have quite a bit to share on this thread tomorrow evening and friday...

why does it feel like we are in the midst of the montage in the middle of the movie major league right now with this team?
  12. Team completely rebuild your office to hang them.
  13. i think all these stepsons, stepmoms, stepsisters, stepdaughters, stepdaughter's friends shoudl all have to show id to prove they are step-related. that has been the most fucking bizarre development in the world of porn over the last ten years that i will never understand.
  14. My amazing wife and kids got me a very fun birthday present. My first real moog analog. Fucking pumped.
  15. Patrick Bateman the satirical psychopath, Thomas Shelby - mass murderer and leader of a criminal syndicate, and Jordan Belfort, conman federally convicted fraudster are his idiot campaign interns’ idea of “manly?” okay. i guess the dipshit brigade couldn’t round up Andrew Tate and Dan bilzerian for him?
  16. well neither does your hypothetical that you attempted to analogize. that's why i don't understand your efforts here. frankly, nothing applies to the case at hand because we now know it was all fictitiously conjured for purposes of getting a case in front of a court with alito, thomas, gorsuch, barrett, and kavanaugh on it. but nothing in the case is remotely comparable to your imposition of asking someone to construct a white power/black power website advocating as you have tried to analogize. the case is based on a pretend website developer refusing to create a down-the-middle, uncontroversial wedding information website for a pretend gay couple that did not exist despite "wanting" to be in the business of making wedding information websites because she did not think gay people should be able to marry despite their legal right to do so.
  17. still does not work, jbj. the analogy can be demonstrated as a false equivalence through one detail being added to the hypothetical. the person seeking to engage the developer to create the white pride website is black. that demonstrates the difference between discriminating service based on viewpoint versus discriminating service based categorical attributes of the person.
  18. i gave you way too much credit earlier. this is incredibly fucking stupid, dude. white pride is an expressed viewpoint. refusing it isn't a refusal based on race. being homosexual is categorical...like being white. refusing it is based on sexuality. you seem to be struggling with this analogy so i'll present it another way. a comparable analogy to your white supremacy exemplar would be if the (fictional we now know) couple asked the (fictional) website creator to make a website that says "homosexuals are the supreme beings and will go to heaven while piece of shit straight people are all pedophiles that will all go to hell." like the refusal of a white supremacy messaging, the (pretend aspirational) website creator that would like to be a website creator could reject such a request. those are comparable scenarios. the comparable scenario in the other direction would be the (pretend aspirational) website creator saying that she would not create a wedding site for them because they are white/black/christian/hindu/homosexual/heterosexual. hopefully this clears up the confusion and you can abandon this very, very silly argument.
  19. this absolute fucking dipshit... https://gov.texas.gov/news/post/governor-abbott-requests-sba-disaster-declaration-after-fema-denies-disaster-aid-for-southeast-texas-tornadoes https://gov.texas.gov/news/post/president-biden-partially-approves-governor-abbotts-request-for-major-disaster-declaration#:~:text=Governor Abbott directed TDEM to,with local and state officials. https://www.cornyn.senate.gov/news/cornyn-cruz-support-abbott-request-for-federal-emergency-disaster-declaration-after-winter-storm-mara/ https://gov.texas.gov/news/post/governor-abbott-announces-approval-of-additional-31-counties-for-major-disaster-declaration https://www.texastribune.org/2022/05/09/texas-federal-coronavirus-border-greg-abbott/ i can keep doing this for a long, long time. there are over 370 pages of female disaster relief exemplars no this page: https://www.fema.gov/locations/texas
